Within a few days, all three Voss family members in direct line of succession passed away.
Alaric and Gudrich Voss died as a result of health complications caused by their infected injuries, while Alfie Voss fell at home due to grief and banged the back of his skull, resulting in his death.
However, many people did not believe this. There is more than meets the eye. Coincidence does not happen so fast especially for the wealthy family.
Anastasia didn't believe it either, mainly because a fight had broken out between Ethan and the Vosses over Charlotte and her only a few days before. However, they died a few days later. Something is not right on the order of events.
Anastasia found it challenging to think that this was unrelated to Ethan. She needs to talk to Ethan about this.
As a result, she was feeling exceedingly complicated. On the one hand, she didn't want to believe Ethan would be so callous and stoop low to their level as to kill them for revenge. However, given the facts, she was forced to disbelieve him.
So, when Ethan arrived to pick her up from work at the entrance to the Spark Enterprises office, Anastasia decided to express her concerns since she couldn't bear the anguish in her heart disturbing her peace with her husband. "Ethan, did you cause the deaths of the Vosses?"
When Ethan heard that, his hand tightened. He then drove to the side of the road, pulled over, and applied the brakes and face Anastasia to answer her.
"Anastasia, are you suspecting that I killed those people?" Ethan asked coldly.
Anastasia bit her lip. "I do not want to suspect you, either. However, you did have a disagreement with the Vosses because of what occurred to me and Charlotte. Furthermore, I haven't heard of them offending anyone recently besides you. I know you can do this, but I want you to go within a reasonable distance and perform such unlawful activities.
He smiled cruelly. "Am I an immoral devil who kills others without feeling anything in your eyes? Is that how you know me?"
Anastasia pinched her palm and looked at Ethan. "Does that mean that their deaths have nothing to do with you?"
He stared into her eyes earnestly and nodded. "I can murder them, but I didn't do it. If I did, I'd admit to my actions. But because I didn't, I won't. The Vosses are unworthy of my intervention. They bring this to themselves."
Anastasia knew she'd misinterpreted him.
Ethan had the potential to destroy the Voss family at any time; therefore, there was no reason for him to take their life.
"I apologize. I was merely concerned that you did anything rash. I understand now." she apologized. After all, no one wants to be implicated in murder.
"That's okay. I understand. Do not worry." Ethan nodded, understanding of what she was concerned about. She was terrified he'd go down the wrong path and Sophia's father would be terrible.
However, her reservations were unfounded because he knew his bottom line. Besides, he wouldn't get his hands dirty easily. Something is amiss with the Voss family events.
Anastasia was reassured after hearing Ethan's words. She felt relief. She trusted his words.
…
Anastasia left for work the following day. Susan Clide entered her office and threw a stack of documents on her desk before she could switch on her computer. Susan ended up tipping over Anastasia's cup, which fortunately contained no water.
"Convert the data from these papers into tables and statistical reports. Create two sets of slides. "I need them for the meeting at nine-thirty later," Susan demanded, frowning in frustration.
Anastasia sorted through the materials strewn across the desk. There were fifty documents, half the thickness of a dictionary. She flipped through them, discovering that they included various data tables and scribbles.
Anastasia unconsciously frowned.
It was nearly 8:30 a.m., with barely an hour till the meeting.
The massive stack of documents would take a long time to process, and she had to condense them into a single data table before turning them into presentation slides. Putting the data in tables alone would take at least two days.
Getting everything done in one hour was an impossible feat!
"Ms. Clide, we don't have enough time. I won't be able to do it in time. Do you have the original digital spreadsheets for this information? "If you do..."
Before Anastasia could finish, Susan growled, "Are you a good-for-nothing? I need help getting you to complete a simple task. Can't get it ready on time? Do you come into the office every day only to muddle through? You could have at least known your role here in this company. You should have been fired long ago."
Anastasia took a deep breath and forced her fury to subside.
Susan Clide was making things difficult for her on purpose! Anastasia is not to be trifled with.
It wasn't the first time, either.
Susan had wanted Anastasia's transfer to her department since the day she rejoined Spark Enterprises and began working from the bottom up.
Anastasia assumed she was only grateful and trying to take care of her. She hadn't think of Susan making difficult for her in any reason. Besides as per her understanding, Susan is an employee with good business acumen and bright mind.
Susan was just another young graduate when Anastasia was still the chairwoman of the Spark Enterprises's board of Director s. Because of her low family background and Anastasia's witnessing her being tormented multiple times in the office, Anastasia took pity on her. She made an exception by elevating her to personal assistant.
Although she took on the work of an average assistant, being the assistant to the company's chairwoman meant she was regarded far differently than other aides. Thus, Susan was driven to a high position with Anastasia's assistance, and her status and salary rose, leaving many envious.
After the Reeds took Anastasia's Spark Enterprises, Susan stopped talking to her and even ignored her.
Anastasia assumed Susan was only concerned that she would be implicated and anger the Reeds if they saw her speaking to her. And so she didn't hold any grudges to Susan. She understands Susan's action.
However, Anastasia never imagined that Susan would request that she be transferred to her department so that she could torture her daily by assigning impossible-to-complete duties. Susan often reprimanded Anastasia and threatened her with termination, forcing her to move to Dreamscape Media. She is making her daily work difficult for her.
Susan purposefully humiliated Anastasia and made things challenging by assigning her such a large stack of documents, which was an impossible task.
Anastasia gave up on completing the work after thinking about it. She looked at Susan and replied, "Ms. Clide, I do not believe I have ever treated you poorly. "Why do you have to torture me like this intentionally? Could you give me a valid explanation?"
Anastasia believed she was communicating calmly. But, to her amazement, just as she finished speaking, Susan raised her hand and smacked her across the face with all her strength!
Smack!
