Alessia bit her lip as she tried to control her tears.
"I'm so sorry," she cried. All her life, she had been responsible for helping others around her, no matter what it took, and she always succeeded. Now, she felt helpless and hopeless, and it made her heart twist.
Xavier hugged her once again as she bawled in his arms. When she finally stopped crying, they took a walk along the garden.
"It's Christmas tomorrow," Xavier whispered, trying to cheer her up. He was aware that she always loved celebrations that brought family together.
"I should call my siblings to go to Mrs. Smith's. The bodyguards should go home to celebrate with their families too... but I'm scared," she said, turning to face Xavier.
"Why is that?"
"Francesco is now conscious."
"Not for long," Xavier responded with a frown.
"Xavier, please don't confront him anymore. I don't want you to get hurt. Let's just focus on you."
