Chapter 59 - Chapter 59:A Night of Shadows

Wang Jingfei grew increasingly impatient, feeling both amused and annoyed, but she controlled herself. Just then, her phone rang. She answered, "Chairman, I'm having coffee with a friend. What? A man or a woman?" She glanced at Liu Mei, who gave her a pleading look. Wang Jingfei smiled and said, "A man." Liu Mei nodded gratefully.

At the villa on Peninsula Bridge, Guo Xiaopeng leaned back on the sofa, mumbling "a man" as he hung up the phone and picked up a nearby newspaper.

A shadow silently approached the villa's back door and effortlessly unlocked it with a steel wire. The shadow moved swiftly inside the house.

Guo Xiaopeng, reading the paper, heard a faint alarm from the infrared security system. He grabbed a throwing knife and whispered into his phone, "This is OF. Emergency call 88889, 88887. Come to my house immediately." He then used a remote to turn off the lights and crept upstairs barefoot.

The shadow reached the living room, shining a military-grade flashlight. As the shadow moved to the center of the room, they seemed disoriented and held a gun, observing.

From the second-floor monitor, Guo Xiaopeng coldly watched the shadow's actions. As the shadow prepared to ascend the stairs, Guo Xiaopeng suddenly turned on all the lights with the remote.

The shadow froze, stunned by the bright lights.

Guo Xiaopeng clearly saw the shadow was Lin Xiaoqiang.

In the parking lot outside King Louis Café, everything was silent. A man in short sleeves skillfully approached a red Ferrari and slipped into the back seat.

After a while, Wang Jingfei and Liu Mei walked out of the café side by side. Liu Mei sincerely said to Wang Jingfei, "I promise to change my ways and work together with you sincerely."

Wang Jingfei replied, "I also promise to put the past behind us."

They continued talking as they approached the Ferrari. Liu Mei opened the front door and made a respectful gesture, "Please."

Wang Jingfei reluctantly got in.

Liu Mei calmly took the wheel, driving onto a side road off the main path, then onto a lower-grade road. "This way is quicker," she said calmly.

Wang Jingfei sensed something was wrong and quietly took out a pen-shaped laser gun from her pocket, holding it in her hand. Sure enough, moments later, Yang Chun sprang up from the back seat, sinisterly saying, "Good evening, ladies." Liu Mei turned back in fear, "Who are you? What do you want?"

"Don't look back. Keep driving," Yang Chun commanded, his voice menacing.

Wang Jingfei and Liu Mei dared not turn back or speak.

"Head to the dock!" Yang Chun ordered.

Wang Jingfei wore a faint, cold smile.

Under the bright lights, Lin Xiaoqiang had lost his mind. He tore off his mask, brandishing his gun and shouting, "Guo, come out if you dare!" His voice echoed in the silent house. No response.

Lin Xiaoqiang roared, "Bastard! I'm here for revenge. Come out!" Guo Xiaopeng's voice came through a low-frequency speaker, "Lin Xiaoqiang, revenge requires patience and wisdom. You have neither."

Lin Xiaoqiang fired several shots at the speaker.

Guo Xiaopeng's voice shifted direction, "I advise you to leave Haizhou." Lin Xiaoqiang, enraged, fired in the new direction and then at the chandelier. All the lights went out, plunging the house into darkness.

The oppressive silence was terrifying. Unable to bear it, Lin Xiaoqiang fled through a window.

The Ferrari screeched to a halt at the edge of the abandoned dock. Yang Chun, waving his gun, ordered Wang Jingfei and Liu Mei out. He then forced them to walk ahead. "Brother, this is inhuman," Liu Mei said, trembling.

"Shut up, or I'll kill you first!" Yang Chun snapped.

They stopped by a utility pole. "Turn around!" Yang Chun commanded. They turned to face him. Yang Chun shone his flashlight on their faces, "Let me see which one is prettier." Liu Mei, terrified, closed her eyes.

Yang Chun's flashlight lingered on Wang Jingfei's face, "I prefer you. Unlike her, who pisses herself at the sight of a man."

Liu Mei was furious, cursing internally, "Bastard! Adding lines to insult me in front of this woman? I'll deal with you later!" Yang Chun sensed Liu Mei's displeasure but continued his act, throwing a rope at Wang Jingfei's feet. "Tie her up!" he barked, shaking his gun.

Liu Mei pleaded, "Brother, I can give you money and a car, just let us go…"

"Shut your mouth! I want the car, the money, and your lives!" Yang Chun snarled.

Liu Mei complied, leaning against the pole.

Recognizing Yang Chun, Wang Jingfei found the situation amusing but knew she had to be serious with a gun pointed at her. She bent down, picked up the rope, and tied Liu Mei tightly. Liu Mei grimaced in pain but stayed silent.

Yang Chun approached Wang Jingfei, "Now it's your turn."

Wang Jingfei lowered her gaze, secretly drawing the laser gun.

Just then, a Mitsubishi jeep appeared, its headlights illuminating Yang Chun. He was momentarily blinded. Wang Jingfei seized the opportunity, kicking the gun from his hand. Yang Chun, realizing the danger, leaped into the sea.

Li Xinjian, who had just arrived, picked up Yang Chun's gun and ran to the shore. The dark sea churned, but Yang Chun was nowhere to be seen.

Wang Jingfei joined him, ready to dive in. Li Xinjian stopped her, "He can't hide forever."

Wang Jingfei reluctantly agreed.

Qiang Min untied Liu Mei, asking, "Ms. Liu, did you see who it was?"

Liu Mei, tearful, looked at Wang Jingfei, "I was too scared to see. Maybe Ms. Wang saw?"

Wang Jingfei said meaningfully, "If Ms. Liu was scared, how could I not be?"

Li Xinjian sternly told them, "I hope both of you will handle everything within the law."

Wang Jingfei remained silent.

Liu Mei nodded repeatedly.

Li Xinjian signaled to Qiang Min and left.

Lin Xiaoliang and Duan Hai, armed with shotguns and clubs, burst into the villa. Guo Xiaopeng emerged from the shadows. Lin Xiaoliang commanded his men, "Search thoroughly!"

Guo Xiaopeng sat calmly on the sofa, "No need. The intruder is gone."

Lin Xiaoliang, still uneasy, said, "What if he's hiding somewhere?"

Guo Xiaopeng gave him a cold look, "He's not."

Lin Xiaoliang, feeling guilty, asked, "Did you see who it was?"

Guo Xiaopeng didn't answer, his eyes half-closed.

Lin Xiaoliang lit his pipe, smoking nervously.

Guo Xiaopeng suddenly asked, "Have you had contact with your brother recently?"

Lin Xiaoliang forced a smile, "No."

Guo Xiaopeng's eyes remained closed, "Good."

Lin Xiaoliang said, "No contact, but be careful."

Guo Xiaopeng replied slowly, "If you provide any real information, I'd be grateful. Lin Xiaoqiang is your brother, after all. If you don't tell me, I understand."

Lin Xiaoliang's resolve crumbled, "Lin Xiaoqiang is in Haizhou. He asked me for some money."

Guo Xiaopeng waited for more.

"I advised him to leave. He said we'd see... and didn't say much else," Lin Xiaoliang mumbled.

"Did he ask about me?" Guo Xiaopeng asked.

Lin Xiaoliang shook his head.

Guo Xiaopeng looked around, "Go to Ms. Liu's place. Her safety is your responsibility. Duan Hai stays here, the rest can leave."
