Iguro and Charlatan were duking it out on the hallway. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched.
By who you ask...?
It was a person who knew everything about everything around them. A person who was a void even within darkness, and a freak among men. Someone who was everywhere yet nowhere at the same time.
The man stared at them with an unsurprised look, seemingly unshaken by the spectacle before him.
I knew this was going to happen sooner or later but this is too early. I should make precautions. I can't have my cover get blown yet.
He thought to himself as he walked back into the shadows.
Meanwhile, outside on the football field.
"Get out of my way! Rat!", Dex exclaimed as he and Yu slammed into each other.
"No. You're in the way, naked emperor."
The score was now tied to 2-2 and there was less than 20 minutes left till the match was over. The crowd was start to feel tense, the breathtaking sight of Dex struggling in soccer was alluring.
The ball was at their feet, dawdling as they dribbled each other.
"I thought he didn't know soccer", Miyamoto exclaimed as he watched their play.
"They are clearly on the level of World-Class...no-Gods!", James said as he watched.
To everyone these two were evenly matched but in reality, Yu was just devouring everything Dex had. Learning all the techniques in football and his as well. Yu didn't know all the techniques in football but by watching everyone he began to understand and was using what he knew effectively. Right now, if Dex was 100% in Soccer, then Yu was 70%. To score the last goal, Yu would need to reach 100%.
As they were going at each other, a player slipped through them as he stole the ball.
"Why are two kings flirting with each other?", Okawa said as he sprinted away with the ball.
We turned to him and immediately ran after him. Okawa was surprised because even Dex was chasing after him. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough to evade us and thus we dominated the ball again but I was one step ahead. I used a jumping trap on the ball before kicking it with Daemonic Impact. Dex was confused and couldn't understand the reason for my strike. He thought I was being desperate but...too bad.
He couldn't grasp the hidden meaning of my attack. The ball flew at highspeed towards my target, overtime it slowed down causing the recipient of the ball to catch it with a chest trap. Miyamoto who was very close to my opponent's goal post caught the ball, that was my plan to have Miyamoto score the last goal.
Dex immediately noticed and moved to stop it but he was too slow, Miyamoto entered his shooting motion but just as he was about to score a goal.
BOOM!
With my very eyes, I witnessed a flash of electricity and Iguro punched by a dude in black. Everyone's eyes snapped to the scene as Iguro fell from the 3rd floor of the school building.
Approximately, 60 seconds before the flash.
Iguro and Charlatan shattered the hallway with their shockwaves. They ran across the lockers and ceiling, exchanging punch and kick, sound and darkness, which will prevail.
"Can you remember how long we've been fighting?", Charlatan chirped as he blocked a punch from his assailant.
"Nope.", Iguro answered as he dodged a kick from him.
"Exactly...right now we're in the flow and the one who reaches max output is the one who wins."
"..."
"How rude."
"Back at ya."
Iguro used the shockwave blast he used on Guillotine, "Sonic Howl!"
But Charlatan countered immediately, "Blackhole!"
The incoming sonic boom was compressed into a singularity with dark energy, the blast was successfully contained or so he...thought when Iguro said, "Revival."
The compressed blast exploded cracking the walls and air; the blast sent a surprised Charlatan flying.
"Revival, a technique I devised two minutes ago, it allows any detached part of my Occlusion energy to be resuscitated remotely."
Charlatan stood up with a smile but the moment he looked at Iguro, he saw something baffling.
For throughout the fight, Charlatan saw openings and ways to attack or counterattack Iguro but for the first time in this brawl, he saw no openings.
Huh?! Wait... are you for real?
He stumbled, Is this my loss? No, I can't lose! I can't-
"Iguro!"
A voice called out to Iguro breaking the flow state between them. He turned to the owner, it was Amanai, who was clutching her stomach and limping. She smiled as she looked at him, "Iguro...", she fell.
He ran to help her but made a grave error, in a fight you don't take your eyes off your opponent. Just as Iguro realized this, a fist slammed his face and a flash of lightning was brought to life.
Equilibrium Break.
Ballistae are tools used to turn Occlusion energy to other forms of energy, they have various uses but are mostly used in combat. A ballista is designed in the sense that it is in a dynamic equilibrium. A state where the rate of Occlusion energy input is equal to the rate of its output. The ballista is to remain in an equilibrium throughout its use but...there is an exception and that is an Equilibrium Break.
An Equilibrium Break is a rare but temporary occurrence where the input of Occlusion energy or the output suddenly surges. If the input suddenly increases, it is called a backward break, the Ballista becomes weaker because the output has to be recalibrated but if the output becomes suddenly rises, it is called a forward break, the Ballista becomes stronger. Once an Equilibrium Break occurs, it is immediately resolved by the system that is what causes the electric flash.
In Charlatan's case, he gained a forward break, he grinned at this golden opportunity as he smashed his fist into Iguro's face, the amount of dark energy present forced Iguro's face to be stuck onto his fist. Amanai screamed to no avail; Charlatan drove Iguro through a wall and out to the light.
Iguro had passed out from the unexpected attack and fell from the third floor.
Present time.
"AH!"
The crowd broke into a panic, the unexpected scene threw them into pandemonium.
I immediately made my way towards the scene.
"Iguro!"
Shit! Something happened? Was that Iguro? Who was the other guy? Where's Amanai?
I ran as fast as my legs could take me.
I jumped out of the field but had to take a detour around the building due to the crowd.
Damn!
I thought as I was blocked by the disorderly mob.
I ran behind the building, almost reaching the broken veranda of the third floor but was immediately stopped from behind. I heard the clicking of a gun and raised my hands in surrender.
"Who are you?", I asked.
"An unnecessary question. Don't turn back.", a somewhat familiar voice ordered, firmly.
"What do you want?"
"You, I'm from DedSect. I'm here to collect you."
DedSect?!
"..."
"If you understand, drop to the floor."
I didn't move but opened my mouth and spoke.
"Agent from DedSect.", I paused as I reflexively dodged an incoming bullet and turned midair, "thank you for coming."
I opened my hand and pointed it at the masked agent who took a step back. A hole appeared on the palm of my hand and a burst of flame emerged from it.
The agent, as if expecting this, dodged with ease. They took aim and fired another shot from their revolver. I blasted it with flames.
"Why do you resist?", they said as they landed with grace.
I looked at them without uttering a word, I raised my right hand before making a finger gun with it. Instantaneously, a bolt of lightning materialized from my finger and made its way for them. They hesitated for a moment before barely dodging it, the bolt grazed their mask.
"You...", they said as they regained their composure but I closed in and landed an Occlusion-infused kick.
The force sent them flying to a pillar; a crater was made on the moment of impact. They collapsed from it.
I walked towards them and squatted, "You're the agent they sent...pathetic."
I grabbed their mask but almost immediately they vanished.
"What?!", I blurted out.
In a flash, they slammed their leg into my torso and I was sent skidding across the pavement. I winced in pain as I clutched my abdomen.
"You think you're so high and mighty. Did you really think he would have sent someone without taking your strength into account? Eh...Yu?", they said in a very familiar voice.
"Huh?"
I turned around to see the agent take off their mask and toss it to the side. The face of my assailant shook me to my core.
"Honami...?", I said bewildered.
"That's right.", she said.
I couldn't react, even when she pulled up the gun and pointed it at me. I just watched as she pulled the trigger and my vision went black.
