Alexander turned his head slightly, his eyes narrowing in concentration. "I'm sorry, but I don't remember… I don't remember you."
The words struck her like a blow. She fought to hold back the tears, not wanting him to see her break down. "It's okay," she said, her voice barely audible. "We'll figure it out together."
Dr. Lambert glanced at Rain, noting her distress, but he kept his focus on Alexander. "It's normal, Xander," he said gently. "You've been through a lot. Your memory might take time to come back. We'll give you all the time you need."
Alexander looked at the doctor, then back at Rain, still struggling with his confusion. He seemed lost, as if trying to make sense of the world around him. "But… how did I get here? What happened to me? Where's my father, and… William? Where are they?"
