Chapter 5 - MELANIE'S POV

I stayed up late stalking Sasha and Chris's past girlfriends online. By the time I woke up the next day, my eyes were red and swollen, and I also had a nasty headache. I stood up and went to have a shower. Chris was still sleeping.

I wondered what he would say when he woke up and saw my eyes. He would scold me, of course, but lovingly. I got out of the shower and started to wipe my body with my towel. I smelled nice. Chris stirred.

I looked at him. He was sleeping so soundly. I tiptoed to him and placed my hand on his head, shifting wasps of hair that covered his forehead aside. I bent down and kissed his forehead. It made him stir again.

He was so beautiful. Did he know just how handsome he looked? That is why so many girls want to take him from me. They all want him, my man.

My eyes ran cold as I caressed his head. It was not easy dating such a young, handsome, wealthy man from an influential family. So many women were interested in him and made attempts to seduce him severely.

Last night, when he was about to sleep, I had asked Chris to tell me about his ex-girlfriends, as well as their names. He had been reluctant to say to me about them, but after a lot of pressing, he agreed.

He told me about their likes, dislikes, and handles.  I got to work. I started to go through all their profiles. There was something prevalent among these girls. I racked my brain, thinking about what it was.

Yes! I got it! All the girls he dated had long black hair. They were all also gorgeous. But they had a common quality; black hair.

I looked at my brown hair and sighed. So I was not his type. Why then did he fall for me?

$$$

I couldn't help thinking about the girls even when Chris drove me to his parent's house in the countryside later that week.

He kept glancing at me as he drove. I knew I was acting weird, but I couldn't help but fear that he might meet someone with long black hair and a banging body and fall for her. After all,  that was his type, and I was not.

The car tire entered into a pothole, causing the car to shake. My hair came to the front of my face, covering it. That pothole had to be very huge for it to have caused the car to do that.

"Are you fine?" Chris asked and helped tuck my hair behind my ears.

I nodded.

He placed his hand atop mine and squeezed it. Then he withdrew his hand and focused on driving the car.

I looked out of the car and sighed. I don't know why his parents still lived in the countryside, but it did not bother me. I was excited to see them.

I started to wonder what his parents would look like. One of them would have blonde hair, for sure. I imagined that it would be his mom. She would be the definition of an old beauty, kind and soft and sweet.  His father would be old and kind. He might have a ranch like my grandparents did when I was younger, which would be used to rear animals, and would own a cozy cottage where he and his wife had raised my darling, Chris.

Chris had told me that although his parents were multi-billionaires, they had lived a very simple life and that he had been raised in the countryside for a while.

So, I had expected the traditional countryside house system to be how his parents' house would look like.

But that was not the case.

I have never been so wrong in all my life. His parents lived in a freaking villa! A freaking luxurious villa with several servants running about.

I was so surprised when I saw the house. I was so astonished that I had even asked Chris several times before we went in if we were in the right place.

He chuckled and said we were.

"Whoa! How did your parents build such a place in this area?"

"Generational wealth," he said and they both laughed.

They entered the house and got face to face with his parents. That was the last day they ever had peace between them and the beginning of the end of their relationship.
