Chapter 4 - The Beginning.

Kyle and the other boy were given a low-rank beast fang that resembled a mini sword.

[Process complete!!!]

[Copied Martial Skill activated!!]

The boy dashed toward Kyle, about to slash him. Kyle dodged the attack immediately. Suddenly, Kyle noticed that he couldn't control his body anymore; the system had taken over his body functionality. Kyle swung his sword at the boy. The boy managed to dodge it and attacked Kyle again.

Kyle realized that the system had copied the boy's moves, so there was no way he would lose in this test. It was most likely to end as a tie again.

After multiple attacks and blocks, neither of them could land a blow on the other. James ended the match and declared it a tie, just as Kyle had thought. Kyle grinned; he was happy it ended as a tie.

Kyle became furious when he saw the system notification. He really wanted to gain more exp points so he could level up.The boy came closer to Kyle and stretched his hand for a handshake. Kyle hesitated for a while because he wasn't the accommodating type.

Ever since the people who claimed to be his family betrayed him, he couldn't trust anyone else as long as they were human. Kyle decided to accept the handshake.

"My name's Eddie. I love the skills you displayed. Can we be friends?" Eddie suggested with a smile.

Kyle stared at him, wondering if the boy was a fool. They had just met, and he expected them to be friends. But Kyle accepted the offer, trying to play along with what he called Eddie's behavior as fake.

"Name's Kyle. Sure... we can be whatever you just said right now," Kyle said as he withdrew his hand from Eddie.

The two of them were immediately teleported back to the grandstand. Once all the candidates were done with the test, only eighty candidates had passed, sending the remaining twenty back home and reassuring them to try the test again next year.

The eighty candidates who had passed, including Kyle, were escorted to a futuristic building made of glass. The building was located behind the academy itself. James called it their new home.

Eddie was now attached to Kyle. He followed Kyle around like a dog, making Kyle feel uncomfortable, but he tolerated him. They were led into the building. The student hostel building, standing at ten stories tall, housed 1,200 spacious rooms. Each room was designed to be very large, measuring approximately 8 meters (26 feet) wide. This generous room size allowed for ample space to accommodate up to three students comfortably, with room for three large beds, sizable wardrobes, and various other furnishings and amenities. Each room featured floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing an abundance of natural light to flood the space. The windows were made of specialized smart glass that could automatically adjust its tint and opacity based on the time of day and weather conditions, providing optimal lighting and temperature control.

The rooms were equipped with advanced voice-activated smart home systems that allowed students to control various functions with simple voice commands. This included adjusting the lighting, temperature, window tints, entertainment systems, and even requesting maintenance assistance. Each workstation featured a high-resolution touchscreen display that could be used for studying, video conferencing, and accessing the building's comprehensive digital library and learning resources. In-room amenities included a compact kitchen with advanced appliances, a private bathroom with a smart shower system that monitored water usage and temperature, and a dedicated relaxation area with immersive virtual reality entertainment systems. The building's infrastructure was designed with sustainability in mind, featuring advanced energy-efficient systems, water recycling, and waste management.

The students was given a small transparent screen that acted as a key to their room. On the screen, a number and key logo could be seen. Kyle looked at the screen; the number displayed was "Room 15. Third floor." Kyle smiled. He had always loved the high grounds. He couldn't help but feel jealous of the students whose rooms were located on the tenth floor.Eddie came from behind Kyle with a smile.

"What's your room number? Mine is 15," Eddie asked. Eddie's voice resonated multiple times in Kyle's mind. Kyle stared at him with a face that showed he wasn't happy about what Eddie just said. They were in the same room.

"Why? Why does it have to be like this?" Kyle thought. He showed off a fake smile to Eddie as he displayed his room card.

Eddie was happy to see that they were in the same room. Kyle wasn't happy at all; he felt like the world had dropped an atomic bomb on him.

"Okay, new students. This is your quarters. So take a rest for the day and explore the academy. You might meet other students, by the way. Those are the second-year students. So remember to be kind and obedient. Bye-bye,"

James said, walking away from them. Each student made their way to the rooms they were given. The girls' quarters started from the fifth floor and ended on the tenth floor, while the boys' quarters started from the first floor and ended on the fourth floor. The boys couldn't access the girls' quarters, and the same went for the girls.

The hostel building seemed to only accommodate the first years. A separate building was beside it, which belonged to the second years. An elevator led them to each floor. Kyle and Eddie entered the elevator and selected the floor they were headed to on a screen placed on the elevator's wall. The elevator door closed as the two of them were taken to the third floor. They arrived at the third floor in about three seconds—approximately. It was actually fast.

The room was right in front of the elevator. The two moved closer to their room door. A screen similar to the one on the gate was on it. Kyle placed his card on it. It displayed green, and the door slowly vanished. Kyle and Eddie went in. The door reappeared once they were inside.Inside the room, another boy was there. He was organizing his stuff. Eddie carried only a bag behind him. Even though he seemed to be from a rich family, clothes and tools were already arranged inside the wardrobes. The clothes could be adjusted to fit them with just a single click of a button.

On the clothes, a logo could be seen, displaying "First Year." There were a total of three wardrobes inside the room, each belonging to a student. Kyle chose the bed located at the rear end of the room.

Eddie went over to meet the other boy, who seemed to be the shy type."My name's Eddie. Can we be friends?" Eddie suggested. The boy looked at him; it seemed that this was the first time someone had suggested being his friend.

"My name's Jake. Yes, we can be friends," Jake replied to Eddie, stammering. Eddie showed a warm smile toward him.

Kyle looked at the both of them, thinking they were just performing a charade.

"Does he have a talent for asking people to be his friends or something? This guy must be having a slight crash in his brain," Kyle thought as he settled down, checking out the clothes in his wardrobe. The system screen popped up:
