Chereads / The Wizards Indignation / Chapter 52 - No longer a risk

Chapter 52 - No longer a risk

The second class for the first week had planned to have them just start off with a workout routine. It all seemed too easy for Jarett, Enoe, and the twins. Lecter looked like he would collapse after going one lap around the class. Damien was going to collapse after five laps.

In their defense, the class was unnecessarily large and they had to complete a hundred laps in an hour. How that was possible, they had to figure that out.

The twins had decided they would skip the second class for the first week and let their clones be present for them with Jarett and Lecter keeping a close eye. They already had a routine they followed which they did every morning before everyone else would awaken in the morning. They snuck out before the sun would be out and did their own thing.

They decided to use the time for the first class to attend to other important matters. Alba included.

She had been more inclined to follow them after that happened between her and Hades. She spent most of her time with them while Enoe would always pop out of nowhere just to bug them. Then he stopped bothering them, saying he's preparing something.

They would attend the first class, skip the second and focus on themselves. Somewhere in between they'd make time for Alba. Raten was more inclined to get those chains off her. First she had to understand magic before they could do anything. A chore, but worth it if everything plays out well.

The first week passed rather smoothly. They thought to be a part of the second class for the start to see if there were any changes and their teacher, Sir Elvis.

A broad shouldered man with long strands of grey hair that was tied back in a half bun. Stood in front of the class. He was the tallest staff they had seen so far. He was half dressed as his upper half was left bare and a covered weapon that looked really large was placed behind him on a small desk.

He told everyone to pair up. They were going to spar today.

The twins immediately turned to Alba who was also in their class due to her student number.

"I'm really intrigued to see how you're going to do." Raten smiled at her. She just stood calmly. She wasn't going to move to pair up with anyone, whoever was left would be paired up with her.

"I call dibs on the big guy!" Enoe jumped in front of Jarett. "I have my eyes on you next." He pointed at one of the twins' roommates, the sixth one, Rodney.

Rodney moved back, giving him space. He accidentally bumped into Wallace who was busy picking his nails.

"How about it? You and me?" He asked.

"Sure, okay." Wallace answered without looking up from his fingers.

"It's me and you, new best friend!" Simon pulled Hades' arm.

"I told you to stay away from me." Hades pushed him away.

Simon slid back in. "Sure, but we can just pair up for today. Sound good?"

Hades didn't say anything and just looked away.

Everyone had picked their partners and only two were left.

"Seriously?" Cross looked around and then sighed. "Fine then. I guess it's you and me." He said to Alba.

The twins were bored for most of the class. They barely participated in anything. It wasn't just them, but Rodney and Wallace too. The four of them sat in one corner each doing their own thing. Anything but participate.

"He's still gauging the skills. Thought he'd start something more by now." Kiyan watched in boredom.

"I knew I should have skipped this class as well." Rodney mumbled.

Wallace kept picking his nails. He looked up at everyone and then resumed quietly.

Raten was watching Alba closely and of course she had no fighting skill, but her reflexes and speed was something to brag about.

"I know what to do with you now." He thought, watching her and Cross closely. The golden eyed boy was also getting his attention.

After three hours of the second class, the students were free to do whatever they pleased until the curfew time. Most of them were too sore to break any rules anyway.

The twins snuck out of school again. This time, just the two of them.

They entered what looked like an abandoned warehouse close to the woods. Lands most didn't even dare to dwell due to the numbers of beasts there.

Land the twins saw as gold due to the number of beasts there.

"All the work we put ourselves through.." Kiyan said as wind moved around the place moving every dust, dirt, hay, rodent, spider, anything that seemed like an obstacle out through a backdoor leaving the space somewhat clean. Light filled the room as small balls of light like fireflies left Raten's fingers.

"..it no longer is risky."

Raten handed a chalk over to his brother and they both got to work giving each other space, working in silence.

They started with drawing large circles around themselves. Another circle around it. In the centre of the circle a smaller one was drawn. Between the two circles they drew different symbols.

None of which looked alike. Not even the work of the twins looked the same. Their own style, their own communication. Their magic circles were drawn to their tastes.

Four lines connected the smaller circle to the other two. Lines parallel to them were drawn again followed by another set of symbols.

"Done." Raten dusted his fingers and turned to Kiyan who was already setting up beast cores around specific places in the circle. He had a total of six cores.

Raten did the same with his six cores.

Beast cores they had gotten from the hunt they just embarked on.

After setting up everything, they sat in the centre of the circle with their eyes closed, their legs crossed and both hands lay on their knees as their fingers made a six.

Ahav jelarese, mana focus, what their teacher, Professor Chadwick thought best to teach first, they already had great understanding of.

Mana focus had two aspects;

Ahav Ke daraza - my power I give, Ahav Ke lareza - your power I take.

"Mana focus controls the flow of mana around us. It gives and it takes. Those who have an understanding of this is able to manipulate magic as they wish and these people are able to reach mastery." Chadwick had said in class.

"Ahav Ke Lareza." The twins said and every symbol on the circle began to glow until they were surrounded in a soft blue glow.

Faint lines of colour began seeping out of the core and going to the centre of the circle where the twins sat. Slowly, they were absorbing the magic in the beast cores.
