Chapter 86
Shadow hunters
The early morning sun crept over the horizon, casting long shadows through the dense forest that surrounded the abandoned house. Birds chirped cheerfully, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within Stella's mind. As they navigated the winding trails back toward the city, the weight of the night's events pressed heavily upon her.
"Stella, we need to talk about what happened," Josh said, breaking the uneasy silence that hung in the air like a thick fog.
"Talk?" Stella scoffed, her fists clenched at her sides. "You mean about how I almost died fighting a shadow? Or how Lyle was left for dead?"
Josh's expression hardened, his brows furrowed in frustration. "I know it sounds crazy, but this isn't just about the attack last night. We're dealing with something much bigger, and we need to prepare for it."
