Shadows of Deception
Stella's heart raced as the figure stepped into the dim light of the abandoned house. The looming shadow was draped in dark clothing, and the glint of silver reflected off something tucked in their belt. It was a presence that radiated danger, and it sent a chill down her spine.
"Get Lyle out of here!" she shouted at Inspector Josh, her voice firm despite the fear bubbling in her chest. "I'll hold them off!"
Josh hesitated, glancing between her and Lyle, who was struggling to sit up, his breathing labored. "Stella, I can't leave you!"
"Go!" she barked, her instincts kicking in. "He needs you more than I do right now. Just get him to safety!"
Reluctantly, Josh nodded, his face twisted with concern, and he moved to Lyle's side. As Stella faced the figure, adrenaline surged through her veins. The unknown enemy was a threat, and she wouldn't let them take Lyle or compromise their mission.
