Harry looked listlessly at the fire in the Hufflepuff fireplace... the first term of the year had passed so quickly that he had almost not noticed it, and the best thing of all was that for the first time, he had had time to do everything he had wanted to... The only bad thing about all that was that Christmas had arrived and for the first time since he arrived at Hogwarts, his friends had gone home leaving him completely alone... not that he cared much... no, just that he felt lonely and a little bored.

His days were spent doing his homework and looking for what he could do for fun, the bad thing was that before they left he had made a promise not to do any more research and he couldn't fly as a phoenix either because lately the Headmaster wouldn't let a white phoenix pass by... after all he had told his parents that he was going to become Brian's familiar and he should have already taken the first steps, like letting the boy see him. So, what he usually did most of all was spend his days in his personal library, or in the school library.

Mysteriously, and to the Hufflepuff's fury, Brian had decided that he too was going to stay at school that Christmas. They hadn't told him the reason, but there was no need. What his parents hadn't wanted to explain to him had been done by Remus... there was an important mission for the order and they didn't want Brian to be present, in case something bad happened to him. For now, nothing bad had happened, that is to say, Brian was staying in Gryffindor and he was in Hufflepuff, the friction was minimal.

During the entire holiday period, or rather, for several months, he had not received a single letter from his parents. In fact, he had not received anything from them since they had learned of his future apprenticeship with Professor Snape and his father had been demanding that he revoke it. That had not been a pleasant conversation, and in fact, they had said things to him that hurt him a lot... After that, he had not heard from them again.

[T/N, Pathetic little C*nts!]

That made him think about many things, or rather, he thought about what the relationship between his parents had become, and what he saw he didn't like. Over time his parents had shown a clear preference between the two brothers, Brian being their favorite... Why? Because someone had told them that they had made a prophecy about the defeat of the Dark Lord, and that it would be Brian who would do it...

Since always, the only memory he had was of his parents doing everything for Brian and leaving him alone without paying attention to him... or worse, when they only paid attention to him to tell him what a miserable son he was. They had called him everything, from useless to squib, blaming him for any of Brian's mischief. They had never supported him in anything and the only time they had acted like parents had been when his friends remembered something they hadn't been able to...

And now, this. Normally they should have supported him, encouraged him, but instead, they did the opposite. Could he really call them his parents? They had given him life, yes, but little else. Remus had been his only father figure and lately, Ginna had been his mother figure, they deserved more to be called dad and mom, not James and Lily...

It was strange, but after coming to that conclusion, he felt freer and more relaxed than he had ever felt before. He felt happy, and after that, he didn't care if Brian was there or not, he didn't care if Brian would once again tell him that his parents loved him more... he was free! Even so, he still felt somewhat inferior to his brother, but he supposed that with time that feeling of inferiority would disappear.

[T/N: Harry Potter Has given Dobby a sock!! Dobby is FFfffrreeeee!!!!!]

To his surprise, it happened quicker than he thought. It was just a couple of days after Christmas... he had gone to the library to look up some human transfiguration stuff, when he heard angry grumbling coming from a nearby room. Curious, he went over to see what was going on and was surprised to see Brian staring angrily at what looked like a piece of cloth, while exclaiming the Diffindo spell. Try as he might, he couldn't get it to work, and after a few minutes of observation, Harry knew why. He was missing a very slight twist of his wrist at the beginning of the spell.

"You're doing it wrong," he said before he could realize, causing Brian to jump slightly and turn quickly.

"And what do you know? " He asked angrily. "What are you doing here? Spying on me?"

"I was passing by and I heard you " He explained simply " Do you want me to help you or not? You can practice all you want but if you don't correct the mistake, you'll never succeed."

Harry could see that Brian had a small conflict of interest... on the one hand, he didn't want Harry's help, and on the other, his desire to improve... in the end he agreed. During the next few minutes, the eldest Potter taught what the other was doing wrong, and after a little practice, he got it right. That's when Harry noticed something... well, Brian hadn't done it wrong, he had cut the fabric and a couple of cushions, but he had blown them up himself when he learned that spell and didn't know how to control it... that was when he realized something important... He was much stronger than Brian, not the other way around.

That managed to give him something he hadn't had until then, it gave him confidence in himself and in his abilities, it made him realize that everything his parents had told him since he was very young was a lie and if he still had any reluctance to deny his parents, it vanished.

The rest of his vacation was going to be the same as before, boring, and although his new knowledge and new confidence made things different in some ways, it was still boring. It got to the point where he decided to practice the different divination methods that Ginna had taught him.

His mentor had taught him many different methods to be able to see the future at will, but while she favored the crystal ball, or the mirror, he favored water... she had always told him that each seer had a method that they favored or that suited them best, but that meant that he had to practice the others more and hardly touch the favored one. That was why when he could practice alone, he used water...

So he was in his special room, looking into his bowl of water which was what fate was expecting to deliver shortly, when he saw a small ripple forming in the water indicating the beginning of a vision... so he looked closely.

The bowl showed him Diagon Alley full of people shopping, people seemed completely unaware of the war going on around them... everything seemed peaceful, but it was cut short when a group of Death Eaters showed up in the Alley attacking everyone regardless of whether they were innocent civilians.

The boy saw how shortly after the Order of the Phoenix arrived and began to fight against the Death Eaters, they were evenly matched and it did not seem that either side was going to win... that fight could last for hours and there would be no clear winner... It was then that he saw in a half-hidden corner a scared girl, a scared girl who was hugging a little girl he knew, Athenea.

Frightened because no one seemed to notice them and a fight was taking place too close for his liking, he looked around, searching for a place where he could place himself in time and know when such and such a thing was going to happen... Finally, he found it on a small calendar right in front of the cauldron shop and he didn't like what he saw, it was happening at that very moment.

Putting the bowl aside, he debated for a few moments on what he should do, and finally, almost without realizing it, he transformed into a phoenix and in a burst of flames transported himself to the alley, right in the middle of the battle and very close to his friend.

It all happened extraordinarily fast, he transformed back into a human and began to fight the Death Eaters almost in one movement. If someone asked him later what he did, he wouldn't know very well what it was... the spells, transformations, curses, everything was valid to protect all those innocent people, whose only crime was being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. The fight lasted only a few moments, but for him, it was almost like hours, then, after making sure that all the Death Eaters were KO'd, he left before the Order caught him.

The people in the Alley looked at where the person who had saved the wizarding shopping street had been just moments before. The Aurors looked at the spot in disbelief, the members of the Order did the same, and the civilians looked at each other with a mixture of disbelief and joy. Of all those present, only one teenage girl knew who had rescued them, her own friend, Harry.

That night, an urgent meeting of the Order was held to discuss what had happened that afternoon in Diagon Alley, and all members had to be present.

"Let us begin. " Dumbledore said, looking at everyone present. " We all knew that there was going to be an attack during these holidays, Severus warned us although he did not know the details of the attack. Today Diagon Alley was attacked by a contingent of approximately twenty Death Eaters."

Loud murmurs arose, forcing the old Headmaster to pause for a long time in order to get any attention. When the murmurs had finally died down, Dumbledore spoke again.

"I am pleased to report that there were no fatalities and only a few minor injuries, nothing to worry about."

"How is that possible? "Alice Longbottom asked. "There is never an attack without casualties... Neither the Ministry nor the Order usually react quickly enough to prevent them. What has changed?"

"Well... " the old man began, and the woman noticed that there were several discontented faces. " I would like to be able to say that it is thanks to us, but that is not the case, nor was it thanks to the Ministry."

"So?" a witch at the end of the table asked.

"The truth is that we don't know. We don't know any details about the person who saved the Alley, since he was surrounded at all times by a bright white light that prevented us from knowing any details about his identity."

"That's not entirely true. " Said a red-haired man.

"What do you mean, Fabian? " the elderly Headmaster asked.

"If we know anything, the person who saved the Alley is an Animagus, and a unique one at that. " Fabian Prewitt said, ignoring the Headmaster's displeased look. " His form was that of a phoenix, a white phoenix."

That statement raised not only murmurs, but also cries and startled exclamations, as well as the obvious displeasure of the Potters. After all, the prophecy of the White Phoenix was already well known in the Order, as was the possible child of the prophecy. That now someone who could transform into a white phoenix and with extraordinary powers appeared, was rather suspicious.

"That doesn't mean anything. " The old man began.

"Of course it means something! " exclaimed a witch from the phone " It could mean that we were wrong to point to Brian Potter as the prophesied child."

"Brian was the only one who met the conditions specified by the prophecy and you know it! " Sirius Black exclaimed.

"Of newborn children, yes. "The same witch answered. "But who says that someone has just been born? What if she was referring to someone who had already been born? A child or even an adult?"

"You know as well as I do that a prophecy is usually about a future event," Dumbledore explained.

"But the opposite also happens, that they talk about a past event." Another magician replied. "It's rare, but it also happens."

After that, it was difficult for the Headmaster to get the conversation back to where he wanted it, but the damage had already been done, doubt had been sown within the Order and now it would be very difficult to eradicate it.

In fact, even Dumbledore himself looked slightly doubtful, after all, Brian had not yet shown any kind of ability... Had he been wrong twelve years ago?
