In the Woods
Ning Yechen hugged Luo Hongye as they slowly descended to the ground. A fierce fight was taking place near the wooden house, with sword lights and black mist rising into the sky.
This little girl... always thinking about sacrificing herself to protect her children, Ning Yechen thought as he stood up, holding Luo Hongye. He contemplated how to deal with these intruders without revealing his true identity. As the former Demon Lord of the Demon Realm, he was the mortal enemy of the Immortal Realm. If Luo Ruying knew his true identity, she might take the child and leave him.
"Daddy, let's not leave mother behind, okay?" Luo Hongye sobbed, her big eyes red from crying. "Don't leave mother every night!"
"Be good, Yeye, and don't cry. Daddy promises you that your mother will be fine. Daddy will never abandon your mother," Ning Yechen said softly, wiping her tears.
But a cold, murderous intent flashed in his eyes. These intruders made his daughter cry. None of them would leave alive.
"Is what dad said true?" Luo Hongye asked seriously.
Ning Yechen smiled and nodded. "How could dad lie to Yeye?"
"Then daddy, let's go find mom quickly," Luo Hongye said impatiently.
Just then, a deep voice sounded from the woods ahead. "Where are you going?"
Wu Kuang emerged from the dim woods, looking at Ning Yechen and Luo Hongye with a playful expression. His eyes were mainly focused on Luo Hongye, and he grinned, revealing a row of silver teeth.
"I knew Old Ghost wanted to steal the credit! Luckily, I followed him here," Wu Kuang laughed excitedly. He stretched out his palm and looked at Ning Yechen coldly. "Boy, hand over the child, and I will let you die peacefully."
Luo Hongye shrank into Ning Yechen's arms, looking up at him fearfully.
Ning Yechen smiled softly, stroked the back of her head, and whispered in her ear, "Yeye, can you close your eyes and cover your ears for a while? Daddy is going to do some magic."
Luo Hongye, full of doubts, closed her eyes and covered her ears with her small hands. "So good," Ning Yechen said, smiling. Then, his expression turned cold as he looked at Wu Kuang.
For some reason, Wu Kuang felt a chill and a sense of fear. He couldn't believe he was frightened by a mortal. Impossible!
"A mere ant dares to look at me like that? You court death!" Wu Kuang roared. He lunged at Ning Yechen, his fist aiming for Ning Yechen's face. But his powerful punch was easily caught by a slender palm.
Wu Kuang's expression was full of disbelief. His punch, strong enough to crack mountains, was blocked by this 'mortal'? This guy was definitely not a mortal.
"You, who are you?" Wu Kuang tried to pull his hand back, but it wouldn't budge from Ning Yechen's grip.
Ning Yechen's eyes were filled with disdain and murderous intent. "I don't want my daughter to see something bloody and cruel. So it's your advantage. You can disappear from this world."
Ning Yechen's palm suddenly erupted with pitch-black flames that spread to Wu Kuang's body, engulfing him entirely.
"Ahhh!" Wu Kuang's scream was muffled by the soundproof barrier Ning Yechen had cast. In seconds, Wu Kuang was gone, leaving no trace behind.
When Ning Yechen let go of Luo Hongye's ears, she opened her eyes and looked around curiously. "Daddy, where is the big bad guy?" she asked.
"Daddy used magic to make the bad guy disappear," Ning Yechen smiled.
Luo Hongye's eyes lit up with admiration. "Daddy is amazing!"
"But Yeye, you can't tell anyone about daddy's magic, okay?" Ning Yechen said, kneeling down and pulling her close.
"Not even mommy?" Luo Hongye asked.
"Yes, not even mommy. This is a little secret between daddy and Yeye," Ning Yechen explained.
Luo Hongye's confusion turned into a happy smile. "Daddy and Yeye's little secret! Yeye knows. I won't tell anyone."
Ning Yechen praised her, "Our Yeye is so good."
"Yeye, wait here. Daddy is going to help mommy. He'll be back soon," Ning Yechen said, drawing a barrier formation around a tree.
Luo Hongye nodded obediently. "Daddy, be careful."
Ning Yechen smiled confidently. "Don't worry, Yeye. No one in this world can beat your daddy!"
