After establishing the Merlin Laboratory, Merlin spent most of his time working on various projects. Within a week, the purchasing department completed his equipment and material requests. After two weeks, Merlin successfully created the first three-nanometer lithography machine. With data gathered by Sol over time, he could now produce skill chips that encompassed skills like cooking, firearms handling, cold weapons expertise, driving, housekeeping, and even social skills. This achievement paved the way for creating the first generation of androids.

Merlin Center Laboratory
The Merlin Laboratory spans over 6,000 square meters and is divided into three main sections: the central laboratory, a storage warehouse, and a production workshop. Although the production workshop is not yet operational, the central lab has successfully created bionic models. Once fully established, the production workshop will include photolithography machines and assembly lines for mass-producing these androids.
Once the androids reach mass production, the offline platform's production base can be expanded, ensuring that goods remain in stock and that sufficient NPC bionic workers are available.
In the laboratory, Merlin sat under a desk lamp, wearing a magnifying lens and using tweezers to carefully assemble an android as though performing intricate surgery. The android had long, flowing blue hair, a gentle and cold face, and a slim physique. Merlin took a chip and gently inserted it into the android's neck.
Just then, a bell chimed. Merlin waited until he finished embedding the chip before glancing up.
Standing there was Ada King, an Asian woman with short black hair, wearing a red dress that hugged her hips, black stockings, and a confident look.
"Ada King, what's the matter?" Merlin asked, still working on perfecting his latest android model.
"The purchasing department has arrived with your materials," Ada replied, pointing toward the door.
Merlin's face lit up. "Perfect! Marvin! Chappie! Stop gaming and pick up the delivery!"
---
From down the hall, the sounds of a playful argument filled the lab, accompanied by the noises of squeaky toys and banter.
"Aw, c'mon! Marvin, you're really bad at nunchucks!" Chappie taunted.
"Call me bunny ears again, and I'll smash your camera!" Marvin shot back, toting a squeaky chicken toy.
Moments later, two robots appeared: one wearing a dark yellow trench coat and round hat like a detective, and the other sporting a chunky gold chain and tattoos, styled with a gangster vibe. They each held a squeaky toy chicken and playfully argued as they approached the door.
Ada rolled her eyes at their antics. "Stop goofing around! Go pick up the goods already—the production line is about to start!" Merlin interjected.
Chappie and Marvin ceased their banter, though they continued a silent "squeaky" argument with the rubber chickens as they walked away.
---
Merlin sighed, slightly regretting his choice of robot prototypes. Chappie was based on a police robot from Chappie, while Marvin's design was inspired by a robot from Apex Legends. Despite Marvin's official role as a construction and maintenance robot, Merlin had programmed both robots with combat, medical, and scientific knowledge. Although named Marvin, this one wasn't an ordinary worker; he had Pathfinder's advanced functions, making him suitable for both physical and security tasks.
Chappie and Marvin were responsible for maintaining security in the laboratory, while Ada King managed purchasing department communications. Merlin's new android, Thor, lay on the bench awaiting final modifications.
---
As Chappie and Marvin approached the entrance, the laboratory doors slowly opened, and Chappie called out, "Hey! Uncle's here!" The driver, Hall, a bearded man often responsible for deliveries, laughed.
"Chappie! I ought to take out your chip and check if it's fueled by alcohol!" Hall joked.
Marvin interjected, "His head's full of burnt engine oil. Did you bring my puppy?"
Hall grinned, pulling a small Bernese Mountain Dog puppy from the car. Marvin took the puppy, gently cradling it.
"Look at him! Such an angel!" Marvin cooed as Chappie eagerly tried to catch a glimpse.
"Stay back and get the forklift, Chappie. Time to unload," Marvin said, protecting his new puppy.
---
The rolling door of the warehouse opened, and Chappie and Marvin began unloading electronic components with a forklift. Soon, this would enable mass production of androids and Marvin-type worker robots.
Hall leaned against the car, smoking as he watched the lab, curious about the high-tech world inside. Though Merlin's arrival at Hammer Industries had been low-key, the company's armored robot project attracted substantial attention. However, Hall was more impressed by the lively, expressive robots here in the lab, finding them oddly more reliable than the armored units the company touted.
The lab's layout provided ample workspace, with a warehouse by the entrance, a large testing ground, and beyond it, the central lab and production plant. Each section was secured, and if anyone tried to breach it, the defense system would automatically activate, ensuring the lab remained protected.
