"Who knows?" I contacted the HR department, and they all stated that higher-ups had instructed them to keep the message private. They merely stated we'd know in the afternoon."
"So, it's pretty confidential."
"Yeah, the HR Department has no idea as well who will be the new General Manager"
Susan was also on the gossiping team.
She had just learned today that she would be promoted to Director and that the newly appointed General Manager would arrive shortly. As a result, she had to do her best to make a good impression on the new General Manager and gain his trust. It would be ideal if the new General Manager were a gorgeous young bachelor! If this happened, she would climb to the upper echelons!
Susan hoped that with her skills and beauty, she could marry the General Manager if she could win his approval!
That would be far more powerful than her position as Director of the business department!
Susan imagined how much power she would have after marrying the General Manager of Spark Enterprises and how everyone would have to submit to her. If she was skilled at convincing him, she could take over Spark Enterprises!
By that point, Anastasia Reed would be nothing! She will trample her again and again until Anastasia will go down the drain and resigned to this company.
Susan was pleased, and when she turned around to face Anastasia, who was typing on her computer in the corner, she felt an overwhelming sensation of superiority. So what if you were the previous owner of Spark Enterprises? Soon, it will be mine! I will removed you from that desk after!
As she considered this, an arrogant grin emerged on her face, and she strode smugly, heels high, toward Anastasia's desk. She raised her hand and unplugged the wire connecting Anastasia's PC.
Anastasia had recently finished some project ideas and personnel transfer files and uploaded them to her cloud storage. She hadn't completed any spreadsheets, but the computer screen abruptly went blank. What's happening?
She looked up and saw Susan standing before her, arrogant and condescending, clutching the power plug. A few ill-intentioned employees out to enjoy a good performance encircled them. They expected something to happen with this show of superiority from Susan.
"What are you doing?" Anastasia scowled and looked at Susan, who had intentionally unplugged the power cord.
"Watch your tone with Ms. Clide!" Before Susan could say anything, a figure with thick makeup intervened, determined to teach Anastasia a lesson and become closer to Susan since she will be the future Director.
Anastasia didn't even pay attention to such a person; instead, she stared at Susan to see what tricks she was playing.
"Tsk, I have no idea what you are pretending to be busy for. The new General Manager will be here shortly. Did you know? Susan Clide spoke leisurely after losing the power cord.
"And?" Anastasia asked, reclining back in her chair.
Susan was enraged by Anastasia's lack of concern and nonchalance. Why does this woman always act so arrogant and powerful? She cannot comprehend her attitude!
Susan decided she wanted to wait to fire Anastasia. She tried to keep her around so she could watch her marry the General Manager and take over Spark Enterprises! Her plan is flawless!
"What are you pretending for?" Who is unaware that you were previously the chairperson of Spark Enterprises until being ousted by the Reeds? You were then assigned a powerless subordinate post and competed with Brendan Reed for the General Manager position. Unfortunately, that older man would rather have Brendan than you as General Manager. Despite your plea, the older man still chose Brendan Reed. And now, I wonder what your tactics are that you are still here in the company and not ousted.
"You must be disappointed, right? Someone else will take the post of General Manager. Is that making you sadder? Did your expectations abruptly fell?" Susan Clide stated with a smirk, intending to offend Anastasia.
"Oh, poor you! You were once the powerful board chairperson, but now you can only huddle in a corner of this office. You must be afraid, right? Or you must be longing to go home and see for your loafer husband."
"Hahaha! Certain people's lives improve as they ascend, but others' lives deteriorate over time. "This is life!"
"I advise certain people to recognize their abilities sooner and know where they stand, lest they keep dreaming!"
"Exactly! Her family drove her out, and she eventually married a loser. She's also trapped with her burdensome daughter, so she'll never return!"
"I can't wait to see her face when the new General Manager comes in."
_ _
Anastasia glanced at the horrible faces around her coldly and without feeling. She definitely knew their name one by one.
Soon, these scumbags who only wanted to suck up to prominent people will be forced out of Spark Enterprises. Her company doesn't need this kind of employee.
Around three p.m., a blue Mercedes-Benz commercial car approached the Spark Enterprises office entrance, and an elegant middle-aged guy stepped out of the backseat. He was Gabriel Robson, Gideon Boysen's secretary, who frequently accompanied him to all his affairs.
Spark Enterprises' deputy General Manager Martin Fuest had long stood at the door. He walked straight for the car. "Mr. Robson, you're here."
"Hello, Mr. Fuest." Robson extended his hand to shake Fuest's hand.
After exchanging pleasantries, Robson inquired, "Have they been notified?"
"Yes, everyone was contacted in the morning. We are only waiting for you to make the announcement. Please." Extending his hand to enter in the conference room.
He was presumably informed of the plans in the morning because he was the interim deputy General Manager. However, he did not dare to educate others. He knows his place, but he is too scared to act recklessly. After all, he is just an employee.
Who could have predicted that the person who would become the General Manager of Spark Enterprises would be that individual?
As Robson arrived, all the Spark Enterprises employees dropped their work and dashed to the enormous conference room on the third floor, which could seat over a thousand people.
Since receiving the notice this morning, the administrative department has already set up the huge meeting room. All management staff had been assigned seats in the conference room's front row based on their position and rank. The other staff sat at the back, according to their departments.
Susan pondered briefly before taking a seat in the front row. It won't take too long before she assumes the position of Director, so she would rather practice it already.
Her official appointment letter had yet to arrive, so she was technically a deputy manager and, hence, ineligible to sit in the front row.
However, she reasoned that since her promotion was already sure, a minute sooner or later would make no difference.
Furthermore, Susan believed that sitting in the first row would allow her to make a good impression on the incoming General Manager and impress him with her beautiful looks. She is confident that the new General Manager will look into her if she is in the front row.
When Susan Clide sat in the front row of seats allocated for upper-level executives, several other directors scowled in confusion. However, they didn't say anything.
There were already two persons on the podium in front.
One was Martin Fuest, Spark Enterprises' interim deputy General Manager; the other was Gabriel Robson, the Orion Industries secretary who had been relocated.
The seat with the 'General Manager' nameplate still needed to be fulfilled.
Who might the mysterious General Manager be?
Everyone was excited to find out! They seem to out of breath waiting for the news.
