Chapter 4 - Fire Spirit Flare

As dawn's first light filtered through the windows, Kazu tiptoed around the house, careful not to disturb Rosalia. The early morning was quiet, the world still waking up, and it felt like the perfect time to experiment. Rosalia is still asleep. Maybe I should try focusing my mana into my fingers on my own first, he thought, a mix of curiosity and nervousness bubbling within him.

He recalled Rosalia's instructions from the day before. She said to concentrate my mana into my fingers to create fire. But I don't know what spell that is... I'll just start by focusing. Kazu had always been a quick learner, but this was new territory, and he wasn't sure if he was ready. Still, he was determined to prove himself.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and concentrated. Okay, here goes... focus... focus... Fire. The room seemed to still as he gathered his energy, and his eyes widened in amazement as a small flame flickered to life at his fingertips. Waaaah! It worked! I did it!! He could hardly believe it—he had created fire on his own.

However, his excitement quickly turned to panic when he noticed the flame spreading uncontrollably across his hand. B-but why is it in my hand?! ROSALIA!!! WAAAAHHHH!!! My hand is on fire!! Help meee!!! His heart raced as he waved his hand frantically, trying to extinguish the flames.

Rosalia was jolted awake by Kazu's frantic cries. She rushed downstairs, her face pale with alarm. Oh, good morning, Kazu. You're up early... Calm down. Let the mana in your hand dissipate slowly... It will fade away eventually. Just focus on your hand. Her voice was calm, but concern was evident in her eyes.

Kazu panted heavily, struggling to regain control of the situation. Huff... huff... haahhhhhh... focus... His hand trembled, but he followed Rosalia's instructions, willing the flames to die down. Slowly, the fire began to fade, leaving only a slight warmth in his palm.

Rosalia offered him a reassuring smile. That's it, just like that. You did great learning on your own! Now that you've managed to focus, let's try making a fire attack. Ready?

Kazu nodded eagerly, the fear from moments before already fading into determination. Okay, Rosalia!

Rosalia led him to a spacious outdoor area, the morning sun casting long shadows across the ground. First, focus and create fire in your hand. Imagine compressing the mana until you form a solid fireball, just like I showed you. While saying 'Fire Pierce,' push it away in the direction you want to hit, like this: FIRE PIERCE! Her movements were fluid, practiced, and as she demonstrated, a fireball shot from her hand, piercing the air with blazing intensity.

Kazu watched in awe, his eyes wide with admiration. WOOAH! That's amazing, Rosalia! I'll give it a try... huff hoo... focus... mana... imagine a ball... There it is!!! It's catching fire! compress... FIRE PIERCE!!! He thrust his hand forward, and to his astonishment, a fireball shot out, albeit smaller than Rosalia's, but powerful nonetheless.

Rosalia observed with a mix of pride and surprise. Wow! He picked that up so quickly... It took me weeks to master that, and he learned it in just one try? My protégé is exceptional! Come on, we need a larger space for the next lessons. I know a wide area where we can practice further.

Kazu surveyed the expansive training ground they arrived at, his awe only growing. Wow, Rosalia, this place is huge... but do we really need such a big area?

Rosalia nodded firmly, her expression serious. Yes, Kazu, we do. The techniques I'll teach you next are quite advanced, and they require a lot of space to practice safely.

Kazu felt a mix of excitement and nerves as he looked around. I'm nervous... but I'm here to fulfill my dream... to become the strongest person in the world... so I'll do it. Okay, Rosalia, I'm ready!

Rosalia smiled warmly, placing a hand on his shoulder. Great! You seem ready. Here's one of the most powerful spells I know as a Fire Wizard... Her eyes gleamed with a mixture of pride and caution as she prepared to demonstrate a spell that few could master.

Kazu looked intrigued, a sense of anticipation building. Fire Wizard?

Rosalia nodded, her expression turning serious. Watch closely. This spell consumes 90% of my mana. I might even perish from casting it, but... She took a deep breath, her stance firm as she gathered her strength. I'LL SHOW YOU THE POWER I ONCE HELD! Oh mighty God, grant me the power of fire who possesses the almighty flame! FIRE SPIRIT FLARE!!!

Kazu watched in awe as a tremendous burst of fire erupted from Rosalia. The heat was intense, the air around them shimmering with energy. The power of the spell Rosalia is casting... Wait... It looks like she's exhausting her strength with this spell. Rosalia! Are you okay?!

Rosalia gritted her teeth, struggling to remain upright as the spell drained her energy. Kazu, COME TO ME!! You're safe beside me! Her voice was strained, but there was a fierce determination in her eyes.

Kazu rushed to her side, his heart pounding. I'm here, Rosalia!

Rosalia gasped, her energy fading rapidly. Yes, Kazu, I wanted you to see the power of this spell. HERE IT COMES! WAHHHHHHH!!! The ground beneath them trembled as the fire's intensity grew, the flames reaching higher into the sky.

Kazu stared in shock, the heat almost unbearable. IT'S SO POWERFUL! THE ENTIRE AREA IS GOING TO BURN UP...

The flames began to subside, leaving a scorched earth in their wake. Kazu turned to Rosalia, his face etched with concern. Rosalia... are you okay?

Rosalia struggled to speak, her voice weak. Ugh... my head... it hurts so much... I'm alright, dear...

Kazu looked worried, his mind racing with what he had just witnessed. You lost consciousness after casting that spell...

Rosalia managed a faint smile, her strength slowly returning. I'm really fine, Kazu. Did you see that spell? I want you to be able to do that too. You can do it! Always remember, you might perish from this spell if you're not careful. It has its own barrier, allowing you to protect anyone around you while casting it. Okay?

Kazu nodded solemnly, the weight of her words sinking in. O-okay, Rosalia... I'll try.

Rosalia encouraged him with a gentle smile, her pride in him evident. That's my protégé! Now, go ahead and give it a shot!

Kazu took a deep breath, steeling himself as he began the incantation. Oh mighty God, grant me the power of fire who possesses the almighty flame! FIRE SPIRIT FLARE!!! He waited, his heart pounding, but nothing happened. R-Rosalia... nothing's coming out...

Rosalia frowned in thought, her mind racing. Maybe the incantation is wrong, dear... Wait... Given his Job Class is God... maybe he can't ask for a spell from a god since he himself is a god... Change the incantation. Imagine yourself as a god. Use the incantation I write in the dirt, okay?

Kazu nodded, determination in his eyes. O-okay, Rosalia. He watched closely as she knelt down, writing a new incantation in the dirt with a stick.

Rosalia wrote the new incantation on the ground, her hand steady. I, the mighty God who possesses the almighty flame, feel the presence of my fire spirit! FIRE SPIRIT FLARE!

Rosalia watched anxiously, her heart pounding as Kazu prepared to cast the spell again. If I'm not mistaken, a spell directly from a god is a hundred times stronger than a normal spell... I hope it doesn't destroy the entire country... Okay, Kazu... Memorize what I've written, and once you've got it, recite it while performing the spell. Got it?

Kazu took a deep breath, his mind focused on the task at hand. Okay, Rosalia, I'll do it! As he closed his eyes, the sky darkened ominously, the air around them growing heavy with energy.

Rosalia watched in horror as the fireball grew exponentially, far beyond what she had expected. The fire flare he's creating is enormous! He could destroy the whole country. I need to stop him! Kazu! Stop! Don't continue, please!

Kazu was lost in concentration, his mind solely on the spell, unaware of the impending danger. FIRE SPIRIT FLA...

The light around them flickered as the power of the spell continued to build, the air crackling with energy.
