Empty..
That is all his words are to her at this point.
Her father had broken his promise of making time for her for the umpteenth time. Although his absence was to be expected due to his high position in government and him owning a plethora or business; it does not seem to hurt her any less.
Her slim and dainty fingers reach for her long, silvery-white hair; to twirl the silky strands in an attempt to soothe her emotions. Unfortunately for her; the disappointment only grows instead of dissipating.
A long, drawn-out sigh escapes her lips as her expression becomes sullen. Her sky-blue eyes focus on the empty chair across the table. The person who should be occupying that seat should be the Lord, her father.
The beautiful woman's expression at the table causes the concern of a small figure standing to the side. A soft and gentle voice calls out to the one who is seated, "Lady Edione?"
The figure happened to be the Edione's personal servant, who is known as Cecilia. With her gentle demeanor and her short, small frame; she looked quite adorable. Most assume she is quite young due to her youthful face, but that is not the case. She's nearly ten years older than Edione.
She had been given to the Lady after her mother's passing. At first, Edione had assumed it was a way of cheering her up so she wouldn't be alone. Seeing how her father had continued to distance himself over the past few years… it may have only been to distract her.
Cecilia steps away from the wall, and clears her throat before speaking once more. "My Lady, you should eat before it gets cold."
Edione would glance at what would be considered a feast, settling her focus on the dish directly in front of her. On top of the plate sits a butter soaked lobster tail with a side of fresh greens and bread. It is her usual favorite that she always enjoys. The inner glutton inside of her had turned up its nose this time due to her mood, quite literally making this meal completely unappetizing!
Out of slight frustration, she smacks her hands against the table and slowly lifts herself up to stand. Her voice quietly rings out with a defeated tone, "I am no longer hungry. Clean up the mess.."
Her feet quickly carried her to the grand door and she swung it open with ease. She exits before Cecilia could get the chance to protest. The dining hall sank into a deep silence after the loud 'clack' of the closing door, leaving the servant to deal with the "mess" alone.
.....
While making her way to the stairs at the end of the corridor, Eidone pauses outside her father's office and stares at the door for a moment. Her emotions seem to get the better of her as she approaches. Her hand nearly grabbed the handle of the door but a loud frustrated groan of sorts snaps her out from her daze. It came from inside of the room and it was unfamiliar to her.
It wouldn't hurt to eavesdrop a little, right?
The unknown voice would state frantically, "Lord Antonius, we really can not wait any longer! The ritual needs to be performed before dawn. The 'goddess' is making the curse worse because she is getting impatient!"
It was a well known fact that her father was not religious or superstitious in any way. So the sudden skeptical sounding laughter coming from him was not a surprise.
He was a man of pure logic and reason and denied their country's god who was known as Adan the creator.
"Please take this seriously! I shall prepare the sacrificial altar.." The unknown voice gradually gets quieter as Edione subconsciously backs away from the door.
The conversation seems to be ending soon and as much as she would like to know more.. She knows full well her punishment would be harsh for eavesdropping.
With that thought she rushed up the stairs, barely making it to the balcony as the office door swung open.
