Vince didn't know what to say. He had a lot to digest. Add the fact that his eyeglass was confiscated made him feel worse. He wanted to beg for the eyeglass but he also agrees with his Nana that he abused his ability.
Just as he convinced himself to accept his fate, he heard his Nana laughing out loud.
"I'm....sorry.....Vince." Winona managed to say in between fits of laughter. "You believed that?"
Vince was the very face of confusion. He didn't know what's happening. He didn't know what to believe.
"Our ability," Winona began to explain, "has something to do with karma. We can harvest bad karma and turn it into good karma. Or harvest good karma and turn it into bad karma. Or just use what karma we harvest."
"It would be nice if we could really just choose which karma a person must get. But that's not our real ability." Winona looked at Vince and began to explain.
"Let's start at the beginning." Winona snapped her fingers and an orb big enough to cover both of them appeared. "Now, no one can hear us or see us. They can't even sense this area and will subconsciously avoid us."
"You are a part of a clan of wizards. You have an ability. You haven't awoken it yet."
Nana's words shocked Vince. He clearly knew that he has been using his ability for many years. Even the current state of his body, his amazing physique, is a testament of him using his powers. What is Nana talking about now?
"Ahem. Ahem" Winona cleared her throat before speaking. " Let me ask you Vince. Can you remembyyour father giving you money? Or buying food? Can you explain why your targets for revenge would just waltz nearby your house? Even though some of them live on the other side."
Vince cannot answer one question of his Nana. He thought that his father gave him all of the money that he used alongside his ability. But thinking about it now. Vince cannot remember receiving money from his father. Except the money he received on the first week after leaving the hospital. But if the money he used all those years are a lie, what else isn't true?
Vince looked at his Nana hoping to get some clarity.
Winona smiled and spoke more on what Vince needs to know. Apparently, their clan are unable to absorb mana. They can absorb karma and through some magic tattoos, convert it into internal mana.
A young member of their clan can only absorb karma. They cannot release it yet. And without the magic tattoo, they cannot convert it into mana.
Any absorbed karma would slowly be absorbed by the body. Those with talent can somehow choose which part of their body gets to absorb the karma. It seems that Vince is pretty talented in this area. He was able to play around with which part of his body would be the focus of karma absorption.
The fainting and or numbness in Vince body is just a mental lock Winona placed on Vince, so that he would place a limit on his karma absorption.
As for the bad karma experienced by the people Vince attacked, only some of them were truly given bad karma. And Winona was the one to cast the bad karma to them.
Currently, Winona is working at the hospital. Her work involves taking the bad karma from patients and giving those scheduled for surgery some good karma. Thanks to Winona, the hospital enjoys a low death rate for patients and high success rates for surgeries.
As for why Winona toyed with Vince, it's a test of the clan. They needed to see how Vince would act. The eyeglass simply gave them access to Vince's mind. Through the eyeglass, they can see his thoughts and influence it a little. That's how they were able to make him think that his ability is real.
If Vince wished for the deaths of people and used his ability to make it happen, then Winona would be forced to seal Vince. That would stop his body from absorbing karma as well as make it impossible for a magic tattoo to be placed in his body. Essentially, Vince would become a normal non wizard. The physique he obtained wouldn't be removed but modified.
If a member of their clan failed the test then their body would be changed to match the physiof an Olympic gold medalist. This should have been Vince's fate. Thankfully, he passed the clans test.
The part about EMBERs is true. Same with the seven islands. Since he passed the clans test, he would be sent to the seven islands to adopt.
Winona said that Vince's father failed the clans test. He didn't desire death of people. He just didn't use his ability. As for absorbing karma, he also rejected it subconsciously. Winona simply sealed his body and didn't share the secrets of the clan to him.
Winona said that after Vince passed through the seven islands, she would place the magic tattoo on his body.
Vince was left alone to ponder on what his Nana told him about the clan and his future. The seven islands would enable him to learn spells. Each island has different spells to be obtained. It is up to his capabilities whether he can obtain the spell or not.
Then Vince realized something. He wouldn't have mana in the seven islands because his ability to convert karma to mana would only be given (magic tattoo) after he left the seven islands. That means the seven islands aren't your typical wizard schools.
Vince would be sent to the seven islands soon. In the few days that he has left, he can use to prepare. Without any information, his preparations would be useless. So Vince just gorged himself of all the food that he would not be able to eat in the seven islands.
All kinds of food were brought to Vince's house everyday. He did this until he recieved his Nana's call. Vince would finalyenter the world of wizards.
