Nia leaned back against the bar, letting out a contented sigh. The weight of the last two months was slowly easing off her shoulders, thanks to the dimly lit, pulsing atmosphere of the club and the drink in her hand. The bartender, a tall guy with a mischievous grin, had been trying to catch her attention all night. Now, with a bold wink, he slid her a fresh cocktail across the counter.
Jess noticed and nudged her playfully. "He's laying it on thick."
Nia smirked, taking a sip of her drink. "Let him. It's harmless fun."
"Harmless?" Jess wiggled her eyebrows. "Girl, if I weren't here, you'd have the whole bar lining up."
Nia rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. "Please, Jess. I'm not in the mood."
Jess shook her head, still amused. "Well, when you are, the guy with the vodka tonics has your number. Or at least, he wishes he did."
