Herbert Hospital
Savannah leaned back in her chair, holding a warm coffee mug. The cabin felt cozy and peaceful, a nice change from the busy morning she had at the surgery.
Across her, sat Bella, who was looking through some patient files at the small, rustic desk. Savannah let out a soft sigh, feeling relieved by the calmness of the moment.
The door creaked open, and there was a gentle knock. Savannah looked towards the doorway just as a tall figure appeared in the light.
A woman about 5'5" walked in, dressed simply but elegantly. She paused for a second, her presence drawing their attention, and then spoke softly.
"Sorry to interrupt," she said, locking eyes with Savannah, a knowing look in her eyes. Bella looked up, confused, switching her gaze between the woman at the door and Savannah.
She tried to figure out what was going on. She noticed Savannah's posture change slightly, her face shifting from relaxed to instantly recognizing the woman.
Savannah's eyes opened wide as she stood slowly, her hand still holding the coffee mug. A faint, almost unnoticed smile appeared on her lips. She knew exactly who this woman was.
The woman at the door didn't move, standing still and ready, as if she was waiting for Savannah's answer.
Bella, who was sitting across from her, kept looking back and forth between them, not sure what their connection was.
But she could tell they knew each other, but she couldn't figure out where she had seen this woman before. "Who is she?" Bella wondered to herself, feeling a bit confused.
Savannah spoke softly, and there was something in her voice that made Bella a little less stressed. "It's been a long time."
Savannah said quietly, her eyes fixed on the woman in the doorway. Bella's mind was spinning, trying to piece everything together as she watched both women's faces. The mood in the room changed, and Bella felt left out of a conversation she hadn't joined yet.
Baldwin's Mansion
Blaze walked into his mansion feeling tired from a long day at work.
His men bowed to him as he passed, reminding him of his power and influence. But he barely noticed them. All he could think about was getting home to Savannah, the love of his life.
As he stepped into the main hall, the rays of moonlight made everything look warm and cozy. The house smelled like wood and fresh air, which usually made him feel better after a long day.
But tonight, something felt different. He stopped at the entrance to the living room and looked around. Usually, he'd hear Savannah moving around, her laughter, or her quiet chats with the staff. But tonight, there was nothing. No sign of Savannah.
His heart skipped a beat. "Where is she?" he mumbled to himself, clenching his jaw with a mix of frustration and fear.
She was usually close by, always around, making the house feel like a home. But tonight, the silence was choking him.
His secretary Arthur, trailing behind, stood awkwardly in the hallway, understanding why Blaze was suddenly so worked up.
Blaze gave him a quick, sharp look and without saying a word, headed towards the stairs. With each heavy step, unease ate away at him. First stop was their bedroom. He pushed the door open, but it was empty. No sign of her. His stomach twisted.
Next, he headed to Savannah's room, walking faster. But when he opened the door, it was just as empty as before. Panic set in.
Where is she? He couldn't afford to keep looking. He was halfway down the stairs when he shouted to the housekeeper, his voice tight with worry. "Where is Savannah?" Before the staff could answer, Arthur, his secretary, showed up at the right corner of the mansion. Blaze walked up to him before Arthur could.
"Arthur, what's happening?" Blaze asked, his voice a bit sharper than normal. Arthur pointed down the hall, looking tense. "There she is, Boss." Blaze followed Arthur's gesture and spotted her at the distance through a tiny window gap.
Savannah. She was in the kitchen, talking to someone he couldn't see from the distance, a big smile on her face. Blaze felt a mix of relief and confusion.
Her smile. That smile was enough to ease the tension in his body, but why was she in the kitchen?
She didn't usually hang out there, especially without him knowing about it. He walked into the kitchen, his steps nearly silent on the shiny floors.
When he walked in, both Savannah and the head chef looked at him. Her eyes sparkled when she saw him, and Blaze felt himself relax.
"You're here?" Savannah said, her voice warm and welcoming. "Yeah, just got here." Blaze answered, still trying to figure out what had her so focused on this cooking space.
He watched her, holding a pen and paper, "Learning to cook something?"Blaze asked trying to hide how curious he was.
Savannah quickly hid the notepad behind her back with a playful smile. "Maybe," she said softly, looking at him with teasing eyes.
She walked toward him, just as charming as always. "Now it's done," she added, her voice a bit lighter as she gave the chef a small nod of thanks. "Thank you, Chef," she said as she left the kitchen, with Blaze right behind her.
As soon as they got to the corridor of the living area, Blaze couldn't hold back his curiosity anymore.
He turned to her, his eyebrows slightly raised. "Tell me," he urged. "What?" Savannah asked, sounding innocent, but Blaze knew her well enough to hear the playful tone in her voice.
"What were you doing there?" Blaze asked again, his eyes fixed on her as they headed to the main living room.
Savannah shrugged, but Blaze could tell she was keeping something from him. "Nothing much-" but before Savannah could finish, Blaze stepped closer, pressing himself towards her and pinning her against the wall.
He had one hand on her waist and the other propped up next to her head, looking intently at her. "I missed you." Blaze murmured softly, his voice filled with longing.
Savannah looked up at him, her heart pounding. "Well, I missed you even more." she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer. Her notepad, which she had been hiding behind her back, slipped a little, but she tried to keep it hidden. She didn't want to give away the surprise just yet.
Blaze's lips were close to hers, his breath warm on her skin. "How about you show me how much you missed me?" he whispered, his lips touching hers as he leaned in.
But just as things were getting intense, a voice rang down the hallway. "Boss?" Blaze froze. His face got dark, and his jaw tightened as he tried not to lose it.
He couldn't let himself go in front of Savannah, especially not now. Savannah pulled back, looking toward the sound.
She saw Arthur standing at the end of the hall, looking tense. Blaze glared at Arthur with cold, unforgiving eyes, giving him a clear warning that made the guy shiver.
Arthur swallowed hard, his mouth dry, but Blaze just nodded at him and waved him off for now.
"Sorry, Boss," Arthur stammered, clearly realizing he was just a hair's breadth away from getting into serious trouble with Blaze. Savannah, always quick-witted, saw her chance.
"Gotta go!" she said, giving Blaze a sneaky grin. "I've got stuff to do." she added, feeling pretty pleased with herself as she slipped away before he could say no.
As she headed down the hall, Blaze stayed put, feeling pretty annoyed. His mind was all over the place. He wasn't sure if he should feel relieved or just plain ticked off. But one thing was clear-Savannah had something up her sleeve, and now he was dying to find out what it was. For now though, all he could think about was how much he wanted to be near her again, to feel her warmth.
Secret Hideout
Blaze, the powerful and mysterious guy, was walking back and forth in his dark, hidden basement.
The walls were covered with screens showing fuzzy images and data. He was just having a special moment with Savannah, when Arthur came.
His loyal assistant, Arthur, interrupted him and told him to come to this underground hideout. Blaze's thoughts were still with Savannah, but he knew he had to be here.
As he looked at each screen one by one, his eyes jumped between the blurry videos of his guys watching over things and the live feed of a target, marked by a moving red dot. "Let me know when you find exactly where he is." Blaze said firmly.
The guys on the other side of the screens nodded and started typing away, following the target's movements closely.
Blaze picked up his pace, his mind racing with the excitement of whatever mission was coming up.
His eyes caught the route the target was taking-a familiar path that just didn't feel right. He couldn't put his finger on it, but something seemed off. "Got him yet?" Blaze broke the silence as he walked toward the far end of the basement, where Arthur was waiting.
Arthur followed close behind, matching Blaze's steps. "Should we do it tonight?" he asked, but the gravity of the situation made his words sound almost casual. Blaze paused for a second, turning to face Arthur. "Not tonight. Let's wait a week."
Arthur's face stayed blank, but he nodded. "We'll keep an eye on him till then. No details will be missed." Blaze's sharp eyes moved back to the monitors, his focus unwavering.
"Don't miss anything. I want every little details." Then Blaze turned and walked out, his long steps echoing down the concrete hall. Arthur followed, looking back at the guys who were left wondering about the hold-up. Why the pause? Why the extra week?
The tension was thick as Blaze left the basement. But those who knew him best saw it differently. The delay was a sign of more important things in his life.
Baldwin's Mansion
Blaze walked into the bedroom, feeling the day's heavy meeting still weighing on him. The air smelled like cigars and whiskey, leftovers from the basement. He closed the door softly, but as soon as he stepped in, an eerie silence hit him. It was so dark it felt like the shadows were closing in, almost alive and watching him.
He looked around fast, spotted the switch next to the door, and flipped it. The bright overhead lights came on with a buzz, pushing away the darkness-but something felt strange. Then he noticed the bed was empty. Savannah, his missing partner for the night, wasn't there.
"Savannah?" he called out softly, his voice showing a bit of impatience. No answer.
He turned around and walked quickly towards the bathroom, but it was empty. The closet doors creaked as he opened each one, but the clothes just hung there, still and untouched.
His heartbeat sped up. Maybe she was on the balcony?
He went to the sliding door, pushed it open, and looked out into the night. All he heard was the gentle wind rustling through the trees.
But Savannah was nowhere to be found.
Blaze stood there, his face showing confusion. This wasn't the first time this happened.
She had disappeared before, without saying anything or leaving any clues, leaving him to wonder where she could have gone and why she always seemed to vanish like smoke.
"Where the heck does she keep disappearing to?" Blaze grumbled to himself, his frustration clear.
His fists were tight by his side. This was the second time this happened. The second time she took off without a word.
Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He fished it out, his mind still swirling with thoughts of Savannah. He unlocked the screen with his thumb and squinted at the message.
"Meet me in the backyard."
Now he was even more puzzled, but he didn't waste any time.
Stuffed the phone back into his pocket and spun around. No matter what was up, he knew better than to question Savannah for too long. She was a mystery-a dangerous one-but also someone he couldn't afford to ignore.
He hurried through the house, out the back door, and into the night, the shadows engulfing him once again.
The night air hit him, and the moonlight made everything look pale and green. He walked deeper into the backyard, where the smell of flowers filled the air. But there was still no sign of her.
"Savannah?" he called out, a bit louder this time. His voice echoed across the yard, but she didn't answer.
He felt that tight knot of worry in his chest. Just as he was about to call out again, the backyard suddenly lit up-not just any light, but something special and warm, like something out of a movie. It gave the whole area a magical feel. Then he heard her voice.
She stepped in from the left, walking into the light with her hands behind her back. She broke into a huge, bright smile and started singing-"Happy Birthday to you"-her voice sweet and full of joy.
Blaze froze for a second, his chest tightening as he looked at her, the woman who had stolen his heart in a way he never expected.
When she finished the song, she walked up to him, still grinning. "Happy birthday, Aze," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief. Blaze blinked, puzzled by the new nickname. "Aze?" he repeated, scrunching his forehead. "Where did that come from?"
"Your birthday name from me."
Savannah grinned wider. "Here you go, birthday boy. Happy birthday!" she said, her voice cheerful and relaxed.
Blaze in rhe other hand, was still trying to wrap his head around the surprise when he looked at her. "How did you know?" he asked, really curious. Savannah narrowed her eyes at him, a playful twinkle in them.
"Did you think you could escape this?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. Blaze laughed, glad to see her playful side. He moved closer, ready to give her a hug, but she stepped back, giving him a sneaky little smile.
"What happened?" Blaze asked, his confusion growing. Savannah grinned mischievously.
"It's a little surprise for you," she said, pulling out a medium-sized cake and holding it out in front of him. Blaze was taken aback for a moment.
"Happy birthday, Blaze" she said again, her voice soft and warm. Blaze looked at the cake, then back at her.
"Is this really for me?" he asked, not believing it. Savannah nodded, looking tender.
Blaze's heart tightened. To be honest, he'd never had a birthday party before. Never got to cut a cake or blow out candles. Nobody had ever made his birthday feel special until now.
He was speechless for a bit, feeling all sorts of emotions, but then he managed a smile. "Shall we dig in?" Savannah asked, her voice soft and full of excitement.
Blaze nodded, still amazed by what she had done. They headed to a bench in the backyard, putting the cake on a little table in front of them.
Savannah started singing "Happy Birthday" again, her voice bright and joyful, while Blaze carefully cut the cake.
It was the first time he'd ever done something like this. The first time anyone had made him feel this kind of happiness on his birthday. As he took the first bite of the cake, he realized it wasn't just about the cake, or the candles, or the singing.
It was about Savannah, the woman who had found a way to make him feel something he thought was gone: love.
He looked at her, his heart full of affection, and knew this moment would stick with him forever.
He was the happiest man alive. He promised himself on the spot that he would celebrate every birthday just like this-one with Savannah by his side, filled with laughter, love, and all the things that made life truly special.
That's what happiness meant to him. She was his happiness.
Bedroom
Savannah walked back inside the mansion, her hand resting comfortably in Blaze's as they strolled through the grand hallway.
The night had been way better than she imagined, more than she thought she deserved. His birthday celebration was magical, but now, with Blaze by her side, it felt like the night was just getting started.
"So, how was the cake?" she asked, looking up at him with a playful smile, her voice still warm from the celebration. Blaze, his arm around her, grinned at her with eyes full of affection. "It was just like you- perfect."
Her heart skipped a beat at his words, and she couldn't help but smile back. The way he always made her feel... it was hard to put inte words.
"So, this was why you were in the kitchen earlier?" he asked, giving her a teasing look. Savannah nodded, her expression turning gentle. "Yeah, Blaze," she said softly. "It was all for you."
Blaze opened the door to the bedroom wide, letting her go in first. He stayed at the doorway, watching her with this knowing look.
Savannah walked in and felt the air change. It was darker than normal. "Why's it so dark?" she asked, reaching for the light switch on the wall.
When the lights came on, she gasped.
Right in the middle of the bed were her favorite flowers, all around a cake that looked like it was shining with love and effort. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. "This?" Savannah said, her voice full of disbelief.
Blaze chuckled softly from the doorway. "Thought you'd escape, Ana?" he teased, walking deeper into the room and giving her a warm feeling, like a hug.
Savannah spun around, surprised and amazed. "How did you...?" Blaze moved closer to her, gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"I know everything about you, Ana. More than you know about yourself," he said softly, his voice filled with love.
Savannah froze for a second, her heart swelling, taken aback by the unexpected move. "Come on, let's cut the cake, quick!" Blaze said, his voice playful but urgent.
Savannah nodded, still in a daze, as the emotions from the night threatened to overwhelm her. She had never thought she'd celebrate her own birthday.
In the past, she'd always kept it low-key, just her and her son, a small celebration at home.
She never told anyone about her birthday and didn't think she'd ever have another celebration.
But Blaze-well, he remembered, planned everything, and now here they were, sitting on the bed with a cake, her favorite flowers all around.
Tears welled up in her eyes as they sat down on the bed, Blaze on one side and Savannah on the other.
Blaze started singing the birthday song, his deep voice filling the room, making everything feel so real-almost too real, but in the best way possible.
Savannah cut the cake, the sweet cake Blaze had made for her, and a tear slipped down her cheek. Blaze immediately noticed and looked worried. He got up quickly, sitting beside her, his hand gently resting on her shoulder. "What happened, honey?" he asked, concern in his eyes.
Savannah looked up at him with a small, shaky smile. "Nothing... I'm just so happy," she whispered, more tears slipping out.
Blaze's heart went out to her when he saw her like this. He gently held her face in his both palm "Look at me, Ana," he said softly.
Savannah hesitated for a moment but then slowly met his eyes. Blaze wiped away her tears, his expression soft and caring. "Don't ever cry on your birthday," he whispered.
Savannah gave him a soft, almost fragile look, her heart swelling with emotion. Blaze smiled softly and brushed her cheeks with his thumbs. "If you're happy, smile, Ana. That's better," he said warmly.
Savannah smiled, feeling his love wrap around her like a warm hug, but she couldn't help but giggle a little. "The cake is a bit dry inside" she said with a playful look.
Blaze looked at the small vanilla cake and gave a sheepish grin. "I'm really so sorry, Ana," he said, a bit embarrassed.
Savannah shook her head, her eyes full of affection. "What are you sorry about? I thought the chef here was a pro," she teased.
Blaze laughed and blushed a little. "I actually made this cake," he admitted, his tone light but sincere. Savannah blinked, stunned for a moment.
"You made this for me?" she asked, her voice full of wonder. Blaze nodded, looking at her sincerely. "I'm sorry if it's not perfect, but I tried my best wanting to make it for you," he said softly.
Savannah couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Don't apologize. I didn't say it wasn't tasty," she said, cutting him off.
She grabbed a piece of the cake and popped it into her mouth, savoring the flavor. "Wow, it's really good," she said, genuinely surprised.
Blaze raised an eyebrow, a smile creeping up on his face. "Really?" Savannah nodded, keeping her smile. "Really," she told him, then added playfully, "Want a bite?" Without hesitation, Blaze leaned in, but not for a piece of cake in Savannah's hand but for her lips.
Their lips met in a soft, Blaze tasting the cake from Savannah's lips and surprisingly it was way too much sweet for him.
He travelled inside her mouth, the kiss turning into a passionate and a lingering one.
In that moment, everything else disappeared. The world, the pain, the loss-all of it faded away. It was just the two of them, sharing a simple moment of joy.
