Chereads / The Darkian's Destructive Revenge / Chapter 43 - Foreboding

Chapter 43 - Foreboding

Darkians, who were once feared due to their ability to utilize a force known as Dark Matter. 1500 years ago, planets across all galaxies lost contact with the Darkian planet, or rather, Hikara, which was its former name.

Back before the arrival of Dark Matter, the Hikarans suffered much due to the intensely bright and hot sunlight. The temperature was barely suitable for them to live in. They'd requested aids from many other planets. While some were willing to "give them a hand", it still proved to be fruitless.

No matter the technology, the sunlight always triumphed. The lands of Hikara were desolate, making the condition for growing crops and keeping cattle unfavorable. They were in the midst of starvation.

Many Hikarans died because of this, and their numbers dwindled on, and on. Food provisions from other planets weren't nearly enough... To be more precise, if they received more from the aliens, they'd incur a huge debt, which would put them in a much more dire situation. That was nothing but extortion to them.

One day, something miraculous occurred. There was a black blot in the sky, and around it, everyone could clearly see that the light was being drained into the blot as it grew bigger and bigger. While some might've seen it as an imminent catastrophe, to Hikarans, this scene was a blessing to them.

Finally, a silver lining emerged from all the despairs all those years.

Soon, the blot became a translucent, and enclosed the entire planet at atmospheric level, blocking out most of the sunlight. Because of this, the brightness and temperature returned to an optimal level. Hence, normal life was to return as well.

The Hikarans were extremely elated to have such miracle befall them.

However, normal life wasn't what followed after that event. Ever since the Hikarans had been saved by the Dark Matter, every single newborn possessed a certain amount of Dark Matter within them. Most of bizarre of all, they appeared to have special powers.

Soon, these powers were categorized into three types.

After obtaining Dark Matter 1520 years ago, its inhabitants waived their former identity and planet name. They started to call themselves the Darkians. They didn't bother to rename their planet, for some reason, so "the Darkian planet" was what was resulted from this.

There was a hearsay that, in just 20 years, the Darkians had cut off all connections with other planets they'd built relationships with, since they believed the aliens would continue to extort them. Moreover, as a pleasant surprise to the Darkians, the Dark Matter appeared to be able to misdirect portals, as the number of portals appearing on the Darkian planet became zero.

With this new never-before-seen force, the Darkians thrived.

Nonetheless, all good things came with bad things.

Those who possessed the ability to utilize Dark Matter was excessively aggressive. If they encountered anything that wasn't what they preferred, they'd start a fight. And due to the destructiveness of the powers bestowed by the Dark Matter, the fights usually ended up with at least one broken infrastructure. Often times, casualties were inevitable.

In just 80 years, the Darkian planet was in a state of anarchy. However, a hierarchy had been established, where the Neural types reigned above others, and the Skeletal types were treated like living garbage.

Whenever there was dissatisfaction, most Darkians would seek out a random individual who was a Skeletal type and vent their anger in violent ways. Even a stronger Skeletal type would do the same to a weaker Skeletal type.

An unofficial declaration had been played via broadcast:

"From now on, we will persecute every Skeletal type on sight! No exceptions! Whether they're a baby or an old lady... Kill them all!!!"

In a world without laws and authority, an unofficial declaration like that one immediately took effect, especially since all the Darkians, except the Skeletal types, shared the same exact sentiment.

Since then, Darkians categorized into the Skeletal type became not just the targets of derision or venting, they were also targets of persecution. Hence, they had to live every day in hiding, lamenting why they were born a Skeletal type.

Unfortunately for them, their fate had been sealed the moment they were born.

However, even after the announcement and every non-Skeletal type Darkian seeking to persecute the Skeletal types, none of them died. The reason was: they all possessed the ability to regenerate at a high rate.

In other words, when one was caught, they could be hurt repeatedly, only to heal all the injuries inflicted on them.

To the Skeletal types, this was nothing but endless torment, since they had to experience pain over, and over, and over, and over...They craved salvation, but none did they receive. There couldn't possibly be another miracle like the time when Dark Matter descended upon them like a God.

No, perhaps they could've had salvation bestowed upon them, if that group of individuals were more powerful.

"That group of individuals" weren't referring to the Skeletal types, that term referred to those who were against the the use of the Dark Matter. They advocated the abandonment of the Dark Matter, and swore to seek the "cure" for Dark Matter

Despite having saved the entire species, very little was known about this force. Where it came from, why it was capable of blocking out the sunlight that had plagued for who-knows-how-long, and what it actually did to their bodies.

Once the group'd become more well-known, they incurred the wrath of the Darkians who supported the use of the Dark Matter. Since the group were the minority, they stood no chance against the majority.

They didn't protest for the sake of the of protecting the Skeletal types. In fact, much like the other Darkians, these individuals despised them too, since the Skeletal types were deadly and were the reason why the group was founded in the first place.

Hence, there were no members that were of the Skeletal type within the group.

Soon, they had become more prioritized in terms of targets of persecution over the Skeletal types, and were quickly dealt with. This case served as an example: do not ever go against the Dark Matter, the savior of the Darkians.

From then on, no one dared to raise a voice of negative opinion against the Dark Matter. It was as if they'd become pious believers of this force. Otherwise, they'd be deemed as heretics and suffer the fate as that group of individuals.

For more than a millennium, that was how the Darkians lived their lives, until one day, their planet was plunged to destruction.

The Darkians were cruel, but they were nothing in comparison to the wrath of what brought about their extinction.

...

"Kuku. They didn't even bother recording the name of our group in this book. The disrespect!"

A man, who had black hair and silvery-gray eyes and in a black suit with a red tie, looked from above, at the workers who were busy typing in front of their computers, or delivering a tower of documents around.

The workers had appearance drastically different from the man, as they all had silver hair and yellow eyes. It seemed that the man and the workers belonged to different species.

"With the last touch of my pen, I've completed this book about the history of the Darkians... The true history!... This is why we should've expelled the Dark Matter!! Those fools!!!"

"U-um..."

"Huh?"

One of the workers turned back and hesitated to call out to the man. He responded aggressively.

"We've located the last... Darkian."

"And where is he?!"

"Zuta..."

"The planet that produces a lot of portal devices? HA!"

The man scoffed. The worker looked aside while he silently waited for the next order.

"What are you idiots waiting for?! Get this thing started already!!"

"Yes!" Every worker, simultaneously and fearfully, obeyed the command from the man. He looked at what was displayed on the massive screen in front of him.

"This is how long it's going to take to reach there?! Bunch of useless fools..." The man continued to stare at the countdown on the screen, and stood up. "Even though only I remain, no matter how crazy powerful you are... the 'Neo-Hikarans' shall purge you. Enjoy however much you have left, the last Darkian, JOGRIN!!!"
