Chapter 29 - Shadow creature.

Kaylessa's teams were promptly deployed to protect the area, yet she remained puzzled as to why she was still in the wagon instead of being on the battlefield. Despite her uncertainty, a feeling deep within her warned of potential remorse if she were to depart at this moment.

She glanced in every direction, including the sky, yet the lingering sensation persisted despite her efforts. At that instant, she observed the ghouls making their way up the ruined houses, utilizing their strong claws to climb.

After reaching the top, the squads she had recently dispatched promptly hindered their progress, forcing them back down.

Kay noticed that the warriors on the rooftops were having some difficulties, but she still didn't feel like they were in immediate danger. However, the sense of anxiety building up inside her was causing her more unease as time went on.

She found it increasingly challenging to hide the growing surge of emotions inside her, as beads of sweat glistened on her forehead and she tightly clasped her spear, as though poised to attack at any instant.

Lau was relentless in her use of skill on the battlefield, savoring each moment that blood spilled from her enemies. The sight of their silver blood was a delight to her eyes, and anyone observing her closely would notice her sensually licking her lips with her tongue.

However, in the midst of war, no one was foolish enough to pause and admire beauty, knowing it could mean their demise. Apart from the nightmares surrounding them, they could at least take in the sight of the young girl before their potential demise.

Ayaka was occupied defending her rooftop with a barrier while also preventing ghouls from reaching other rooftops. She used her arrows to knock down the ghouls attempting to climb, either inflicting significant harm or completely dispersing their ether.

As Ayaka focused on her task, she suddenly found herself under attack from a mysterious dark figure who moved swiftly and effortlessly through her defenses. Ayaka tried to defend herself, but the enemy's large sword was already dangerously close to her face.

Suddenly, a deafening noise reverberated as the shadowy figure was forcefully pushed back from Ay. Following that, a white figure swiftly moved towards it. Ay was completely bewildered by the situation and was unable to contemplate much as the ghouls were rapidly closing in on her.

The mysterious silhouette tumbled to the ground after being struck, but swiftly rose to its feet and identified its opponent as one of the lower beings covered in lighting and with flowing white hair.

Kaylessa's sense of unease subsided when she came face-to-face with the mysterious creature. The being, completely devoid of any facial features, stood before her in a pitch-black humanoid form, emanating sinister energy and clutching a sword shrouded in darkness.

Lvl 8[---] [Shadow????] [Hp:1,800/1,800] [ET:3,450/4,000]

Kaylesa was taken aback when her powers failed to reveal all the information about the mysterious creature; however, as soon as she lost focus, the creature launched a direct attack. Kay swiftly defended herself with her spear and unleashed a powerful [Thunderbolt 9/11] with a kick, causing the creature to soar through the air and collide with a dilapidated building [ET: 2,900/4,000].

The longer the nightmare stayed alive, Kaylessa's anger grew bigger. The bluish thunder surrounding her had started to darken, blending with a bright crimson as her purplish eye also merged with the same color.

The nightmare emerged from the building and once more lunged at Kay. Kay's spear clashed with its sword again, but this time the creature pulled back instead of pressing forward, carefully observing Kay's actions.

Kay's anger only intensified as she decided to confront the creature directly. Despite her best efforts to strike it, the creature continued to evade her attacks and retaliate with precision, resulting in a devastating blow to Kay's ribs [ET:780/810]

The impact wasn't severe, but it propelled Kay towards the wall of a house. As she attempted to get up, a sword came hurtling towards her, forcing her to dodge by rolling to the left. The creature's sword hit the wall, prompting Kay to unleash three [Thunderbolt 6/11] simultaneously, with only two hitting the creature [ET: 1,800/4,000]

The monster was struck by 2 thunderbolts but managed to deflect the final one using its sword. It realized that its opponent's mediocre skills were compensated by their quickness, prompting it to be more vigilant.

Before long, Kaylessa managed to rise to her feet, aiming the end of her spear towards the creature once more, bracing herself for any eventuality. As she observed, it dawned on her that this was no ordinary adversary—it possessed intellect, not just blind aggression! How could this be?

Returning to the battlefield, the hoplites were an impressive sight, standing out from the rest with their strong defense and offensive tactics. Their confident approach boosted their morale, allowing them to engage in combat without fear and without the need to hide behind their shields.

The approach was uncomplicated but successful; after being assaulted by the ghouls and repelling them with their defensive abilities, they advanced quickly and attacked with their spears before retreating to their original spots and repeating the process.

Simultaneously, the archers and mages were swiftly decreasing the number of ghouls, nearly annihilating each one of them.

The confrontation between Kay and the shadow being came to a halt as they clashed their weapons repeatedly, creating mesmerizing bursts of light that would have been beautiful if not for the crimson lighting enveloping Kay's figure.

Every time Kay grows angrier, the crimson lights become stronger, causing her attacks to become wilder and more ferocious. The creature began to feel fear, possibly for the first time, as the crimson lights intensified. It was perplexed by the source of its fear, wondering what could be causing the crimson lights to have such a powerful effect.

The creature was finding it increasingly challenging to defend itself against Kay's relentless assaults; it was now purely on the defensive and began considering fleeing, although it questioned why it should, as it was battling a lesser being and was unlikely to be defeated.
