The moon cast a soft, enchanting light over the sky, transforming it from a deep ocean blue to a mystical darkness.

The crackling of the campfire, the chirping of insects, and the peaceful silence all contributed to the magical atmosphere of the night.

Fujino sat on the hard ground, huddled close to the fire for warmth in the chilly air. A squirrel skewered on a stick was slowly roasting over the flames.

He wasn't just waiting for the food to cook; he had various plant stems scattered around him, weaving and braiding them together in an attempt to make a rope.

Lost in thought, he stared off into the distance. It had been three days since he was transported to this new world, and to say he was blindsided would be an understatement.

(Flashback)

"What do you mean "There are no adventure's guild in japan?" I thought this was a fantasy world!"

"Well… it's a bit complicated. You were sent to to a diffrent world alright, just not a fantasy one,"

"So, i'm in an alternate version of Japan? Did we win world war two or something?"

"In a sense, yeah. You were transported to a fictional world's version of taisho-era Japan. More specifically, demon slayer. I'm sure you've heard of it before."

"I have, but…"

<—>

And that's the big problem for Fujiro; he knew almost nothing about Demon Slayer.

It would be ridiculous to claim he hadn't heard of it. With some of the best animation in any series, it's no surprise it became popular, and its manga sales show that. However, that doesn't mean he was familiar with the story. He was clueless about the plot, the setting, the characters, or the power system.

All he really knew was what the main character looked like and that the villains were demons.

'At least i'm Japan,' He was honestly relieved. Had he not been sent to a diffrent Japan, then he would've most likely had to learn and assimilate into a new culture. Something he wasn't enthusiastic about.

The only downside is that there isn't any magic here —as far as he's aware-- like shooting fireballs from his arm. Using Magic is a childhood dream for him.

Fujino shook his head, deciding to think about that later. He turned to the slowly roasting squirrel and turned it.

Then, he focused on making a makeshift rope, which turned out to be more time consuming than he expected. But in the end, he succeeded.

He held the rope in his hands and then activated Observe.

[Handmade rope

Rarity: common - durability: 15/15

A rope made out of plant stems of various sizes, an essential tool for surviving in the wilderness]

Fujino would be the first to admit that the Observe skill was the most useful in his arsenal. He soon discovered that it had no cooldown, so he could use it whenever he wanted. This also skill enables him to determine if the food or water is safe for consumption.

During his three-day stay, he also acquired a variety of skills.

[Cooking (Passive) (LV 2/100): Ever since the discovery of fire, Cooking has been a staple in human culture. Enhances the flavor of Cooked items by 4%

Skinning (Passive) (LV 3/100): Hunter gatherers have always relied on animal hide to stay warm during bad weather. Increases hide gained from an animal by 3%

Foraging (Passive) (LV 1/100): Why buy food when you can search and get it for free? Increases the amount of wild food by 1%]

Of course, he had no idea how he would supposedly benefit from them. Until he remembered that demons exist and the laws of physics can take a backseat here.

He also discovered two other things: Inventory, which allowed him to store up to 50 items in a pocket dimension, and Attribute Points (AP). Each time he leveled up, he would get two (AP) which he could spend on his status to make himself stronger.

When he calmly asked Xeno why he hadn't mentioned these to him, he replied in his ever irritating tone, "You didn't ask, duh."

Fujino promised himself that he would shove his foot up Xeno's ass if he ever sees him.

"Status."

Fujino added both points into strength, feeling a slight burning sensation throughout his muscles. It disappeared quickly, for which he was thankful.

Fujino checked on the squirrel, then pulled it off the campfire to enjoy his bland dish.

'I need to find a village or a town. If i'm going to live here then at least i should buy some spices.' he glanced down. His clothes were dirty and sweaty. 'And I need a shower.'

Fujino's musing ground to a halt when he felt… something. There was a feeling telling him that something was wrong.

He stood up and looked around. The full moon casting enough light for him to see his surroundings.

Fujino snapped his head when he heard rustling. Oh, just a rabbit' Fujino let out a breath he didn't knew he held. But was confused when the rabbit -who should be asleep during this time of the day- ran away, not paying any attention to him.

This put him on edge, that rabbit was clearly running away from something.

Taisho-era secrets!

Fujino really enjoyed watching wilderness survival shows! He used to stay up late as a child to watch them, and had taken up camping as a hobby. Unfortunately circumstances had prevented from taking it up and eventually lost interest as a whole.

I got sick with the flu, and let me tell you, it sucked. A lot. But hey, I'm back and fully recovered. The next part is when the real fun starts.
