Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Final Strike

The moon hung high above the battlefield, casting long shadows as the fight between Lyfax and Eurynomos raged on. The forest echoed with the clash of steel and the hiss of dark magic.

"You can't win, Lyfax," Eurynomos sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "You're just a half-breed with borrowed power."

Lyfax, his breath ragged and his body bruised, met Eurynomos' gaze with unwavering determination. "I've come too far to lose now."

Eurynomos laughed, a sound cold and cruel. "You're already defeated. You just haven't realized it yet."

With a snarl, Eurynomos launched another barrage of dark energy. Lyfax dodged and countered with a swift slash from the Demonic Phantom Sword, but Eurynomos blocked it effortlessly. The force of their clash sent shockwaves through the forest.

Lyfax staggered back, feeling the weight of exhaustion. Blood trickled down his arm from a deep cut, but he tightened his grip on his sword. "You talk a lot for someone who's about to lose."

Eurynomos' eyes blazed with fury. "Lose? To you? I will end you, and then I'll bring darkness upon everything you hold dear."

Summoning all his strength, Lyfax activated Makkai: Kagearuki, darting forward with blinding speed. He slashed at Eurynomos, their blades meeting in a shower of sparks. But Eurynomos was relentless, his dark magic pushing Lyfax to his limits.

Ayushi and Katamatsu watched from a distance, their hearts pounding. Ayushi's protective barrier shimmered weakly, her energy nearly spent. "Lyfax, you have to hold on," she whispered, her voice filled with worry.

Eurynomos pressed his advantage, a twisted grin on his face. "Look at you, struggling just to stand. Is this the best you can do, half-breed?"

Lyfax's vision blurred, his strength waning. But he refused to give up. "I won't... let you win."

With a final, desperate effort, Lyfax called upon the power of Makkai Kōsoku no Kensei. Shadows wrapped around him, enhancing his speed and strength. He felt Ayushi's magic flowing through the Demonic Phantom Sword, a lifeline of hope.

Eurynomos' eyes widened in surprise. "What...?"

Lyfax moved like lightning, his strikes precise and deadly. He closed the distance between them in an instant, his sword cutting through Eurynomos' defenses. With a powerful slash, he struck Eurynomos across the chest, sending the demon staggering back.

"You... dare..." Eurynomos gasped, blood pouring from the wound. But even in his weakened state, he laughed. "You think this will stop me?"

Lyfax's expression was cold, his voice steely. "This ends now."

With one final surge of power, Lyfax unleashed a devastating attack. Shadows and light intertwined around his blade as he swung it with all his might. "Makkai Kōsoku no Kensei: Final Slash!"

The strike cleaved through Eurynomos, his body dissolving into dark mist. The forest fell silent, the oppressive aura of the demon finally lifted.

Lyfax stood over Eurynomos' fading form, his breath coming in heavy gasps. "You underestimated the strength of humans... and the bonds we share."

Eurynomos' eyes flickered with disbelief and rage as he faded away. "No... this can't be..."

As the last remnants of Eurynomos vanished, a chilling laugh echoed through the forest. The Uncrowned Demons emerged from the shadows, their eyes glinting with cruel amusement.

"Well, well," one of them sneered. "Eurynomos, defeated by a human. How pathetic."

Another demon laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. "Looks like the mighty Eurynomos wasn't so mighty after all."

Lyfax, still catching his breath, faced the new threat with unwavering resolve. "If you want a fight, you'll get one."

But the Uncrowned Demons merely chuckled, their interest waning. "Don't worry, half-breed. We've seen enough for now. We'll be back."

As they disappeared into the shadows, Lyfax finally allowed himself to relax, his body sagging with exhaustion. Katamatsu and Ayushi rushed to his side, relief and concern etched on their faces.

"You did it," Ayushi said softly, her voice filled with awe. "You defeated Eurynomos."

Lyfax nodded, his gaze steady. "It's not over yet. But we'll face whatever comes next together."

Katamatsu clapped a hand on Lyfax's shoulder. "Agreed. We'll stand against the darkness, no matter what."

The trio stood in the moonlit glade, their bonds stronger than ever. They had faced the darkness and emerged victorious, but they knew their journey was far from over. Together, they would continue to fight for a future free from the tyranny of the Uncrowned Demons.
