"Do you want some cake?" Alessia suddenly asked as she let go of his hand.
"I don't want cake from a party I wasn't invited to," Xavier said, standing up.
"It was just going to be the three of us, but I cooked so much I had to call your men in. They're very pleasant people to be with."
Xavier rolled his eyes, earning a chuckle from Alessia. "I could cook something for you if you want."
"You look like you would collapse at any moment."
"Why would a small party like this tire me out? I used to help people plan and host their parties when I was in college, and I was well paid for it. I was a pro."
"I bet you were," Xavier teased as his hand went around her waist.
"I really was!" she replied with a pout.
"I agree with you." He nodded slowly, a teasing smile on his face, enjoying the sight of her defending herself.
"I won't give you any cake," she warned.
"Who said I want the cake? It's you I want."
