Chapter 31 - Krisha's Feelings

As dawn broke over the sprawling campus of Zirabia Magic Heights Academy, the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the soft rustle of leaves in the gentle morning breeze. The academy, once a battleground of chaos, was slowly regaining its former splendor. The towering buildings, which had been marred by the recent battles, were gradually being restored, and the grounds, once littered with debris, were now beginning to flourish with life once more.

Kazu walked alongside Krisha, the two of them moving at a leisurely pace, their footsteps echoing faintly on the cobblestone path. The first light of the day bathed the academy in a warm, golden hue, casting long shadows that danced playfully across the ground. Kazu's heart felt lighter than it had in days, and he couldn't help but let a smile creep onto his face as he took in the sight of the academy coming back to life.

"It's good to see everything getting back to normal," Kazu remarked, his voice breaking the comfortable silence between them. He turned to Krisha, his eyes bright with relief. "The academy is starting to look like it used to. It's like everything's finally going to be okay."

Krisha glanced at him, her expression softening as she saw the happiness in his eyes. "Yes," she agreed, her voice filled with a quiet determination. "Everything will be alright, Kazu. It might take some time, but we'll get there."

For a moment, they walked in silence, the weight of the recent events still lingering in the air. The academy had been through so much, and so had they. But in that moment, as the morning sun warmed their faces, it felt like there was hope on the horizon.

Kazu hesitated, a thought nagging at the back of his mind. He turned his gaze to Krisha, his tone more serious as he asked, "Oh, by the way, about Soradia... You mentioned that your family lives there, right?"

Krisha's steps faltered slightly, the mention of her homeland bringing a shadow to her face. "Yes," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "That's where I'm from. It's where my family is."

Kazu bit his lip, unsure of how to broach the subject. "Mizawa... she said she destroyed the entire capital of Soradia..." His words hung in the air, heavy with the implication of what that could mean.

Krisha's face grew pale, her expression tightening as she processed his words. "We don't live in the central part of Soradia," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper. "So I'm hoping... I'm praying that my family wasn't caught in the destruction Mizawa caused."

Kazu could hear the fear in her voice, the uncertainty that gripped her heart. He wanted to say something, anything, to ease her worries, but he knew there were no guarantees. Instead, he simply whispered, "I hope so too, Krisha. I really do."

They continued walking, the silence between them now filled with unspoken fears and the weight of the unknown. Tears welled up in Krisha's eyes, her composure slowly crumbling under the strain. "I still haven't received any messages or letters from my family," she admitted, her voice trembling. "I'm so scared, Kazu... I don't know what's happened to them..."

Kazu's heart ached as he watched Krisha struggle with her emotions. Seeing her in pain was almost unbearable. He reached out, gently placing a hand on her shoulder, trying to offer some comfort. "But... you don't live in the central part of Soradia, right?" he said, his voice filled with a quiet reassurance. "It's unlikely that your family was affected by what Mizawa did. We just have to stay positive, okay? Let's hope for the best."

Krisha looked up at him, her tears glistening in the soft morning light. Despite her fear, she managed a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Kazu... I don't know what I'd do without you."

Kazu returned her smile, feeling a warm sense of pride in his chest. "It's nothing," he said, trying to downplay his own emotions. He lifted his gaze to the sky, the endless blue stretching out above them. "Look at the sky, Krisha. It's so beautiful today. And the flowers... they're starting to bloom again. It's like the academy is coming back to life."

Krisha followed his gaze, her eyes softening as she took in the sight. "You're right," she murmured. "The sky is beautiful... and the flowers too."

Kazu nodded, his voice taking on a thoughtful tone. "We should always try to find moments like this, you know? Moments that remind us that life can be beautiful, even when things are tough. We only get to live once, so we should always choose to be happy. No matter what."

Krisha's heart swelled with gratitude. "Thank you, Kazu. You always know how to lift my spirits... You make everything seem like it's going to be okay."

Kazu chuckled softly, feeling a bit bashful at her praise. "I just want us all to be happy, Krisha. We've been through so much, but there's still so much to look forward to."

As they walked, Kazu suddenly had an idea. "How about we head to the library for a while?" he suggested, his tone brightening. "We could read up on some Affinity books. It might be a nice distraction."

Krisha smiled, shaking her head slightly. "I'm not really into reading," she admitted, "but I'll go with you if you want."

Kazu grinned, pleased with her response. "That's fine," he said. "Just come with me to borrow a book, and then we can head back to our dorms. You can take care of whatever you need to do, and I'll do some reading."

Krisha nodded, agreeing easily. "Sure, Kazu. That sounds like a plan... Ah, Kazu..."

Kazu glanced at her, curious about the sudden change in her tone. "Yeah? What is it?"

Krisha hesitated, her cheeks flushing a deep pink as she struggled to find the right words. "I... I like you, Kazu," she finally blurted out, her voice trembling with nervousness.

Kazu froze, his eyes widening in surprise. His heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words. "You... like me?" he repeated, his mind racing. "Like... in what way?"

Krisha's face turned even redder, but she stood her ground, her voice growing firmer. "I like you, Kazu," she said, louder this time, her emotions laid bare. "I've liked you for a while now."

Kazu stared at her, his cheeks now matching her blush. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, trying to process what she had just said. "Ahh... but, we're still really young, aren't we?" he finally managed to say, his voice wavering slightly. "I mean, I like you too, Krisha, but... we're just kids, right? There's so much we don't know yet..."

Krisha's determination didn't waver, her gaze steady as she looked into his eyes. "It's okay," she said softly. "I'll wait for you, Kazu... no matter how long it takes."

Kazu felt his heart swell with emotion, a mix of happiness and confusion swirling within him. He smiled, a tender expression that spoke of his own feelings. "I will too, Krisha... I'll wait for you too."

As Kazu and Krisha continued their conversation, they reached the imposing entrance of the Zirabia Magic Heights Academy library. The building was a marvel of architecture, with its high, arched ceilings and grand columns. As they pushed open the heavy wooden doors, a cool draft met them, carrying the unmistakable scent of aged paper and leather.

Kazu's eyes widened in amazement as he took in the sight before him. The library's vast expanse was filled with towering bookshelves that seemed to stretch endlessly toward the ceiling. "This library is incredible," he said, his voice filled with awe. "Look at how high the shelves go."

Krisha, equally impressed, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, they say the Zirabia library is one of the most extensive in the realm. It's said to have every kind of book you could ever need."

Kazu's excitement was palpable. "That's exactly why I'm here. I'm eager to find books on the six affinity elements. I want to learn as much as I can about them."

Krisha scanned the room, her gaze settling on a figure behind a large wooden desk. "Let's ask Hera for help. She's the librarian here, and I'm sure she knows exactly where to find the books you need."

Kazu followed Krisha's gaze. "Who is she?"

Krisha pointed to the librarian with a smile. "That's Hera. She's responsible for managing this library. If anyone knows where to find specific books, it's her."

Kazu nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's go ask her."

Krisha approached Hera, who was busy organizing a stack of books on her desk. The librarian looked up, her eyes warm and welcoming. "Hera," Krisha began, "Kazu is looking for books on the six affinity elements. Could you point us in the right direction? This library is so enormous, it's hard to know where to start."

Hera looked over with a knowing smile. "Ah, you're looking for the affinity books. They're indeed special, and they're stored separately. But first, let me show you something."

Kazu's attention was suddenly drawn to a book on a nearby shelf. "Hmm, a book on teleportation magic circles?" he murmured as he picked up the book. The cover was adorned with intricate designs and glowing runes.

Hera's eyes twinkled as she noticed Kazu's interest. "Ah, I see you've found something intriguing. But let's not get sidetracked. Follow me, and I'll take you to the Affinity section. The books on the six affinity elements are each kept separately—one for each element."

Krisha turned to Kazu with a raised eyebrow. "So, we'll need to find six different books, one for each affinity element. By the way, what's the deal with the teleportation book?"

Kazu shrugged slightly, still holding the book. "I just thought it might be useful to learn more about teleportation. You know how much I enjoy reading and expanding my knowledge."

Krisha smiled, shaking her head. "You really do have a passion for reading. I remember you talking about wanting to write your own book about magic someday."

As they followed Hera through the maze of bookshelves, Hera continued to speak. "You can borrow and take these books home, but there's one condition."

Krisha's curiosity was piqued. "What's the condition?"

Kazu looked at Hera, his interest clearly piqued. "Really? What do we need to do?"

Hera's eyes sparkled with recognition. "I understand you were involved in the battle against Mizawa, the right hand of the Demon Lord, am I right?"

Kazu nodded. "Yes, that's correct."

Hera's smile widened. "That's all you need. Just inform your professors that you've been involved in significant events, and they'll understand why you're requesting these books."

Kazu's eyes widened slightly with surprise. "Is it really that simple?"

Hera nodded reassuringly. "Yes, it's that simple. And here we are—the Affinity section. These are the books you were looking for."

With a graceful wave of her hand, Hera used her Telekinesis power to lift the six books from the shelves. They floated effortlessly through the air before gently landing in Kazu's arms. Kazu watched in amazement as the books moved with such ease.

"Wow," Kazu said in a hushed voice. "You can use Telekinesis?"

Hera smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "Yes, it's a part of Light magic affinity. I learned it from one of the Light affinity books."

Kazu's excitement grew even more. "That's incredible. I'd love to learn more about that someday."

Hera nodded. "Perhaps you will. For now, focus on the books you have. They will provide valuable insights into the six affinity elements."

With the six affinity books securely in his arms, Kazu and Krisha made their way back through the vast library. The sunlight streaming through the large windows bathed the library in a warm, golden glow. The serene atmosphere of the library made the journey back to the entrance feel almost magical.

As they finally reached the grand doors of the library, Kazu turned to Krisha with a satisfied smile. "Thanks for coming with me today. I'm really excited to dive into these books."

Krisha returned his smile. "Anytime. I'm sure you'll learn a lot from them. See you around, Kazu."

"See you," Kazu replied, waving as he headed towards his dorm. The books in his arms felt like a treasure trove of knowledge, and he couldn't wait to start exploring their contents. Once inside his room, he carefully placed the books on his desk, the evening light casting a warm glow over the titles. Kazu sat down, ready to immerse himself in the wealth of information that lay before him, eager to learn and grow from the knowledge contained within each volume.
