Chapter 83 - Chapter-80

Thor looked at the chaotic base under the dark rain-soaked skies, glancing at the Predators battling the aliens with their spears and plasma cannons. His eyes finally settled on Mjolnir—his beloved hammer. If he could just retrieve it, everything would be solved. Determined, he trudged through the muddy terrain toward the hammer. He had to go home!

Meanwhile, six vampire-alien hybrids were wreaking havoc across the base. One was locked in combat with the Predator, another with Hawkeye, and the remaining four roamed the base's corridors, slaughtering anyone in their path. The agents' guns were useless against these swift, near-immortal creatures, and many were left to face their doom—either being bitten or devoured.

Coulson's expression darkened as he observed the aliens. Suddenly, he had a thought and rushed to the laboratory, recalling the gruesome scene when the aliens had burst from their vampire hosts' chests. When these monsters were first born, they resembled snake-like maggots, but their development was rapid. They drained the blood from their vampire hosts, and within five minutes, their bodies grew dramatically. The aliens transformed into dark, velociraptor-like creatures covered in spiky bones, as large as Doberman Pinschers. They easily shattered the glass containment units, slaughtering all the scientists and guards who tried to intervene.

Sitwell, watching the chaos unfold on a screen, adjusted his glasses, his expression unreadable. "By the way, where is Merlin? He might know more about these creatures than we do," Coulson suddenly realized.

"He's still over there with the hammer! Are these creatures connected to him?" Sitwell frowned.

"That's why he's here. I'll find him, and you take command from here," Coulson said as he drew his gun and rushed back.

Thor had reached Mjolnir by this time, his body drenched. He gazed at the hammer sitting quietly on the stone platform, excitement surging through him—finally, he could go home. The test his father had set for him no longer mattered. With the hammer, he would still be Asgard's God of Thunder.

"Huh..." Ignoring the chaos around him, Thor gripped the hammer's handle confidently.

"Um?" A feeling of dread crept over him when the hammer didn't budge. He placed his other hand on it, unwilling to give up.

"Ahhhh!!!" Thor roared in frustration, his muscles straining as veins popped on his forehead.

"Ah!!!" But no matter how hard he tried, the hammer remained unmoved—completely unresponsive to his efforts.

Bang!

Suddenly, a heavy thud echoed behind him, and a dark shadow loomed over Thor's despairing figure. A massive alien, its mouth dripping with blood, had crept up on him.

"Move! Please! Mjolnir! Move!!!" Thor pleaded desperately with the hammer, staring at it with wide, anxious eyes.

Pfft!

Thor caught a whiff of the alien's foul breath behind him and instinctively shifted to the side. However, a sharp pain tore through his shoulder as the alien's fangs sank deep into his flesh, draining his blood rapidly.

Gritting his teeth, Thor grabbed the alien's jaws with both hands and forced them apart.

Crack!

The alien's teeth broke with a sickening snap, but green, corrosive blood sprayed out, instantly scorching Thor's arm black.

"Ahhhh!!!" Thor screamed in agony as the blood loss and searing pain overwhelmed him, leaving him weak and on the verge of unconsciousness.

"Thor!" Jane Foster, who had snuck into the base, saw the horrific scene and rushed toward him in panic.

"Whoops!" At that moment, a flash of white light streaked through the air, and the vampire-alien hybrid was thrown backward. A large sword had pierced through its abdomen, pinning it firmly to the muddy ground.

"Roar!!!" The impaled alien struggled violently, letting out pained roars.

"This is getting interesting..." Merlin, clad in his battle armor, landed on the hilt of the sword. He glanced at Thor, who was drenched in sweat, his face pale, his shoulder drenched in blood, and weakly half-kneeling on the ground. Jane stood nearby, looking lost and unsure of what to do.

"I didn't really have a backup plan for this," Merlin muttered. He raised his hand and fired a palm cannon at the alien, whose head exploded on the spot. Green blood splattered everywhere, and the surrounding area began to sizzle and smoke from the corrosive fluid.

Merlin recalled his mechanical sword, examining the green blood dripping from its blade. "Thankfully, this sword was built by [ ], otherwise it would be completely unusable now."

"Merlin!" Coulson arrived, panting heavily. His eyes widened when he saw the injured Thor, but he quickly shifted focus to the more immediate problem. "How are we supposed to deal with these monsters?"

"That depends on who the hosts of these aliens are," Merlin said, swinging his sword. The heat from the blade instantly evaporated the corrosive blood and rainwater.

"Vampires..." Coulson thought of the six vampire corpses and the mission description he had read earlier. His eyes lit up. He quickly shouted into his headset, "Everyone, look for UV disinfection equipment and silver items! These aliens inherit traits from their hosts, and if their hosts are vampires, they'll be vulnerable to sunlight, ultraviolet light, and silver!"

As the base was equipped with disinfection tools, ultraviolet equipment was quickly found by Sitwell. The panicked agents gathered around the UV gear, preparing to fend off the creatures. These vampire-alien hybrids were not only fast and agile but had the ability to regenerate quickly as long as they had access to flesh and blood. And in the cramped base, there was plenty of that.

Coulson's guess was right. Once exposed to ultraviolet rays, the vampire-aliens burned as if they had been dropped into hot oil. However, despite the success, only one alien was killed, while the others, realizing the danger, escaped into the cover of the night.

"Sir, someone's been infected with the vampire virus!" an agent reported urgently.
