Brendan straightened his suit and tie, ready to greet the VIP with a smile, but he was taken aback when he saw his grandfather approaching with Mr. Wilcon, who looked frustrated. Initially puzzled, Brendan quickly realized that Mr. Wilcon's hostility was directed at Ethan, the wastrel beside him. While he is not aware of the reason behind Mr. Wilcon's hostility, he is delighted to know that many others are offended by this good-for-nothing Ethan.
Ethan squinted, thinking, "Enemies often cross paths." The VIP was Nero Wilcon, the arrogant man he had encountered at the Wise Kids Kindergarten the previous day—the man he had sent flying yesterday.
Brendan hurried forward, plastering a humble smile on his face. "Mr. Wilcon, please ignore this useless person. I'll get rid of him immediately! Let's head to the conference room to discuss our collaboration."
Wilcon violently shoved Brendan's hand away, snapping, "Forget that! Is this person a Reed? Why he is here? Explain to me at this instance! You, wait and see!"
With that threat, Wilcon turned and stormed off. Despite his desire to attack Ethan and avenge yesterday's incident, he was still nursing injuries from Ethan's kick, and most of his subordinates were still in the hospital. Thus, he had no one to help him exact his revenge. He can only wait for another day to exact the revenge he is itching to happen.
"No, Mr. Wilcon, please wait. Let's discuss this calmly!" Thaddeus and Brendan anxiously tried to placate Wilcon and prevent him from leaving. They would do everything to have this partnership with Mr. Wilcon, but this chance rarely came.
"That scoundrel has nothing to do with the Reeds. I'll call security to have him thrown out right now!" Brendan exclaimed desperately.
Wilcon slapped Brendan across the face and shouted, "Do you take me for a fool? Why is he standing outside your company's conference room if he has nothing to do with you?"
Stinging from the slap, Brendan dared not show his frustration and could only blame Ethan. "Mr. Wilcon, this loser has no connection to the Reeds. If he offended you, I'll have him apologize right now!"
Glaring at Ethan with disdain, Thaddeus added, "How did you upset Mr. Wilcon? Hurry up and apologize to him right now."
Seeing the Reeds' hostility towards Ethan, Wilcon felt somewhat appeased. "I don't want an apology," he sneered, lifting his head arrogantly. "If you're serious about cooperation, tell this idiot to kneel before me. If I'm satisfied, I might reconsider the collaboration. Do it now as I have no time in the world."
Thaddeus barked at Ethan, "Did you hear Mr. Wilcon? Get over here, kneel, and apologize! Whatever you did to make him offended, you should apologize and kneel!"
Ethan, naturally, ignored the command. He would never kneel and apologize. Looking coldly at Thaddeus and the others, he said, "You don't even know what happened between us, yet expect me to apologize? Besides, didn't you claim I have nothing to do with your family? Who are you to order me to kneel and apologize?" These people are something.
"You insolent..." Thaddeus fumed. "If you don't kneel and apologize, I'll kick your family out!"
Anastasia's eyes widened in shock. Grandpa is threatening to kick us out again. Doesn't he care about us at all?
Ethan's expression darkened. Does he think he can scare me with threats? I'd have no reason to stay with the Reeds if it were just me. I will be happy not to be entangled with this kind of family after all, if not only for Anastasia.
Suddenly, a receptionist rushed over, panting heavily. "Mr. Boysen from Orion Industries has arrived. He's waiting in the reception room downstairs!"
"What? Orion Industries? Mr. Boysen is here in person?" Thaddeus and the other Reeds were stunned. Even the haughty Wilcon was taken aback.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and greet Mr. Boysen!" Thaddeus shouted, running down the stairs with a group of others, not even waiting for the lift.
Ethan smirked, noticing that Wilcon was also following them.
Anastasia tugged at Ethan urgently. "We should hurry down, too! Let's go!"
Thaddeus hurried into the second-floor reception room to welcome Gideon Boysen. "Mr. Boysen, my apologies for not receiving you properly!" he cried enthusiastically.
Wilcon quickly extended his hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Boysen. I am Nero Wilcon from the Wilcon family, who are owners of CTI Corporation."
Boysen gave him a dismissive look, not shaking his hand. "Wilcon family? CTI Corporation? Never heard of it." Without extending his hand.
Wilcon's face hardened. Although CTI Corporation was not on par with Orion Industries, the Wilcon family was still a prominent first-tier family, deserving respect even from the Reeds.
Wilcon bit back his anger, not daring to show hostility towards Boysen. However, seeing Ethan and Anastasia present, he found a target for his frustration. "You scoundrel, who let you in? Thaddeus Reed, didn't you say you'd get rid of him?"
"Hmph!" Boysen scoffed and asked, "Nero Wilcon, head of CTI Corporation, you think you're so powerful, do you? Who are you to interfere in matters between Orion Industries and the Reeds? Why are you here, by the way? My reason for coming is for Reeds only."
