Chapter 30 - The truth behind Vampville

   Thwack!

Lee'on could barely react, as the punch slammed into his chest with immense force, hurtling his body backwards.

"Argh!" He grunted, blood spraying out of his mouth as his back crashed into the ground, bouncing uncontrollably.

'Damn it.' He thought, gritting his teeth in frustration.

He swiftly twisted his body, making a sharp backflip in the air, before landing back on his feet.

He could feel a sharp burning sensation in his chest, causing his brows to furrow into a slight frown.

However, his regeneration kicked in almost instantly, taking away all the pain and injuries from the attack.

'How embarrassing…' He thought, wiping away the traces of blood on his lips.

Thinking about how much he had ranted after his transformation, he felt like digging himself into a hole.

Though he stopped Alex from destroying the lab, it wasn't even due to any of those reasons he mentioned.

However, after he transformed, all the rage he had hidden within him over the years suddenly started pouring out.

He barely even knew when he started talking, pouring out all his anger unto Alex.

Alex didn't help either, especially with how he kept retaliating at him, until he fully lost control, attacking him head-on.

Apart from all that, fighting was someone as strong as Alex was the last thing on his mind right now.

With their strength, they would probably bring down the whole lab if they unleashed attacks on each other, something he was trying to prevent.

Nonetheless, he was inwardly shocked by the power displayed within that single punch.

From the start, he never thought himself stronger than Alex.

Ever since he saw those pair of glowing red eyes, he just knew somewhere deep within that Alex was the more powerful one.

It was why he instinctively transformed before facing him, however, what he didn't was for the difference between them to be this much!

'What a monster…' He thought, lightly rubbing his chest.

"You…" Alex suddenly said, glaring at him from the distance. "You're from Vampville, isn't that right?"

"Huh…?" Lee'on blinked, a little taken aback by the question.

Almost everyone in the kingdom was familiar with the tragic tale behind the city called 'Vampville'.

The city, once known as Canville had been the capital of Norath, a place of beauty and wealth.

However, when the vampires descended upon the kingdom, they claimed the city as their stronghold, turning it into a fortress of terror.

It was then that the city became known as Vampville… meaning the home of vampires.

The name stuck, and until now, barely any one even remembered it by its actual name.

After Dracula's defeat, the remnant vampires attempted one last act of desperation, drawing a massive spell around the city to resurrect their fallen king.

Due to this, the royal army was forced to make a terrible choice: annihilate the city along with the hostages within, or risk the return of the terrifying vampire king.

They eventually chose the former, obliterating Vampville, erasing all traces of its existence.

That decision was hailed as a necessary sacrifice, and the hundreds of lost, innocent lives were hailed as heroes.

'Why did he have to bring that up again?' Lee'on thought, grounding his teeth together in anger.

However, he didn't lose control of his emotions this time, only staring at Alex with a slight frown.

"What does it matter?" He muttered, letting out a low sigh.

Whoosh!

"True… I guess it doesn't after all!" Alex shouted, suddenly dashing towards Lee'on at terrifying speed.

Harnessing his strength through his arms, he swiftly sent a punch towards Lee'on's head.

However, the latter simply moved his head to the side, causing the punch to hit empty air instead.

Boom!!

While he managed to dodge the attack, a powerful shockwave suddenly blasted from Alex's fist, travelling through the air at rapid speed.

Bamm!!

The shockwave slammed into the wall behind them, instantly exploding it into rubble.

'Just as I thought, the aftermath will still damage the lab!' Lee'on thought, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

"Don't get distracted." A familiar voice abruptly echoed in his ear, and his eyes widened in shock.

Thwack!!!

Before he knew it, a powerful punch slammed into his abdomen, sending him flying once again.

"Agh…" Lee'on grunted in pain, thick red blood spraying out of his mouth.

Nonetheless, he quickly balanced himself back on the ground, his feet sliding to a halt a few feet away.

Swoosh!!

'Wh—?!' His eyes widened in shock, as his senses suddenly warned him of another attack, this time from his side.

He immediately turned his head to the side, however, all that filled his vision was a pair of bright red eyes, and a giant fist heading straight for his face.

Just before the punch connected with his face, he swiftly bent his body backward, barely evading the attack.

Boom!!

'That was close…' He thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration as he watched the fist pass over his body, unleashing another powerful wave into air.

Thwamm!!

Splooosh!!

The shockwave smashed into one of the giant tubes, instantly blasting it into pieces, with a strange brown liquid bursting out of it.

Szzzz!

The liquid splashed loudly on the ground, sizzling softly as smoke slowly rose up in the air.

However, Lee'on didn't have any time to worry about the spilled liquid.

Alex didn't even give him a chance to recuperate, before swiping his claws down towards his abdomen.

Whoosh!

Seeing the attack descending down on him, Lee'on swiftly moved away, using his hands to propel himself backwards, while twisting his torso out of reach.

Bam!!

Alex's claws struck the floor instead, carving five deep grooves onto the steel-reinforced surface.

'He's like a cockroach… an annoying one.' Alex thought, growling in annoyance.

Meanwhile, Lee'on's eyes shone even brighter as he slightly twisted his body in the air, zeroing in on Alex.

Each of his movements were extremely swift, unnaturally so, beyond anything a human could ever achieve. However, he was anything but normal.

Fwoosh!

'I have to attack!' He thought, descending on Alex's head with another powerful kick.

Bam!!!

Crack!!

Within a split second, his feet connected with Alex, the sheer force completely shattering the floor beneath them.

The floor of the laboratory was fully made of steel, which had been further reinforced with mythril.

Yet in the face of their power, it easily crumbled like paper.

Kroom!!!

The two of them fell to the lower floor of the laboratory, with the rubbles raining down alongside them.

'Did I get him?' Lee'on thought, his brows knitting into a frown.

His question soon got its answer, as Alex suddenly grabbed unto his leg, flinging him to the side with immense force.
