Chapter 1 - Sophia

**Sophia's POV**

I arrived at Monacom Towers at 10:00 am. I proceeded to the logistics office and was given a book to enter my name and details. An automatic camera that was mounted at the entrance took my picture instantly.

I was taken to a section where I was asked to sign digital documents.

I was then asked to wait behind until the person I entered his name confirmed that he actually invited me.

The visitor management system automatically alerted Julian Monac, the name I entered as my inviter about my presence. He declined and I don't know why. Probably, he did not want anything to do with my sister again. My mind began to ponder.

I was not allowed to use the elevator that would take me to his office since he declined.

"Hello, sir," I said to one of the logisticians.

"The MD is yet to confirm the second invitation I sent to him and he did not decline either. You just have to wait until he confirms you," the middle-aged man said to me.

"Okay, I'll wait," I bobbed and sat down again, waiting patiently.

I went to an eatery that was a few feet away from the company when my tummy began to rumble.

I came back after some hours believing he must have accepted the invitation, but I was surprised he hadn't.

It had been five hours since I arrived at Monacom Towers, Julian had not granted me the permission to use the elevator that would transport me to his office. This was a very big opportunity for me, so I was ready to wait until the dismal time.

I knew Michelle would be waiting impatiently for my call, so I decided not to call her. I brought my phone out and checked if there was any missed call on it, there was none. It was as though my sister knew I was holding the phone, her call came in immediately.

"Hi, Sophia, how is it going?" Michelle asked.

"I have been at the logistics since I came in."

"Why?" Michelle asked.

"Julian is yet to confirm me."

"Go back again and reapply, he must have forgotten he has a notification," my sister advised. Eva, who probably was listening to the conversation, snatched the phone from her.

"Sophia, don't forget to add your last name as you are reapplying. Forgive your father and add his name. That is the only name that rings the bell," Eva said quickly before Michelle took the phone from her.

"She is not wrong you know?" Michelle said before hanging up.

I started her registration process all over again. This time, I made sure I wrote my first and last name. To my uttermost dismay, the invitation was confirmed within two minutes of registration. I was led to the elevator and walked in. It was almost closing time, however, Julian waited for me.

His hot secretary took me to the MD's office after receiving authorization from her boss. I was quite excited. I wished Julian would just change the offer from part-time to full-time.

"Good day, sir," I greeted as soon as I walked into the exquisite office. Julian waved at me, gestured to the visitors' seat, and concentrated on the task he was rounding up.

I seized the opportunity to feast my eyes and steal glances at him too. He was quite gorgeous. I wished I was the one he was crushing on.

"Sophia Jonah?" Julian frowned. I became uneasy.

"Yes, sir," I responded politely, still wondering why he frowned his face.

"Your sister said a lot of good things about you," Julian said, fixing his sharp eyes on me.

"The first thing I want to offer is a statement of excitement. Basically, "I am so excited to meet you. I'm so excited we will be working together," he said without any excitement on his face.

"I'm excited too," I smiled.

"Your sister said you are good at what you do."

"She is correct, sir," I said confidently. "Your skills and talents will be a great addition to our firm. Welcome on board Ms. Jonah," Julian said with a handshake.

"Thank you, sir."

"You will enjoy working with us," Julian said.

"Thank you, sir."

Julian grabbed his pen and put down an address. He handed the piece of paper to me.

"Here is our house address. Be there before ten o'clock tomorrow. You will be working with Richard Monac, the Chief Executive Officer of Monacom Groups. He will give you instructions, please make sure you follow his instructions accordingly. Do not act on your own accord or publish a work without his approval. He must see every article before it is sent to the public. I hope you are okay with my explanation?" Julian asked.

I shook her head vigorously and happily

"Your appointment letter is ready but it will be signed once your first assignment is confirmed by Richard Monac," Julian said, looking directly into my eyes.

"You look exactly like your sister and I hope you are as intelligent as her. Do you have anything you would like to know about the new job or have problems with any of the conditions?" He asked.

All the conditions he mentioned were like dreams come true. I preferred working with his father to him. Julian looked so mean and I could not imagine myself working with a person I'm scared of.

He stretched forth his hand for a handshake again, I stood up and shook hands with him. I did not need anyone to tell me that my time was up.

"I will be on my way then," I said.

"Thanks for coming, Sophia Jonah. Please send my regards to your sister. She can come and see me any day she feels like," Julian grinned for the first time since I came into the office. I was quite surprised, so I gave him a curt nod.

My phone began to ring as soon as I stepped out of the office. It was as if they knew I had gone out. Michelle could not wait to hear the outcome of the meeting. I ignored their calls and pushed a button to summon the Elevator. The elevator descended slowly to the ground floor. I boarded a cab to my sister's residence.
