The office was quiet, except for the faint hum of the city outside. Blaze's big office had the blinds drawn, throwing long, sharp shadows around the room.
Arthur, Blaze's trusty secretary, stood still behind the desk, the soft tapping of his pen the only sound breaking the heavy silence. Blaze, behind his big mahogany desk, looked like someone who had seen and done everything. But tonight, something felt off. The door burst open so hard it made the windows rattle.
Blaze's eyes, cold and sharp, snapped to the intruder. A tall, slender woman in black rushed in. She moved quickly, and her silhouette in the dim light showed how desperate she was. "Please help me!" she cried out, her voice shaking with fear. Her words hung in the air, as if the room itself was waiting to see what would happen next.
Blaze didn't move a muscle. He just sat there, tapping his fingers on the edge of the desk, his face unreadable. He didn't need a clear view to know who it was. The big black sunglasses and the way the cloth wrapped around her body were a dead giveaway- Veronica Rodriguez. Standing in front of him, she wasn't the same person he'd met maybe a month ago. She looked like a scared animal backed into a corner, and that made things a lot more interesting.
His gaze narrowed. "Go on," Blaze said, his voice low, like it was just another game. Veronica walked closer, each step heavy with fear. When she reached the desk, she stopped and let her hands fall, showing the wide, scared look in her eyes.
"Baldwin, I need your help." Her voice trembled, shaky and scared. "Raiders broke into the mansion, trashed everything, and found stuff they shouldn't have. I'm in deep trouble. The police are after me, and my company's been shut down, Everything's falling apart."
Blaze leaned back in his chair, a small smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Why would I help you, Veronica?" He stared at her, his eyes glinting with a dangerous light. "You're married to my rival, after all." She swallowed hard but held his gaze.
"You helped me take down Rodriguez. We are on the same team, I know you can do it again," she said, her voice tinged with desperation. "I know you don't want this to happen. You don't have to let it end this way for me. Please."
Blaze's smile turned grim. "I took down your favourite man Romano and your dear husband Rodriguez. You were just a small part of it." His voice got colder, like ice. Veronica's eyes widened, caught off guard by his sudden change. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice trembling a bit.
Blaze got up slowly from his desk, the chair making a loud scraping sound on the floor. "Rodriguez is out, Veronica," he said,"Along with Romano" his voice heavy with threat. "And that just leaves you, doesn't it?"
Veronica stepped back, her breathing getting faster. Her eyes scanned the room, looking for a way out, but she was stuck. She couldn't believe what was happening This can't be real, she thought. Not now, not when things were already worse.
"What are you talking about?" she stammered, her calm starting to slip. Blaze didn't answer. He turned to look out the big window, his back to her. His figure blended into the darkness outside, like he was a part of the night. The room got heavier with each passing second.
In a voice barely above a whisper, Blaze spoke again. "I killed them, Veronica. Both of them. Romano and Rodriguez. Your dear ones" he said as if he was ready a book, so simply. "And now it's your turn."
The air in the room felt icy cold. Veronica froze, her chest moving up and down with quick, shallow breaths. She couldn't get any words out. His truth was hitting her hard, and it felt like a heavy weight on her chest.
She took another step back, her mind spinning and her body shaking. She turned quickly, almost losing her balance as she tried to pull herself together. "What-what did you do to them!? Why would You!? WHERE ARE THEY!?" she shouted, her voice getting louder.
Blaze's smirk grew wider, and he slowly turned to face her. "It's going to be a long night, isn't it, Veronica?" he said, his voice filled with dark amusement.
Veronica stumbled back, her hand reaching for the door, trying to find a way out. She didn't see this coming. She didn't expect him to play it like this. Now, fear took hold of her in a way she couldn't understand.
"Arthur," Blaze called, his voice cold as ice. Arthur, always ready to obey, moved his legs and quickly crossed the room. He opened a drawer and pulled out something heavy that made a scary clinking sound in the silence.
Veronica's eyes went wide with fear when he took out a a slick knife, its metal smooth and solid. She didn't need to see it clearly to know what was about to happen. Blaze's smile grew wider. "Let's have some fun, shall we?"
Veronica's heart raced as she spun around, tearing off the big cloth that hid her and yanking off her sunglasses. She was moving fast, driven by sheer panic. Without a moment's hesitation, she bolted for the door, her breathing heavy and uneven. Blaze just stood there, not even trying to stop her.
Her footsteps echoed down the hallway, her desperate race for survival breaking the silence of the office like a far-off scream. Blaze stood by the window, watching her with a smirk.
"This is fun," he murmured to himself, then turned to Arthur, who was ready for orders. "Let her run," Blaze said, his voice dripping with dark pleasure. "She can enjoy her last few moments."
With that, he turned back to the window, watching the city lights flicker below, the room falling silent again. Tonight, Blaze wasn't just a businessman. Blaze chuckled darkly. Let her run. He didn't need to chase her. She was already trapped in his web.
After a few moments of scanning the city below, Blaze moved to the door and opened it, looking left and right down the hallway, but she was nowhere to be found. The entire building was silent, shrouded in darkness. It was late-1 a.m., to be precise-and no one was around to witness what was about to happen.
"Veronica?" he called, his voice carrying through the hallways, "Where are you hiding?"
The silence stretched, taunting him. She's close. She has nowhere left to go.
Blaze walked toward Arthur's desk, checking behind it, but the corner was empty. He walked further down the hall, his eyes scanning every inch of the building. You won't be running for long, he thought, enjoying the thrill of the chase. The tension in the air felt thick enough to cut with a knife.
As he walked through the dark corridor, he ran his knife along the walls, making sure the screech of his touch would echo through the silence. He knew she was listening. He knew she was scared.
Meanwhile, Veronica was hiding in the conference room, her breath quick and shallow, her hands pressed against her mouth to stifle the sobs. Tears dripped down her cheeks as she crouched under the table, trying to remain silent. She cursed herself for coming here. She should have run. Should have gone somewhere else. But now, it was too late.
Blaze flicked on the lights in the co-working area, scanning each desk, one by one. She wasn't here. His eyes darted around the room, the tension building as he narrowed his search.
"You know when I find you, I'm going to enjoy every moment of it." Blaze's voice was soft, "Starting from cutting off your every fingers to screeching out every hair on your head" his words carried with a weight that sent shivers down his spine. "I'm excited, and you, Veronica? I'll make sure you enjoy it too."
His gaze moved toward the door of the conference room. He knew. He could feel it in his gut..
He approached, the knob cool beneath his fingers. "Veronica, are you in here?"
The silence answered him.
Blaze turned the knob and stepped inside, eyes immediately scanning the room. His sharp gaze caught a flash of movement beneath the table.
"Peekaboo," he said, his voice dark and cold.
Veronica scrambled out from under the table, standing up in a panic, but Blaze was already standing, calm and composed, enjoying the sight of her panic.
"Ready?" he asked, his tone mocking.
Veronica dashed for the door, but Blaze let her run. He was right behind her, moving with a slow, measured pace. He didn't need to rush. She couldn't escape.
They reached the stairs, and Veronica pushed herself harder, the sound of her footsteps echoing against the walls. She reached the 16th floor, her breath coming in sharp, ragged gasps, but Blaze stayed right behind her, never speeding up, never breaking his stride. He was enjoying this.
She turned to a corner, her heart racing, and ran into a storage room. She slammed the door behind her, locking it with trembling hands. Inside, she hold on to the knob of the door for her dear life, she can't be found now.
Blaze on the other hand was walking up the stairs with a cigar in his left hand, screeching his knife on the metal railing, making sure Veronica hear him coming.
Blaze scanned the whole 16th floor with his eyes as he smoked on his cigar, calculating the possibility of her hiding. Moving more deeper on the floor turning on the right hallway to checking every empty room he finally saw one specific room at the end of the hallway and smirked. "Wait till I get my hands on you."
The dimly lit hallway echoed with the soft, deliberate knock. Knock-knock.
Blaze stood tall, his dark eyes trained on the door. His breath steady, but his mind calculating. He knew she was in there. He could smell the fear, the desperation lingering in the air, thick as smoke. "Are you in there?" His voice was low, controlled-like a predator testing the waters.
No response.
"I know you're."
A moment of silence, then a sharp twist of his hand. The lock snapped, metal grinding against metal with a satisfying crack. He pushed the door open, revealing the small, cramped storage room. It smelled of dust and loneliness.
"Found you." There she was, crumpled on the floor, her figure trembling in the corner, eyes wide with terror. She was messed, totally opposite of her usual appearance.
She didn't move as he stepped into the room. He watched her for a second, noting the way her chest rose and fell with quick, shallow breaths. She was scared-no, terrified. Good. "Please no." She cried.
He took a single, slow step toward her, his boots heavy against the cold concrete floor.
She started to move. A shaky hand reached out for the doorframe, as if trying to drag herself out of the room. But Blaze was quicker. His hand catching her wrist with a firm grip.
She froze, her wide eyes locking with his. There was no pleading. No words. Just raw, desperate panic. She must have known there was no escape now.
Blaze tightened his hold, dragging her back into the center of the room. Her breath hitched, she cried out loud again, he liked that desperation in her voice.
"Running won't help," Blaze said, his voice cold as steel. "You should've known that from the start."
And thump!
Blood.
Quick as he was, Blaze stabbed straight in the center of her stomach, "Do you feel it?" Blaze gave a dark smile, Veronica? She couldn't say or even cry as she slit out a mouthful of blood, spilling it over herself, sge couldn't even cry for help, Blaze let go of his hold on her.
"Now it's fun. It was getting too boring earlier, don't you think too?" He questioned her, Veronica she swept down on the flood landing on her stomach, laying lifeless blood gushing out her fresh wound, "H-h-help" a voice not even audibly she said, "You know I had this urge, from the moment you stepped in my company a month ago" Blaze started talking as he still smoked on his half left cigar.
Veronica opened her eyes slowly, her eyes scanning the way out still hoping for a way out, she needs to. With a little strength that had in her whole being she crawled towards the open door, struggling she finally crossed the half door, Blaze watched her enjoying the sight before him.
"I wanted to rush out the blood from your body, ripping every inch of your skin, cutting off your every part of your body into tiny pieces. While you're still alive" Blaze's words still creeped out Veronica as she crawled halfway towards the stairs going up the 17th flood, "P-please" she again cooed, tears soaking her entire face, making her hair damp too, she crawled on her stomach towarda the stairs.
Smoking the last bit of the cigar, Blaze crushed it with his boots and took a deep exciting breathe, standing an inch behind Veronica, "Enough with the games, woman" and gripped her hair from behind, Veronica jerked back and cried out a heavy painful cry, "Guess what?" He said watching a satisfying scene infront "I'll be fulfilling my dream." Slit!
Veronica couldn't see anything. Heavy crt filled the entire building which only Blaze's men could hear.
His favourite move. Her eyes were divided into two, giving it a clean snd sharp cut all in the center, Blood poured out like water coming out from a tap.
"Tell me you enjoying it?" He asked her. She didn't answer "Tell me?" She again didn't answer. When he didn't get an answer he slammed her face on the stairs, several times and demanded an answer he didn't stopped until "I-I" he hears her words, she couldn't complete as she was in a really bad state, but it was enough to make him satisfied for now.
"Let's begin the fun part, shall we?"
