Terrorism Arc: Chapter 4.5

Taiju and Mai were making their way to the American National Airport, a hint of curiosity piquing Taiju's interest. He couldn't help but wonder what the surprise gift was. As they arrived, Taiju's confusion grew. Kami gestured toward the entrance and said, "Look ahead."

Taiju's eyes widened in shock. "Huh?!" Standing before him were his parents and Mai's family. "What are you guys doing here?" he asked, incredulously.

Kami explained that he had invited their parents as a special gift. Taiju's father rushed over, enveloping him in a tight hug. "I missed you, my son! I'm so proud!" he exclaimed.

Taiju was taken aback. "What are you talking about, you old man?"

His father proudly revealed that Taiju had been invited by the American government. "What?!"

Kami interjected, "I thought bringing your parents here would be a great gesture, considering you might feel alone."

Taiju grumbled, "I was fine on my own and I have friends. And my dad's just an idiot."

Suddenly, Taiju's father shook Kami's hand with reverence. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kami. The Glorious Man, the Crown of America! I can't believe I'm meeting someone like you! I knew Taiju wasn't a mistake; I'm so proud!"

Taiju snapped, "Dad?! What do you mean by mistake?"

His father averted his gaze. "It's nothing." Taiju shot back, "Every time you turn your face, it means you're lying or hiding something. I understand, old man!"

Mai was delighted to have her elder sister and parents here. Her sister embraced her dramatically, crying, "I thought we lost you forever, and the property would all be mine! How could I bear so much pain alone? Thank goodness!"

Mai rolled her eyes. "I'm not dying before you, you damn sister."

Taiju's father, Hanaka Rouen, introduced himself to Kami with great respect. "It's an honor to meet you. I'm still in disbelief that we're meeting someone who saved the world. Kami, that name itself is merit!"

Kami welcomed them and offered them the option to stay as long as they wanted. "You can even live here forever if you'd like. Kami's assistant will take care of everything." They were overjoyed.

Kami mentioned that he would arrange diplomatic passports for them at no expense. Mai's mother asked, "What's that?" Mai and her father explained, "It's the red passport."

Taiju's father thanked Kami and said, "Thanks for everything, but don't worry about us. Sorry for bothering you." Kami glanced at his watch and excused himself, mentioning he had a meeting.

As Taiju prepared to leave, he joked, "So, Dad, since you're here, have fun. Destroy America from its core. It was nice being your son. Let's meet in the afterlife." His father, smiling, grabbed Taiju's collar. "You're not going anywhere. Aren't you going to give us a tour? We're old now, and I can't do everything myself."

Taiju pointed at Kami's assistant. "He's here. Why do you need me?"

His father responded, "He's old. You can't leave me in the hands of a stranger."

Taiju countered, "Mai's family is here. Why don't you go with them?"

His father insisted, "I don't want to bother them."

"Damn old man," Taiju muttered, resigned.

They explored various places together. America had seen significant changes since a major war years ago. One side was still devastated, while the other side thrived with technological advancements: robots, electric cars, and more. Taiju took them to his school, and his father beamed with pride. "I'm so proud you're in this school. I wanted you to be a top-class businessman and take my place. How about helping me in my business after graduation?"

Taiju grinned. "Hey old man, you're only 35, you know?"

They continued their tour, and Mai's family and Taiju's family were given accommodations. Before leaving, Taiju's father asked if he wanted to come back with them, but Taiju declined. He wanted to stay with his friends and pursue his goal of joining the army, not handling business. His father, with a gentle smile, approved. "You're capable of many things that few can do. Just don't end up like your brother…" His words made Taiju emotional.

His father would return to Japan the next day, and they would stay in a hotel for the night. "I'll keep working on my business in Japan. I have many people supporting me, friends and workers who dreamed with me. I don't want to leave them behind. Mai's father is in the same boat as me."

Taiju's father promised to continue his work in Japan and urged Taiju to grow into a kind and strong man like his brother. "It's going to be tough. You might leave friends behind and make sacrifices, but don't break. Keep moving forward and take care of your friends."

His father also asked Mai to look after Taiju. Mai replied, "Don't worry. If he fails, I'll kick his ass."

They hugged and said their goodbyes. Mai's sister also hugged Taiju as if it were the last time they would meet. They would head back to Japan the next day.

Back in Alexander, Virginia, Manabu asked where they had been all day. Taiju explained they had met their families. "Are they staying long?" Manabu inquired. Taiju responded, "Not long, maybe until tomorrow."

Manabu sighed. "That's pretty soon. You should have told me."

Mion called out, "Dinner is ready!" Mai exclaimed, "Yes, we're coming. It smells so good! Is that curry?"

Meanwhile, Maria, having just finished refreshing herself, asked Taiju about his father's business. Taiju explained, "He manages a global business firm with high-level connections. He's an investor, focusing on promising opportunities and managing assets. Mai's dad is his business partner. They've been friends for a long time, and that's how Mai and I met as kids."

Maria was intrigued. Taiju added, "My father is one of Japan's most successful businessmen, but he's just starting. He has a lot more to do."

Manabu asked, "So what else did he say?"

Taiju replied, "He said some random stuff, but it's been a long time since we talked. He's mostly busy with work. Ever since my brother died, he's been disconnected. I asked him if I could follow in my brother's footsteps and become an army officer. He approved, but it was clear he was hesitant. He's stubborn but kind. I'll make him proud."

Mai asked, "So what's next for you?"

Taiju said, "I'm going to finish my studies and get my degree. I'll fight in my brother's place."
