After hearing what Ethan said, Anastasia remarked cautiously, "No, what if you go alone and encounter danger too? I don't need both of you to be in danger."
Ethan smiled. "Do not worry. I will be alright. I will bring your father home safely. Trust me on this."
Ethan was immensely confident, and Anastasia felt much more relieved when she considered his undiscovered power. She clenched her teeth and murmured worriedly, "You still have to be careful. You have to go home safe, too."
"Okay, don't worry." Ethan felt good that Anastasia wanted her to go back safely, too. His heart warmed. Ethan nodded, then turned to leave.
Anastasia watched his tall figure fade away beneath the steps with unexplained feeling.
At some point, she felt safe with Ethan, as he was the first person she thought of when she was in danger. She could depend on Ethan. He always assured her, Sophia, and the rest of the family of their safety.
She was terrified after learning that her father had suddenly found himself in such a frightening circumstance. But Ethan's comments eased her mind. All of her fear and anxiety evaporated after hearing him console and reassure her. As long as Ethan was present, someone would be with her to cope with any concerns and straighten up everything.
"Mom, where has dad gone? Has something happened to Grandpa?" Sophia looked up.
Anastasia brushed away tears and held her daughter. "It's okay, Sophia. Do not worry. "Daddy is a hero and will undoubtedly bring Grandpa home. He will be safe. Both of them."
"Yeah! "Daddy is truly a hero!" Sophia hugged Anastasia, and her gorgeous eyes were filled with pride and belief in Ethan. She believed so much to his dad. He trusts his father more than anything.
Soon, a black Jaguar drove through the city traffic and stopped at the Grand8's door. Ethan darkened his aura.
On the surface, the Grand8 appeared to be an ordinary entertainment venue. However, Ethan was already aware that this was only a covering.
He didn't bother wasting time. After entering the lobby, he told a waiter, "I'm here to get someone. Please go to inform them."
The waiter was no stranger to this procedure. He questioned, "Who are you paying ransom for?" "Charles Reed," Ethan answered. His expression remained unchanged.
After transmitting the instructions over the intercom, the waiter replied to Ethan, "Okay, Sir. "Please come with me."
The waiter led Ethan to an odd and discreet entrance. If there were no ushers, anvone would have a tough time discovering it, as the walls and décor were filled with hidden devices.
The waiter hit the elevator button to reach the fifth basement. Before long, the elevator door opened, revealing a golden door in front of Ethan.
When he pushed open the door, he observed a noisy and raucous scene inside the large hall. Many people surrounded numerous poker tables, and their eyes were completely bloodshot. Most of them looked like they were not going home for days as they played along in this place.
Ethan had long suspected that Charles had been lured into a gambling den by someone, resulting in such a significant debt in such a short period. He needs to know who.
Everything that happened before him only confirmed Ethan's guess.
The waiter directed Ethan to the poker table in the innermost area.
People gathered around the poker table, and someone was kneeling on the ground with a bruised nose, refusing to budge an inch. He was none other than Charles Reed! His aura visibly darkened when he saw his father-in-law in this state.
Ethan's gaze became icy-cold as he stepped closer to help Charles up.
"Who is this kid?" Bruno Attal, the club manager, frowned disapprovingly as he looked at Ethan.
The big guys had aggressive expressions in their eyes, and at a single instruction from Attal, they would surge forward to take down Ethan. They are just waiting for his command.
The waiter who had brought Ethan in quickly bent down and stated, "Mr. Attal, he came to pay Charles Reed's ransom."
Attal sized Ethan up. When he saw his serene smile and his not-so-muscular frame, he couldn't help but smirk. "Kid, you're pretty bold to come here and pay Charles Reed's debt."
When Luisa saw Ethan, she rolled her eyes and exclaimed, "This good-for-nothing is unexpectedly present. It appears that Anastasia will not come. She sent her loser husband instead."
Ferry's demeanor was sad as he stared at Luisa. "Is this what you promised me?"
Luisa was upset. "Ferry, do not blame me for this. I didn't expect the club to suddenly force Charles Reed to reimburse the money today, thwarting our intentions. We might have a chance if the club did not ask for the debts."
Ferry snorted harshly and stayed mute. He would never have imagined such a vital situation to arise, let alone Luisa.
When Charles noticed Ethan, he grabbed his hand as if he had discovered a straw to hold onto. "You've finally arrived! Ethan, you brought the money, correct? Hurry and pay them! "Or else they'll cut off my hands and feet! Please help me."
He was terrified, fearing Anastasia would not be able to persuade Claudia to give her the money. He was also frightened that the people in the clubhouse might become impatient and sever his hands. His last straw of hope has arrived.
They had beaten him up and forced him to kneel on the ground, so he complied without daring to breathe.
Now, Ethan has appeared!
Attal, who appeared to be pretty respectable and courteous, did not attempt to say anything ridiculous. He crossed one leg over the other and replied slowly, "The total amount you must pay is $830,000." After you pay, you can take him away. Otherwise, you two will have to remain here. Don't blame us for being harsh after you lose your hands and feet."
Ethan took a glance at Daniel. "I've already prepared the money. However, your people beat my father-in-law and forced him to kneel here for so long. Shouldn't you also give me an explanation?"
When Ethan spoke, the people surrounding him paused briefly before laughing.
Looking at Ethan as if he had just heard a joke, Attal remarked mockingly, "Explanation?" What would you like me to explain? That your father-in-law has debts? Come on, let's hear about your family history and determine if you qualify to ask for an explanation!"
Luisa busted up laughing. "Mr. Attal, don't be duped by this shady character. He's simply a penniless orphan. What kind of family background could he have?" Luisa thwarted facts.
Before Luisa could finish laughing, she felt a piercingly cold and scary gaze fall on her. She shuddered, stopped laughing, and secretly hid behind Ferry.
How can this loser Ethan have such a frightening expression?! What a scumbag loser.
