2. Identification of Sickle Cell Warriors and Carriers
Outcome: Identify the number of Sickle Cell Disease warriors (SS and SC) and carriers (AS and AC) within the tested group.
- Measurement:
- Genotype Testing Data: Collect and analyze data from the genotype tests to determine the prevalence of SCD and carrier status among the 200 students tested.
- Statistical Analysis: Use the data to generate statistics on the expected prevalence rates:
- 25% diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SS and SC).
- 50% identified as sickle cell carriers (AS and AC).
- 25% with normal hemoglobin (AA).
Impact:
- Early Detection: Early identification of SCD warriors and carriers will enable timely intervention and management, reducing the risk of severe complications.
