Ariel gazed at josh's reply for a long time. For josh to say this, Daniel really didn't care anymore.
If he cared, he would want his relationship to be kept a secret. So if josh is telling her, it could only mean he had told josh he didn't care again.
Ariel took a deep breath. She just had to wait until his birthday.
Picking up her dairy, she started writing again. She was doing this more often.
DEAR ME...
You slide into my inbox as a stranger.
From a stranger, I watched u turn into everything I THOUGHT I wanted..
And just when I thought I could have my antidotes it became a problem.
Just like mum you made unfulfilled promises and left me on the edge again.
All is left of me is my echoing pains.
From early replies to late replies,
I should have taken all the warning signs but then I was too attached to see them..
This is the reason I choose fictions books and men cause the real world is too cruel for me and hurts so deep.
When you start to think there are more than enough, there just show you no one is enough,
And I told you that I wanted to let go cause the medicine won't always be there, but you assured me.
I know I'd wake up one day to discover the pain is no more.
Xoxo dairy..
Time went like a blink of an eye and finally it was Daniel's birthday.
The long awaited day had come.
Ariel didn't want to look desperate by sending him a Text early. Even if she was taking the initiative to message first, she still had her pride.
She waited till late noon to send him a text. When it was late noon, she replied to his story which had his picture.
"Happy birthday Danny."
Ariel looked over at her message and couldn't help but feel nervous. She just hoped she wouldn't loose her cool.
"Thanks princess." Daniel finally replied after a while.
'Just great,' Ariel murmured sarcastically. So she was still his princess.
She scoffed at the thought.
"I wasn't sure today was your birthday till I saw your post. Hence the late birthday wish." Ariel typed back nervously. She still wasn't going to act like she cared.
She prayed her hands shouldn't give that away while she typed.
After waiting for some seconds she decided to add.
"How have you been? Have you been busy lately? Because you don't reply all my texts and am sure you ain't gonna reply all of this either."
A minute went by without no reply, and the silence was killing her. She decided to scroll through some of his friends post.
There she had it!
Ariel's eyes went red after going through their post.
It wasn't the birthday wishes or the colourful cloths. She wished it was that simple.
But it was because almost all the pictures he took were with a girl.
A hot one at that!
You might be wondering how she figured it wasn't a sibling or something. This was because all the snapping posture showed there were extremely intimidate with one another.
She even came across a picture were the girl had her two hands on his shoulder as there stood opposite each other. That wasn't all-
She had her lips on his in the picture.
There was even an obvious smile on Daniel's lips.
Ariel was too busy staring at the pictures to notice the writings attached to the picture.
After staring till she was satisfied, her eyes suddenly captured the writings attached to the picture which was as colourful as the picture. It said; 'hottest couples are back y'all.'
That was it! She had seen enough..
She went back to Daniel's message to find out he had given her a reply.
"Is good you remembered."
"And oh, am sorry about that, I have indeed been busy with my studies and I know you are also busy preparing for your college exams."
"See.. I replied all your messages to prove you wrong." Daniel replied with a laughing emoticon attached.
Ariel stared at his responds with disdain. He was still gonna lie wasn't he? She wasn't busy with her studies when it came to him and he knew that. She'd always delay her reading whenever he wants her available.
"Alright. How's your birthday going?" Ariel asked acting like she knew nothing.
"It would have been perfect only if you were here." Daniel replied with a sad emoticon attached at the end of the messege.
Ariel didn't know if this guy was really serious. How could he be so thick skinned?
She couldn't take his pretence anymore and asked.
"Daniel, do you have a girlfriend?"
"I do." Was Daniel's simple reply.
So he was going to admit it willingly?
"Okay." Ariel replied back acting nonchalant like him.
"I know your blushing right now. Won't you ask me who she is?"
Ariel stared at his message. It took her seconds to discover what was going on.
He really didn't mean to admit he has a girlfriend who isn't her; he was just trying to flirt with her. He meant to say the girlfriend was her.
Ariel typed..
"I don't need to ask because I don't know who she is."
"Huh?" Daniel asked confused.
Ariel didn't have the strength to explain so she just sent a screenshot of her chat with josh.
"Oh.." Was all Daniel said.
"Daniel, say something..." Ariel typed but she could see the pleading in her message.
She really wanted him to denial and give her a reasonable excuse. But he wasn't saying anything.
"Just ignore josh." Was Daniel's respond.
"Okay then, I'd ignore him." Ariel sent..
"But could I ignore this?" Ariel attached a picture to the message. It was a picture of Daniel and a girl which his friend had posted earlier.
"Sh!t. I knew you would say something. Look Ariel, she's really pretty that's why my friends posted her. And the kiss was a dare. For real." Daniel stared at his reply wondering if Ariel would buy it. It wasn't like he didn't want her again, he did but not like before. He was getting tired of her. She had a habit of complaining about things she shouldn't even reason.
But the girl brain tends to think wide. Boys didn't like girls who were too smart. It did them no good.
He had planned to keep Ariel for a long time, but then Samantha came back.
He never really forgot Samantha because she was his first love. He didn't expect her to return either. But she had suddenly returned one day and came to meet him.
She explained what had really happened and begged for his forgiveness.
How could he not forgive her? He did and there were back together.
Honestly, he still had other girls apart from Ariel, just that Samantha was the main girl.
He only became that way because he wanted to find someone like Samantha. And Ariel had her eyes, something to remind him of his only love.
Ariel on the other side couldn't help but bite her tongue hard.
How stupid did Daniel think she was? She knew he had the feeling that she couldn't forget him. Which was true. It wasn't like she could wake up one morning without the memory of someone she had spent weeks with.
But she had told him before, she becomes attach easily but know when to stop. But when it came to Daniel things become difficult for her. He had that effect on her.
Thinking of a reply, she finally decided to succumb to her pain and feelings.
"Daniel why are you doing this to me? You know exactly what your doing and how hurt I am. Am I just a toy to you? That when you get tired of, you just dispose it into the trash?" Ariel replied as she tried not to cry. She had promise not to show weakness but here she was....
"Ariel I ain't doing anything. I've told you exactly what happened. Sh!t! how do I explain this? It's all josh fault." Daniel typed in frustration. So Ariel was still wrapped around his fingers, that was good. Daniel thought with a smile.
But then he had to warn his friends to stop triggering her. A little part of him still cared for her.
Ariel read his text and decided to send him a voice message on how she felt.
After making sure the voice message was okay, she tapped the send button.
It was a voice message of three minutes and some seconds.
"I think you mean worst, not more worst." Daniel replied, correcting a mistake she had made in her grammar. He really didn't listen to the voice message because he didn't have the time to Listen to a complain of three minutes plus.
"Is that all you have to say?" Ariel asked angrily.
"Yes Ariel, that's all I have to say."
