Chapter One
Lex's vision blurred as another kick connected with his stomach. Blood spurted from his mouth, and he felt his soul slipping away from his body. The alleyway around him grew dimmer, the sounds of his attackers' jeers and laughter fading into the darkness.
"Stand up and fight back, loser!" he heard Blake shout.
He thought he saw a flash of light in the distance, but it was just a fleeting glimpse of hope before the darkness closed in again.
Lex's heart raced rapidly as he struggled to understand how he had ended up here. He had always avoided this part of the town at night, with its narrow alleys and dark corners. The place is always deserted at night and makes it the perfect hideout for gangs and bullies.
He had been walking home from the library, lost in thought as he turned a corner. He had closed late from work and so took a shortcut through the alleyway to avoid the crowded streets, hoping to clear his head before facing his foster parents. But as he walked, the shadows seemed to grow longer and darker, until he felt like he was being swallowed by the night itself.
And then, Jake and his friends emerged from the darkness, their faces covered with mischievous grins.
Now, as he lay dying on the cold ground, he realized that his instincts had been right all along.
Lex's thoughts were interrupted by a sharp pain in his side, another kick had met with his ribs and he could swear that he heard a breaking sound. He groaned, his vision fading to black.
And then, everything went dark.
But in the darkness, a spark of ancient power stirred, waiting to be unleashed.
As the darkness closed in, Lex felt a strange sensation coursing through his veins. It was as if his body was being consumed by a fire from within, a flame that burned away his pain and his fear.
He felt his heart rate slow, his breathing steady, and his mind clear. And then, he felt it. A presence, ancient and powerful, stirring within him. It was a force that had lain dormant for centuries, waiting for the perfect host.
A powerful primordial entity had sensed Lex's potential from afar. He had watched as the young man struggled to survive in a world that seemed determined to crush him. And now, as Lex's life force ebbed away, the entity saw its chance to claim a new host.
Blake and his gang stood around Lex, watching as he laid there, lifeless. "Boys, I think we should leave now, this loser looks like he's gonna die anytime soon." Blake said as he backed off from Lex's body.
The air around Lex's battered body began to distort and ripple, as if reality itself was bending to accommodate the transformation. His limbs stretched and contorted, his body reshaping into something new, something powerful.
Claws sprout out of his fingers like a tree growing rapidly. His teeth grew into fangs and a slight groan escaped his mouth.
"He's not dead yet," Rio, one of Blake's gang, said as he tried to approach him.
"Then are you going to wait until he dies and the cops meet you here?" Lisa, the girl among them said.
While they were at it, Lex's eyes snapped open, glowing with a fierce, yellow light. He rose to his feet, his movements fluid and graceful. Rio saw the others staring in shock at something behind him - he had turned his back at Lex when Lisa was talking with him.
"What?" He asked, staring at their faces, but they didn't say anything. Then slowly, he turned backwards and his heart almost flew away when he saw the figure before him.
Lex's gaze locked onto him, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. Rio tried to run, but Lex was too fast. With a single, swift motion, he pinned him to the ground, his claws extended.
The transformation was complete. Lex was no more. In his place stood a powerful werewolf, driven by a hunger for justice and a thirst for revenge.
With a fierce snarl, Lex pounced on Rio, his claws extended. The latter tried to scream, but Lex's jaws closed around his throat, silencing him forever.
Blake gasped in shock as Lex's eyes landed on him after tearing Rio's throat off. His legs shook, rooted to one spot. He couldn't even move.
He looked up at the huge figure Lex had now turned to which loomed before him. His eyes locked with his burning yellow eyes and he peed on himself immediately. "Please…" was the only word which escaped his mouth. He knew it was over for him. Whatever Lex had turned to, was going to kill him for sure.
Without warning, Lex pounced on Blake and the bully's eyes widened in terror. Lex's jaws opened wide, revealing razor-sharp teeth, and he sank them deep into Blake's throat. The sound of tearing flesh and crunching bone filled the air as Lex's teeth pierced through Blake's windpipe and jugular vein.
Blake's body went limp, his eyes frozen in a permanent scream as his life drained away. Lex's claws dug deeper into his chest, tearing through his ribcage and into his lungs.
Lex's teeth remained locked onto Blake's throat, his jaws shaking with a fierce intensity as he savored the kill. The sound of Blake's body hitting the ground was like a sack of meat being dropped, lifeless and heavy.
The rest of the gang, Lisa and Brandon, realized they were next and immediately tried to take off but it was too late. Lex caught them one by one, his claws tearing through their flesh with ease. They fell to the ground, their bodies lifeless and broken.
Lex stood, panting, his chest heaving with exertion. He gazed out at the carnage before him, his eyes still blazing with fury.
But as he transformed back to his normal human state, Lex's hunger gave way to a sense of horror. He had killed them all, torn them apart like animals.
What had he become? Lex's gaze fell upon his hands, still clawed and bloody. He felt a wave of revulsion wash over him, and he stumbled backward, tripping over his own feet.
As he fell, his vision began to blur, and he felt himself being pulled back into the darkness.
