"In nomine Dei Omnipotentis, peto lumen sapientiae et claritatem mentis. Aperi mentem et cor meum ut intellegam doctrinas et sapientiam quas vis transmittere."
I was surprised when my hidden medallion suddenly lit up under my clothes. Right after, my mind seemed to brighten up, like someone was telling me that my first words were for clarity and wisdom. It felt like I could shorten it too.
"In nomine Dei, da mihi sapientiam."
This will be my chant whenever I need to clear my mind. Hmm, can I use this for academics? I'll get better at English! "Yehey!" I thought.
Since the chant was working, I quickly memorized the shortened version and read the following chants in my mind.
I liked another chant:
"In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, da mihi fortitudinem et firmitatem corporis, et agilitatem in omni motu. Amen."
For strength, resilience, and agility! Wow! I can use this for volleyball. Is this considered cheating?
"In nomine Patris, da mihi fortitudinem et agilitatem"
The medallion lights up whenever I activate a chant. I've learned two chants! It felt like someone was whispering to combine these two into one.
"In nomine Dei Patris, da mihi sapientiam, fortitudinem, et agilitatem"
I don't need to pray for this to God anymore since I have virtues to make the chant work.
"Sapientiam! Fortitudinem! Agilitatem!"
These three chants will activate my mind, strengthen me, and make me agile!
This is enough for now! I'm so happy with the chants I've learned!
I wanted to stop studying the chants, but I felt uneasy like someone was urging me to continue. So I decided to go see my aunt downstairs.
WHHHOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!
I was surprised at how fast I moved down the stairs towards my aunt! I was like a gust of wind in speed!
AUFER SAPIENTIAM, FORTITUDINEM, AGILITATEM!
My aunt chanted quickly and loudly to stop me from crashing into her! I suddenly stopped. My heart pounded like I had just run a race.
"Don't forget to break each chant you utter, no matter how softly, even if it's just in your mind."
"Wow, Tiya! I activated three chants."
"Great! Your virtues are indeed strong. That's why you don't need to pray to God the Father when activating chants. As God the Father said, He lives within us. Our body is His temple. So we must keep it clean, free of illness, and unscarred. The same goes for our mind."
"But how can I stay clean if I no longer fast and do penance?"
"There's a chant for that. Discover it another time. Also, look at your medallion."
I pulled out the medallion necklace from under my shirt and noticed it had turned black.
"Clean it well before you sleep tonight. It is the temple of a strong angel. It helps you pray for forgiveness from God the Father for your repeated use of chants."
"Tiya... If using chants is this dangerous, why did you teach me?"
"Because we need to save our race. A time is coming when a race wants to conquer the realms. Only your father Iseng and I are left of the Babaylan. We saw you and your mother as a great blessing to us. Iseng's children have no interest in being Babaylan, and I kept myself pure, never laying with a man. I vowed my entire life to remain pure. I never let a man touch me and completely removed lust from my being. It's not easy to be the strongest and purest Babaylan. So, we see you and your mother as the saviors of our race. I hope you understand. You don't need to sacrifice like I did. Try to remain a virgin until the age of eighteen, and you may conceive at nineteen. If your mind is touched by lust or any form of carnality, try to fight it, even using chants if necessary. Please listen, Leia, my child..."
I just cried and hugged my aunt. I collapsed on the floor, clinging to her lap, and wept.
