She felt fear when I told her that I was a parasite. "What can you do in my body?" she wanted to know in a panic. She was understandably scared, her pulse was racing and she was sweating.
"Nothing out of the ordinary. Just control your body and access your memories."
She was very surprised to hear of my abilities. "You can't do anything to my child in my womb?" she gave me a suspicious look. I thought about it, because I really hadn't thought about it.
"I don't know. I've never thought about it," I scratched my chin.
"Maybe if I want to do something. Take the baby out, maybe not feed the baby," I added. She was more scared than before.
"But in the end, I have no interest in your child," she glared at me when I told her. "In the end, I want to survive inside you, not fight you."
She slowly calmed down, her panic disappearing. Although I want revenge, I can't betray my landlady. Again she thanked me for not wanting to do anything bad. I felt she wanted to slowly return to reality.
"Before you wake up any time soon, I want you to know that your fifth child is ready to come into the world." This information surprised her. Once again, she wanted to know how I knew. "I feel it," I indicated to her before she woke up in a wet bed. It was early in the morning when she made herself a coffee. It had been a surprise for her to receive information from me. She could feel the baby wriggling in her stomach. She also felt abrupt movements in her stomach when she was feeding Mina.
Immediately afterwards, she wanted to put more plants in the ground in the garden. After an hour, her waters broke and a white fluid came out. It hurt and she screamed loudly. Zach and the mother-in-law, who were still asleep, woke up and ran to me in the garden. They saw the liquid on the ground. The mother-in-law knew immediately what to do. Zach followed her instructions and the next ambulance took them to the doctor in fifteen minutes.
She squatted on the bed, the medical equipment connected and contractions started. She felt the pain more than usual. The baby came out of her earlier than expected. The doctor placed several epidurals in her spine to make the birth less painful, but she still felt the pain.
More doctors came in and were prepared for the birth. The midwife instructed Chrissy to spread her legs and take a deep breath. She then had to push the baby out. Chrissy moaned, screamed and did everything she could to push the baby out. Her face turned red and she strained. The doctor pulled the baby out. "Just a little more," he instructed her to make more effort.
The newborn came out. In the doctor's hands, it began to cry. Still attached to the umbilical cord, he handed the baby to Chrissy. She cried, wailing her soul out. She rocked the baby a little, touched it slowly with her hands. Her name: Stefanie Hobbs.
Over the next few hours, the child's health had to be checked. The midwife rocked the baby after Chrissy had fed it. Zach left me alone again as she nodded off. Just as the food was delivered, I took over her body and started to enjoy the food. I enjoyed the time. Not just because I had control of a body again, but because the longer I had control of Chrissy's body, the more I would learn about her and possibly one day replace her consciousness.
