Chapter 10 - The day they met

It was already the next day, students who were eager to join their likened sports had already reached the grounds and the most famous one like volleyball, swimming which needed forms to fill up was in lane.

But aside from all that, the four friends were no where but with their P.e teacher Mr. Cho.

Who was arranging the sports club room and Auron volunteered to help.

He didn't want to join the team,as he continuously pestered him for his way out.

He was nagging here and there keeping the boxes up and down in the air, coaxing him to let him just run then playing volleyball.

"Students are dying to be in that team, just what soil are you made of?" Mr. Cho said, agitated.

"Uh! Please, i can't anymore, even though I wasn't a high schooler, you made me play with them as a fill in,  I have my own interest, just let it slide this time."

"NO, you are already in" Mr.cho said.

"I'm not, I didn't get through the forms and any physical check, Are you sliding it?, isn't it wrong with the principles of games?''

"Shut it, Auron. just play with us" Terry who was sitting on the piled up boxes licking his candy, said.

Auron looked at him furiously, before shoving him off the boxes,"just don't run your mouth, move your hands too" he spat.

Terry crunches his nose "you do, I won't" he dusted his hands.

Meanwhile Mr. Cho handed the boxes to Garam who was mounted on the stairs.

"Learn something from him Auron, Ms. kinsley selected him too but he isn't throwing tantrums like you."

"Cuz he was added to Running, why would he say no to that?" Auron scoffs, and gets sad about his own fate.

"Please my crush would end up thinking I'm older than her, you already had me play with older students, she is going to join this year, let me leave a good impression this time around." He joined his hands in front of him.

"You already are famous" Mr. Cho said, putting down his hands.

"Famous, him?" Ben asked. His brows raised.

He was dossing over a wooden bench laying at the corner.

"Eh.. you were here? When did you get inside?" Auron asked.

"What do you mean?, I came with you guys." he said, folding his hand beneath his head.

"Why are you not helping me then?" Auron gritted.

"Why should I?"  Ben teased.

Auron was the only one, doing the arranging works with his teacher. though, all four of them were here, but given the looks of it, Terry was only here for relaxation and Ben was there to kill time. And about Garam, he just likes mounting so he was somehow also not included in helping earnestly.

"Scrap that," Auron brush his hands over his face.  "Sometimes I really get annoyed Why does this man have it easier?"  He pointed to Garam who frowned at his comments.

"Simple, he isn't the one our team needed." Mr. Cho blatantly said.

"Ohh, that's some hard judgement." Terry muttered.

Mr.cho lifted a box to hand it over to Garam, "you have an exceptional talent in running, given you were chosen there, don't regress our name." He said.

''He wouldn't,as long as he didn't touched the volleyball"  ben chuckled, for which Garam only grimaced.

Though his hands were arranging things, his mind was somewhere else. just then a binocular caught his attention.

"The rest of the work I'm leaving onto you all, since you all seems to have a lot of time to spare." Mr.cho said, before dusting his hands and dressed off the dirt and moving out.

"Are we really going to do this all" Terry asked.

"It's not that much" Auron said, shrugging his shoulder as he had already done a lot.

"...Hey, ben said, sitting up gaining their attention.

"I'm already imagining my parents at the tournament"  ben chuckled,

how his parents always seem excited about his school activities, they must miss their youth time.

"I guess it's different for me, it's just my siblings" Terry said.

"For me it's my grandmother" Auron smiled.

"Didn't you say your crush is coming" Terry narrowed his eyes.

"yeah i did"

"I knew he was lying about his crush, such privileges never landed for us" Ben muttered.

"So is she coming?" He asked.

Auron shook his head, "She couldn't anymore, she is old, her joints hurt, but still always eager to know how my day went?" He smiled.

"You must be sad, right?, we all have someone coming this year but you live alone with your grandma" Terry asked.

"Well.. i would have been sad,but somehow a feeling deep inside, always blooming within me, with the passage of time, and how people are changing, given my grandma is already old. i can't stay idle to this new generation tact.

For me someone seeing my return is still a blessing whether they are doing it out of love, generosity or were pushed too, it's a lot of richness for my heart. I'm content with it."

Garam's mind was stunned with the Auron words.

His mother's sudden visit, her bringing Gyu's name without saying his name, he knows it all.

"There is someone waiting for you to look back" His mother's words echoed in his mind from his last meeting.

There have been a lot of instances when he really wanted to turn back but would it worth it?

The bitterness he had enveloped in his heart spoke louder than his subconscious feelings.

'Would looking back really have filled his helpless yearning to contend with it.' He tsked.

He directed the binocular towards the large window which opened to the open field area.

"What is with this monologue, where is our tactless Auron," Ben sprinted to his face tapping his forehead to check him if he's literally lost it or his health is talking.

"I guess I'll be in the volleyball team this year too" Auron said, looking at Terry who was intently listening to him.

"I agree"  he said, he was silent after Auran said those words, he also would have sprinted to his face, teasing him. but the weight of his words keeps him anchored to his place.

"Knowing someone is there, seeing and appreciating your every hardship, their general gesture to keep us motivated, I loved it all" he said, thinking how his siblings grow him.

"It must have been hard for them to do it alone, for not abandoning us so that we don't go through the same." Terry said walking towards Ben.

Meanwhile Garam didn't want to think anymore he just played with the binocular in his hands, but his mind didn't listen to him.

"Will he see her? Only her?, he couldn't see her no matter how much he tried to remember, her face never appeared to him,not even in a dream."

But Terry's words perplexed his heart, seeing and appreciating every hardship? At what cost?, he was wretched off of his precious person.

His longed for his sister will never satiate.

He bit his lips stopping his emotions to smear his character in front of his friends.

but Just then, his eyes grows big as if the god heard his plea, he see her running towards him, he stumbled at his sight, he desperately zoom in,it must be his anemoia, it can't be possible but still he saw her, running frantically towards him.her black hair were wet due to sweat, just the same way whenever she was chased by dogs, and speedily make it home.

"....Hey," ben whispered, keeping his hand on Terry's shoulder.

"Is everything fine back in your home?"

Terry frowned,but nods.

"Then why the heck you both are saying sentimental things?"

"Even Garam is silent, do you forget what his mother said?" he whispered shouted to both of them, "isn't he running away from his family, how uncomfortable your words must have felt to him."

However Terry had different motives, he was being reprimanded but his gaze fixed on Garam.

'Just what have you gone through to give up on these things like this, not everyone has privileged to be born in a complete family' he wanted to ask him, but he couldn't, moreover he already has placed his neck in fire for the lie which going to be burst tomorrow, but he wanted to ask one thing.

But before he could, Garam tossed the binocular and ran frantically towards the field. 'even if it's just his desperation, or a meaningless mirage of his mind, she must be afraid', this is all he was thinking, his heart was racing, he skips the stairs as he frantically makes towards hallways.

Meanwhile, the three of them were shocked, what on earth had suddenly happened to him?

They rushed towards his direction.

Garam was not in his senses, whom he collided with, and who he had pushed to, he only run outside. His vision was clear, his Gyu was running towards him, she looked terrified, is someone chasing her?,he couldn't see clearly other than his sister,  he needed to calm her, he couldn't reach her instantly, he didn't know how he got the volleyball in his hand and he smacked it towards that blurred figure behind Gyu.

As he makes a run towards her in the open field.

She looked like she was at the end of her wits as she fell to her knees with a bang sound from her background.

Garam stopped 2 feet away, he still couldn't believe it,she is in front of him, he takes steadily steps towards her.

enveloping his fear, longing and sadness, his breath was ragged.

Deep inside he knew it could be just an imagination, and he might be awakened again but he let himself to be consumed by the illusion.

Though he was nervous for it to disappear in thin air, he brushed his hands through her hair just like old times.

"Y-you all right, Gyu?" that's all he could said, through his ragged senses.

He internally counted the seconds that might take to disappear this fleeting illusion.

But the figure leaned into his touch, as it made eye contact with him.

And a male voice broke in his ear, "so have you decided?, should I call you Oppa or hyung?"

He was stunned as he looked at her, then as if recognition passed through his eyes, he jerked his hand away and moved past him, after taking the ball he turned back and trudged in the opposite direction.

"Old habits die hard, huh?" The figure mocked him.

"How long are we going to be like this?" He shouted.

Garam heard him.

His feet were slow, he wanted to end this punishment.

How could he forget how his sister looked?, how he could have a dream of her, when all of his life a doppelganger played with his emotions?

why will she ever come to his dreams, when he didn't even remember her on her death?

'Why would she, when he couldn't recognise her from him?'

"Gyu..." He muttered, "her name, is it because he has your name, I'm seeing you in him?" he bit his lips.

"Cuzz if this is what I'm feeling, then just stop appearing, I'm sick of it."

He stumbled, and his gaze fell on the large mirror, he stared coldly.

Gyu was still in his position looking toward him but a person with a knife in his hand was about to attack him.

"I'm ashamed to think it was you, even now'' he muttered, as he spun the volleyball in the air, and smacked towards the person leaving him unconscious, before leaving the area, as students mobbed the place hearing intruder commotions.
