When Naoki arrived at the pokemon center, Nurse Joy was on the phone with her sister, who was far away in Artazon.
Seeing a Trainer enter, Joy immediately put down the phone and got back to work, her voice gentle: "Hello, how can I help you?"
Naoki explained his purpose. "Hello, Nurse Joy. I'm a rancher from a nearby ranch. Recently, the Pokémon I'm raising have gotten a bit too plump. I'm worried it might affect their health, so I wanted to consult you about it."
"Plump." Joy thought for a moment, then asked, "What kind of Pokémon are they?"
"Skiddo."
"I can't give a diagnosis without examining them. I'll need to do a physical checkup to provide a proper answer," Nurse Joy said.
"I see." Naoki realized he should have brought one of the Skiddo for a checkup.
Assuming he had many Pokémon on his ranch, Nurse Joy figured he hadn't brought one because it was inconvenient to transport them all.
She thought for a moment, then smiled and offered, "If it's difficult for you to bring them to the Pokémon Center, I can also come to the ranch to examine them."
The Pokémon Center was currently quiet, so she had the time to make a visit.
Naoki was surprised. "Is that alright?" Wasn't Nurse Joy supposed to stay at the Pokémon Center?
Joy nodded and explained, "Of course. Pokémon from other ranches have gotten sick before, and not everyone is a Trainer! It's not easy to transport Pokémon without Poké Balls, especially large ones, so I'll go to the ranch to help treat them when I have time."
Naoki understood. It was a good opportunity to avoid another trip, so he nodded and said, "Then I'll be grateful for your help."
"It's my job. Please wait a moment!" Joy smiled and turned to prepare the examination tools with Jigglypuff by her side.
After everything was ready, Nurse Joy emerged from behind the front desk, carrying a medical kit. "Okay, let's go!"
Naoki nodded and led the way on Cyclizar. Nurse Joy also rode a Cyclizar.
They soon arrived at the ranch. As Nurse Joy walked along the cobblestone path, she spotted Dragonite practicing Rain Dance beside the farmland, Alcremie frolicking on the grass, and Koraidon waiting at the door. A surprised expression crossed her face.
"It's so lively here! Are these all your Pokémon?"
"Yes," Naoki smiled. "I inherited this ranch not long ago. Some of these Pokémon were given to me, some I caught in the wild, and some I bought from a ranch in the town."
"Even that one?" Nurse Joy's gaze fell on Koraidon. In all her time working at the Pokémon Center, she had never seen a Trainer with this Pokémon.
Following her gaze, Naoki looked at Koraidon, who was walking towards him. At that moment, it resembled a large dog wagging its tail to greet its owner.
Naoki reached out and patted its head, saying vaguely, "To be honest, I'm not sure where it came from. I met it on the ranch. Maybe it wandered here from somewhere far away?"
"I see," Nurse Joy nodded, not pressing the matter further.
Under Naoki's guidance, she saw the three plump Skiddo lying on the grass.
"Those are the three, right?"
Naoki nodded and waved to the Skiddo, who stood up and trotted over.
"This is Nurse Joy. She's going to give you a checkup. Be good, okay?" Naoki told them.
"Maa~"
The three Skiddo's looked at Nurse Joy curiously with their big, round eyes.
Nurse Joy chuckled. "They're so Cute!"
She squatted down, opened her medical kit, and took out various examination tools.
"Alright, alright, this will be quick!" Joy first calmed the Skiddo, then began the formal examination.
"Hmm, heartbeat is normal, breathing rate is normal, fur is smooth. Huh? What's this?"
Nurse Joy looked at the energy detection device in front of her in surprise. "The Grass-type energy in this Skiddo has reached an incredibly high level!"
Naoki's heart tightened. "Is this harmful to their bodies?"
"Absolutely," Nurse Joy nodded seriously. "Generally speaking, the energy within a Pokémon's body should be balanced with its physical endurance."
"But if the energy exceeds the Pokémon's capacity, it will cause a series of problems, like high fever, loss of appetite, colds, and even more severe issues that weaken the Pokémon's body."
Hearing this, Naoki looked at the three cute Skiddo's.
At least judging from their current appearance, they didn't seem weak at all. As for a loss of appetite, that was even less likely. They didn't have a fever or a cold either.
Nurse Joy continued her examination, explaining as she worked, "So some trainers will have their Pokémon release excess energy through battling, ensuring a balance between their bodies and energy levels."
"If the energy isn't discharged in time, it can cause significant damage to the Pokémon's body. How long has this condition persisted?"
Naoki carefully recalled when the Skiddo first ate the Green Grass Dumplings. "Almost a month!"
Nurse Joy was taken aback. How was that possible? This wasn't normal!
"How do they release energy, then?" she asked.
As soon as she finished speaking, the three Skiddo's in front of her suddenly sprang into action. With the checkup over, they nimbly ran to an open space.
'It was time to party'!
A green light spread out from them, transforming the ground into a vast expanse of gently swaying grass.
On this Grassy Terrain, the Skiddo's began their daily dance.
Green Vine Whips swung back and forth, sharp Razor Leaves flew everywhere, and thick beams of Solar Beam shot into the sky. The three Skiddo's ran around on the grass, Leaf Blades clenched between their teeth.
Nurse Joy: "?"
What was going on here?
How was the coverage of the Grassy Terrain so large?
Was that a Grass-type move called Leaf Blade? But why were they holding it in their mouths?!
Her eyes widened in shock, and she was momentarily speechless.
Naoki's slightly exasperated voice came from beside her, "Well, this is what they do."
The Skiddo's were itching for a fight.
