"It is killing me, Zi. She will never forgive me once she knows the actual truth." Zack said, his voice thick with regret. "But seeing her again... I realized that it wasn't just about her needing me. I needed her. And now... now I feel like it's too late."
Rizi's voice softened, filled with empathy. "It's never too late, Zack. It was not your fault at all. She deserves to know the truth. But you have to be willing to face what's been haunting you, and that starts with her. I don't know what happened between the two of you years ago... it's still hanging between you two, isn't it?"
Zack's chest tightened again at the memory, the weight of his guilt and his mistakes pressing down on him. "Yeah," he muttered, "it is."
Zack rubbed his temples, the dull ache of memories pounding at the back of his mind.
He hadn't talked about that night, not to anyone.
