Maris laughed, "I hope there aren't any more of those," and Lucan jokingly said, "They are every 100 metres or so."
"I don't want to go over any more," Maris said.
So, noticing a nice level piece of grassed area Lucan suggested they sit down for a while rather then continue the journey over more hurdles.
As Maris sat down Lucan caught a glimpse of stocking top at the back of both legs as she assumed a comfortable position, and he sat beside her, touching the shoulder to shoulder.
"This is good isn't it? Relaxing in the sun by a peaceful riverside gloating on our winnings."
"It's nice to have a winner." Maris said.
"Being with you is a winning life for me," Lucan replied as he slid his left arm around her bare shoulders.
"Well. Same," Maris smiled.
Holding her tighter Lucan looked her in the eyes and said, "It's really good, and I love it."
