Chapter 404 - Genjutsu

The three remaining aliens froze for a moment, stunned by how quickly their team had fallen. But as seasoned fighters of the church, they didn't allow fear to paralyze them. They had trained for moments like this, facing overwhelming odds and doing their duty regardless of the cost. Protecting this post was their mission, and even if the enemy was a thousand times stronger, they wouldn't back down.

The heavily armored soldier, their tank and strongest melee fighter, let out a ferocious roar and charged forward again. His strategy was simple but effective: keep the enemy's attention on him so his teammates could find an opening. He closed the distance quickly, raising his enormous fist and swinging it at Batman's Justice League Destroyer.

The armored mech moved just as swiftly. With a calculated motion, Batman slapped the soldier's fist aside using the mech's massive metal hand. Then, in a counterattack, the mech delivered a powerful uppercut straight to the alien's helmet. Sparks erupted from the impact as the two giants clashed, their strength evenly matched.

But the alien wasn't deterred. If anything, the blow seemed to fuel his resolve. He channeled all of his armor's energy into raw power, focusing solely on attacking. Each punch came faster and harder, creating shockwaves that echoed through the chamber. The halos of energy around his fists glowed brighter with every strike, and the sound of air being ripped apart followed each blow.

The alien had realized something important: this wasn't a fight he could win without taking risks. If he wanted any chance of victory, he would need to give everything he had, even if it meant sacrificing himself. His fighting style became reckless but devastating. Trading defense for offense, he threw punches at a furious pace, each one landing with enough force to dent Batman's armor. Sparks flew like blood from the battered mech, and small explosions erupted as circuits overloaded.

Batman fought back fiercely, but the Justice League Destroyer's armor began to give under the relentless assault. Deep dents formed in the plating, wires snapped, and after one particularly brutal blow, the mech's left arm was torn off. The alien soldier roared triumphantly and delivered a final, crushing punch that sent the mech crumpling to the ground in a heap of broken metal.

The alien stepped onto the wreckage, his chest heaving as he looked down at his defeated opponent. Pride swelled within him, and he threw back his head, letting out a triumphant laugh that echoed through the chamber.

But his victory was short-lived.

As he laughed, a strange sensation crept over him. His throat felt dry, and his body suddenly felt heavy and weak. His vision blurred as golden stars danced before his eyes, and he stumbled backward, disoriented. When he tried to steady himself, a loud whoosh filled his ears. Before he could react, a massive punch slammed into his helmet, sending him reeling.

When the alien regained his focus, he was stunned by what he saw. The Justice League Destroyer, which had been nothing more than a pile of wreckage moments ago, was standing again—fully intact and rushing at him with terrifying speed.

The alien soldier's instincts kicked in, and he fought back with everything he had. The two titans clashed again, exchanging devastating blows. The battle was brutal and chaotic, with sparks flying and chunks of armor being torn away. Once again, the alien soldier managed to bring the mech down, leaving it in pieces at his feet.

And once again, the strange sensation overtook him. His chest tightened as though a massive weight had been dropped on him. When he looked up, the Justice League Destroyer was standing once more, as if it had never been damaged.

The alien staggered back, his mind racing. Was the enemy invincible? Did it have unlimited regeneration abilities? Or was this some kind of trick? He glanced at his teammates for support, but they were staring at him with confusion and frustration.

From their perspective, the alien wasn't fighting at all. He was standing completely still, unresponsive, no matter how much they shouted at him. Unbeknownst to him, he had fallen victim to one of Batman's most unique tools: the Rope of Deception.

The Rope of Deception, an artifact crafted by the gods Vulcan and Hephaestus, was a counterpart to Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth. While the Lasso of Truth compelled honesty, the Rope of Deception created illusions so powerful that the victim believed them completely. The alien was trapped in a false reality, convinced he was fighting and defeating Batman over and over. In reality, he was standing frozen, disconnected from the actual battle.

[TL Note - Genjutsu]

With him neutralized, only two enemies remained.

The speedster darted around the battlefield like a blur, circling the Justice League Destroyer. He fired energy blasts and projectiles at rapid speed, but every attack was absorbed by the mech's plasma shields. Frustrated, he switched tactics, using his high speed to search for a weak point. But as he ran, his footing suddenly gave way.

The speedster slipped and tumbled forward uncontrollably, rolling across the floor like a spinning top. He slammed into a wall with a loud crash, disoriented and dazed.

Unknown to him, the floor had been coated with a near-frictionless substance. Developed using Batman's black technology, this special coating was designed specifically to counter speedsters. Without traction, their movements became uncontrollable. The faster they moved, the harder they fell. It was a tactic reminiscent of how The Flash often stumbled when dealing with his old nemesis Captain Cold.

The speedster struggled to get up, but before he could, a clay-like substance shot out from the Justice League Destroyer, exploding on impact. The sticky material expanded, pinning him to the wall. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn't break free.

"Cowardly tactics!" he yelled, thrashing in frustration. But it was no use. He was immobilized.

Now only one enemy remained.

The final alien, clad in liquid armor, prepared for his turn. His armor shifted and rippled across his body, constantly changing shape to adapt to the battle. It was both a weapon and a shield, making him a formidable opponent.

Batman advanced cautiously, using the Justice League Destroyer's plasma shields to block the alien's attacks while firing laser-guided missiles to force him to move. The alien dodged skillfully, but Batman was patient, waiting for the perfect moment.

When the opportunity came, Batman launched a foam-like projectile. It hit the alien squarely, expanding rapidly and trapping him in place. At first, the alien didn't panic. He activated his armor's liquid state, confident it could slip through the foam's gaps. But something went wrong.

The foam absorbed the liquid armor, breaking it down molecule by molecule. No matter how much the alien tried to resist, the foam consumed every drop of his armor, rendering it useless.

"What… what did you do?!" the alien shouted, panic clear in his voice.

Batman didn't answer. The Justice League Destroyer stepped forward and delivered a heavy iron punch, knocking the alien out cold.

The foam, a specialized tool nicknamed the Neptune Happy Bomb, was designed to neutralize liquid-based threats by absorbing and destabilizing liquid molecules. With this final weapon, Batman had defeated the last enemy.

The Justice League Destroyer stood victorious, its weapons smoking but its resolve unshaken. Despite overwhelming odds, Batman's careful planning, ingenuity, and unmatched strategy had turned the tide, proving once again why he was one of the greatest tacticians of all time.
