Knot Wedding Resort
Blaze took a step back, his anger disappearing, totally getting vanished as he faced Savannah. He still stood close to her, though, like a shield between the two women.
"Savannah-" Anastasia started, her voice shaking, "I didn't mean—"
"Didn't mean to insult me?" Savannah cut her off, her voice getting sharper. "Or didn't mean for me to hear it?"
Blaze moved closer to Savannah and touched her arm gently. "Just let it go." he said softly, his voice calm compared to the tension between the two women.
Savannah nodded but kept her eyes on Anastasia. "This was supposed to be your day, Ana." she said, her voice full of emotion. "But somehow, you find a way to make everything about control."
Anastasia opened her mouth to reply, but nothing came out.
"Let's go!" Savannah said finally, turning to Blaze. He offered his arm, and she took it without hesitation.
As they walked away, Anastasia was left standing alone in the garden. The laughter and music from the reception sounded far away and lonely.
The cold evening air felt like it was seeping into her bones as she watched them leave, her mind spinning with regret and shame.
For the first time that night, she truly felt the impact of her choices and the emptiness they had left behind.
Next Morning
The next morning, the sun lit up the wedding resort in a soft golden glow, casting long shadows across the neatly trimmed lawns. The place, which had been bustling the night before, was now quiet.
The party from the one night was over, replaced by the calm stillness of dawn. Savannah stood in the yard, watching as they loaded their stuff into the sleek black car nearby. Next to her, Blaze leaned inside the car, placing Savannah's stuff, carefully.
Savannah was wearing a simple but bright outfit, quite different from the fancy dress she had on the day before. She looked calm, but there was something unspoken in her eyes. Blaze stayed quiet, giving her space while still being his usual quietly protective self.
From across the yard, Anastasia saw Savannah. Her heart tightened seeing her friend about to leave. She couldn't stop thinking about the night before—
Savannah's intense look, her silence, and the words Anastasia wished she could take back. Even though she was scared of Blaze and felt some awkwardness, she couldn't let Savannah go without trying to explain.
Anastasia went over cautiously. Noah walked with her, not noticing the tension between them. He had a big smile and had his arm casually around his new wife's shoulders.
"I see you're leaving.'" Noah said warmly, breaking the silence as they reached Savannah and Blaze.
"Yeah, we really did enjoy the wedding." Savannah replied with a polite but distant smile.
"I'm glad." Noah said sincerely.
As Noah talked, Anastasia's eyes stayed locked on Savannah. She waited for her friend to look at her, but Savannah just kept talking to Noah. This obvious avoidance hurt, a sharp reminder of the mess her words had caused.
Anastasia felt her heart racing. The truth of what Savannah overheard was still weighing on her, and she couldn't let her friend walk away with such a big misunderstanding. Gathering her courage, her voice shook a little as she finally spoke up.
"Sav, can we talk?"
Savannah finally turned to face her, looking wary. Blaze shifted a bit, his sharp eyes locking onto Anastasia, giving her a clear warning. Noah, unaware of the tension, smiled and patted his wife's arm before stepping back to give them some space.
"Yeah, sure." Savannah said after a moment, her voice flat. She looked at Blaze, who gave her a tiny nod. Then she followed Anastasia deeper into the yard, away from the car and the others.
The air was heavy with unspoken words as they stopped by a bunch of blooming hydrangeas. Savannah crossed her arms, waiting for Anastasia to speak.
"About yesterday..." Anastasia started hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.
She glanced nervously at Savannah, who stayed quiet but listened. "You took it the wrong way. I didn't mean what you thought you heard."
Savannah's forehead wrinkled, and her lips tightened. "What do you mean?"
Anastasia's mind was spinning. She couldn't tell the truth—not now, not ever. The truth would just make everything worse, and she couldn't risk losing Savannah for good, or anyone close to her. So, she stuck with the lie she had been thinking about all night.
"I was testing him." she said, her voice getting stronger as she went along with her made-up story.
Savannah blinked, clearly surprised. "Testing him? What are you talking about?"
Anastasia took a deep breath and forced herself to look Savannah in the eye. "I saw how much he cares about you. It was super obvious, and I guess I just wanted to push him to see how far his care really goes. I didn't mean anything by it, I swear."
The words came out fast, the lie smooth but empty. Anastasia hoped Savannah would buy it and that this explanation would be enough to fix things between them.
Savannah tilted her head, her face softening as she listened to Anastasia. "So... you were checking if Blaze really cares about me?"
Anastasia nodded fast. "Yeah, exactly. I know it was dumb, but I didn't mean any harm."
Savannah let out a little sigh, her body relaxing a bit. "You should've just talked to me instead of doing something like that." she said, though her voice wasn't as harsh now.
"You're right!" Anastasia said quickly, eager to make things better. "I should've. Sorry, Sav."
Savannah studied her friend for a moment. The silence between them felt long. Finally, she nodded. "Alright. I understand. Let's just put this behind us."
A wave of relief swept over Anastasia, even though she still felt a bit guilty. She forced a smile, hoping it looked genuine.
"Thanks," she said softly.
Savannah nodded and return the same smile. She can't leave her friend just like that.
She headed back to the car where Blaze was all ready to go and Noah was standing by the side. As she walked off, Anastasia watched her, feeling a mix of relief and unease.
When Savannah got back to the car, Blaze held the door open for her. He gave Anastasia a quick look before focusing on Savannah.
"Everything okay?" he asked softly as she got into the passenger seat.
Savannah looked at him, her lips pressed tight. "Yes, everything good." she said, but her voice still sounded tense.
Blaze nodded, his face giving nothing away as he closed the door and went around to the driver's side.
As the car pulled away, Savannah gazed out the window at Anastasia and Noah, who were getting smaller in the distance. She felt a pang of sadness but focused on the road ahead instead.
A Day Later
Blaze stepped into his company's grand lobby, his stride confident and commanding. He had just returned after a week away, attending his woman's best friend's wedding a rare occasion where he left everything behind to be by Savannah's side.
The employees straightened up, some murmuring polite greetings, others bowing slightly as the Chairman, their Boss, walked past. His presence was magnetic, and the authority he carried made even the air feel charged.
Arthur, his ever-efficient secretary, followed closely, a tablet clutched in one hand and a sleek leather portfolio in the other. Together, they moved with purpose, their polished shoes clicking against the pristine marble floor. They entered the elevator, and Arthur reached out, pressing the button for the 11th floor.
The elevator hummed softly as it ascended, the numbers lighting up one by one. When the doors opened with a smooth chime, the two men stepped out into a luxurious hallway.
The walls were adorned with modern art, and the air carried the faint scent of cedar and leather. The rich carpeting muffled their footsteps as they approached the grand double doors to Blaze's office.
Blaze pushed the doors open, revealing the sanctuary of his command—a huge, beautifully designed space that oozed luxury and strength.
Floor-to-ceiling windows gave a stunning view of the city, with the skyline stretching endlessly under the morning sun. The main piece in the room was an impressive mahogany desk on a raised platform, a quiet reminder of the hierarchy at play here. Everything that he missed.
Arthur followed him inside and closed the doors behind them. Blaze went straight to his chair, a fancy, custom-made seat that seemed to symbolize his authority. He sank into it, looking all powerful as he looked around the room.
The desk was covered with papers—some neatly stacked, others just waiting to be dealt with. Arthur put another set of files in front of him. "These need your signature." he said, stepping aside to give Blaze some space to work.
Blaze picked up the first file and opened it. His sharp eyes scanned the contents quickly, his mind processing the details fast. He signed where needed, then put the file aside and grabbed the next one.
While Blaze was working, Arthur gave him an update on what was happening at the company.
"The board liked the quarterly numbers." he started.
"The deal with Horizon Tech is going ahead—legal is almost done with the contracts. We've also got a meeting with the finance team tomorrow about the expansion project. Should I check if you're free?"
Blaze looked up for a second. "Yeah, make sure the projections are on my desk by the end of the day." he said, making it clear there was no room for discussion.
Arthur nodded. "Got it."
They kept going for a few more minutes, covering everything from upcoming meetings to decisions waiting for Blaze's okay. When Arthur finished, he stepped back.
"Need anything else, Boss?" he asked, his voice professional but respectful.
Blaze shook his head, already deep into the next file. Arthur got the hint and left, letting Blaze have some alone time.
The office went quiet, just the sound of papers shuffling and an occasional pen scratch breaking the silence.
Outside, the city buzzed with life, but inside those walls, Blaze was the king of his own little world—a guy whose choices affected a lot of people.
As he signed another document, his thoughts drifted to Savannah. That week with her had been a rare break, a chance to reconnect and live a different life. But now, the demands of his empire were calling, and Blaze was ready to get back to work.
Later that day
Blaze got out of the car and walked into YouHeal Hospital, the high-tech hospital he owned. The building's shiny glass front glinted in the afternoon sun, showing off its modern look—a clear sign of Blaze's drive for excellence. Inside, the air was cool and clean, with a slight smell of disinfectant that made everything feel precise and cared for.
Arthur trailed right behind him, tablet in hand, ready to jot down notes or give orders if needed. They moved through the hospital with a clear goal. Blaze's presence turned heads, even among the experienced staff. The Chairman didn't visit often, and when he did, it was a big deal. The workers tried extra hard when he was around, wanting to impress the guy who built this whole place.
Blaze was here to inspect the integration of a newly launched medical device, approved in his absence, into the hospital's practices. The device, designed for minimally invasive procedures, was the result of months of research and development under his supervision.
A senior doctor told Blaze about the device's early use, sharing good feedback and small changes they were thinking of making for wider use.
Blaze listened carefully, his keen eyes checking out the machine and its surroundings. He asked clear, direct questions about how well it worked, if it was safe, and how patients were doing, keeping his voice calm but wanting exact answers.
Feeling good about what he heard, Blaze went to another part of the hospital where the device was already in use. He watched the staff work to make sure everything fit together smoothly.
Once he was sure everything was working right, Blaze headed back to the elevator. Arthur tagged along, figuring they were going back to the car or the main office. Blaze pushed the elevator button, but instead of the ground floor, he pressed another number—one that made Arthur look at his Boss. Getting where they headed to.
When the elevator dinged and the doors opened, Blaze walked out with Arthur right behind him. This floor was quieter, with administrative offices and consultation rooms lining the hall. Blaze moved quickly, his eyes scanning until he stopped in front of a familiar door.
He pushed it open without waiting. The room was empty. Blaze's eyes darted around, and his face tightened. Savannah wasn't there.
