Anna's POV
One of the things that excites me when I'm home is the beach close to my parent's house. When I was a kid , living so close to the beach was like a dream come through and I still feel that way even as an adult . I always looked forward to summer with my bikinis ready.
I thought about taking a vacation to some place that has the most beautiful beach because I have not had any vacations in years .
The smell of fresh water filled my nostrils as I strolled bare footed on the cool beach sand. The beach held a lot of memories from my childhood and a lot of memories from my love affair with Theo. I shoved those thoughts far away and decided to live in the moment .
I made my step sister promise not to inform my parents that I would be visiting, I wanted to surprise them . But getting home , I discovered they were on a trip shopping for the wedding. My mom could be extra like that.
My dad on the other hand sounded so pleased over the phone when I told them I was home and he promised that they were going to return just in time before I went back to my "condo" just like he would say.
I invited Solange for a sleep over but she was yet to arrive . I was able to convince Leylah to add both Solange and her fiancé to the wedding guest list because I really wanted them to be there.
The feeling of the sun against my bare skin was amazing and I liked the way my feet dug into the sand as I walked.
A tanned figured caught my attention as I walked further and I decided to move closer to see who had the glowing skin. The beautiful stranger smiled at me and I just waved not knowing what to do.
"Your skin is glowing" I said before I could stop the words from getting out . And she smiled even more.
"Thank you " she answered shyly.
"Anna!!" Leylah called and I looked back in time to see her racing back to the house giggling like an high school girl.
I smiled and waved goodbye at the beautiful girl with tanned skin and followed my step sister.
I did not realize that we had been at the beach for a long time until I got into my room to freshen up for dinner . My step sister made my favorite meal, rice and vegetables with shrimps and while we ate in silence it felt like old times again.
"You like the food?" She asked with a mouthful of vegetable.
"I love it so much" I did not bother to hide my excitement and how grateful I felt.
Solange arrived in time before dinner ended, I almost thought she wouldn't make it to dinner. My eyes lit up when I saw her walk down the porch.
I was surprised that she was able to find her way to the house after complaining that the description confused her. Well that's why google map existed.
But I was really happy that she could make it.
"Hi baby" she wrapped me up in a warm embrace "oh my i have missed you so much Anna"
I faked a frown "I almost cannot breathe without you girlfriend"
She nudged me playfully "stop please you're teasing me already"
We both laughed. I squeezed her hands gently , a gesture that showed that I missed her as much.
"Meet my sister, Leylah" I quickly said "Leylah meet my one and only friend, Solange".
They hugged each other and exchanged pleasantries.
We all ate in silence and moved to the porch for some wine and to watch the stars.
"Congratulations on the wedding Leylah" Solange broke the silence
"Thank you" Leylah blushed.
"It feels so good that I would be attending at least a wedding before mine" she grinned and Leylah opened her mouth in surprise.
"Oh wow congratulations in advance"
"Yeah congratulations you two" I said dramatically rolling my eyes. "And I can't believe I would be bridesmaid at two different weddings, maybe it's a sign that I would find my soul mate soon"
They both looked at me and burst out laughing.
I pouted trying so hard not to laugh too.
"maybe the best man" I shrugged jokingly "who is the best man anyways?"
"Joe's cousin" Leylah winked. Joe is Leylah's fiancé.
"Ohhh judging from the way Joe looks, his cousin might not be a bad idea though" I nodded.
Leylah gave me a look that said "are you kidding?"
She knew me too well . She knew how bad I did not want to have anything to do with men.
"I might be serious you know" I laughed . I enjoyed teasing her a lot. The look on her face was priceless.
Solange was too engrossed with texting her man that she did not seem to notice the little back and forth.
She looked up from her phone and shrugged "people get to meet their partners at weddings though, you never can tell what would happen"
"True but I'm not searching, I'm okay with being single" I said but not with the same certainty as I would have said it before.
Leylah noticed and gave me a questioning look but I ignored her and watched the starts instead.
I knew what was coming later. Series of questions from her about who the lucky man was or who he might be.
I did not miss the way her mouth turned in a small smile. She was probably thinking that I found Mr right or I might be getting a boyfriend soon.
Well maybe I did find Mr right , but I let him go. For the first time since I met the handsome stranger at the pool, I thought about him. The way his swim suit hugged his thighs when he got out of the pool , his gorgeous eyes when he looked at me and the way he smiled.
I thought about going back to the place we met, I thought about going back to see if he would be there again .
"That would be desperate" I thought . What if I actually saw him there again? What if he figured that I came back because I wanted to see him again ? What if he actually wanted to see me again too?
