The semester soon came to an end and along with it came graduation.
I sat in the middle row with Lei Yuanyun by my right and Mu Haoran with Zhao Ranchu at my left.
It was a boring affair but we watched with relish. After the speeches, it was time for the graduating parties to receive their diplomas.
Lei Yuanyun looked at the stage with misty eyes and whispered.
"One day, that will be us"
I glanced over at Lei Yuanyun as his words lingered in the air. His misty eyes betrayed a mixture of hope and melancholy. I smiled softly, though the weight of his statement pressed against my chest. In a couple of years, that would indeed be us, standing in front of this crowd, bidding farewell to our school years and stepping into a world far more uncertain than this comfortable, structured environment we had known.
"Yeah," I muttered under my breath, trying to match his tone of wistful reverence. "It'll come sooner than we think."
