"From the very beginning, my talent was in my right arm. I could throw things from a mile away; I was a pitcher on the school baseball team up until the fateful day I was hit by a truck and reincarnated in this fantasy world by a trashy goddess after I back-talked her and had a few...choice words for her... Oh! Wait! I almost forgot to introduce myself! My name is or at least, Nakama Hiroshi, but in this world, I'm called Chao and I was reborn into the body of a child who looks like a younger version of myself back in my world. In this world, I seem to have reincarnated as a 9 or 10-year-old in this world and I was born with what seems to be the worst skill tree in this world imaginable: The [Pitching Technique]. The ability to throw things very far, very accurately, and very, very hard. However, that crappy Goddess didn't account for one thing: My obscure knowledge and general knowledge of Throwing weapons! That shitty Goddess!"Â
"I check myself as I look at my skill tree, etched into my forearm through connected circles with only two skills: [Fastball] and [Curveball]. Two skills that would be obvious, however, I now have another problem: I spawned in a forest and have zero ideas where to go, and I have nothing to throw meaning that I'm defenseless" I felt like I was about to cry already, I do not want to die so soon, so I got up and started walking and picked up stones off the ground.
"In this world, it seems to be a combination of Murim and Fantasy. Going through this boy's memories, his name seemed to be Chao. A "Dirt-born" with a weak skill. The Pitching technique, and also had a somewhat solid foundation, but not much else. To unlock the dormant skills within yourself using a skill tree, you must build up enough Qi. Essentially Qi equals Skill points. There are other ways to obtain skills that are not within your skill tree as well. This kid was one smart cookie. To obtain skills that are not yours, you have to take a monster's core and cultivate it, but you only get a chance to obtain a skill that is compatible with the skill tree you are assigned at birth. The thing this kid was looking for is one dangerous son of a bitch. It's probably how he died." I dove further through the kid's memory.
"This crazy son of a bitch wanted to hunt down a Revenant. One whose skill seemed to be something like psychokinesis or telekinesis a wraith-like creature who could control and throw non-living objects by asserting their will on nonliving objects. This kid died and knew the risks." I gripped the rock in my hand. But this kid was smart. He had a plan. But he didn't account for one thing. He studied this creature and found out it could be taken off guard. It had blind spots but of the two abilities... That Revenant's skill was a hard counter to his skill. We got work to do.
I quickly started running, if I wanted to take this thing down, I was going to have to upgrade my arsenal, and quickly. Simple rocks aren't going to do the job.Â
I began to run. I didn't know where, but I ran. Ran in one direction. Ran until I couldn't run anymore. I ran straight, until I found myself out of the forest. Now I have a new problem. It's off a goddamn mountain.
"GODDAMN IT YOU SHIT EATING GODDESS!!!" I Screamed at the sky and I slid down the edge of the mountain, It hurt, a lot. But a little pain is a small price to pay to get out of my life. My back was bleeding, my clothes were torn and I was getting tired, the raw flesh and the feeling of blood on my back felt painful, raw, and uncomfortable, but I kept going. The adrenaline was shooting through my veins, my heart was beating. But I saw something... Light. No. Lights. Plural. It was a city.
"Safety...Just down the mountain. Run." My body jolted forward, feeling the presence of forces unknown at my back, I ran, and Ran and ran and ran, my lungs burned, and my muscles ached but I didn't stop. My eyes watered, but I didn't stop, only after making it through the gate of the town, did this little body, finally fall. My vision blurred, I couldn't breathe, it hurt, and the world went black.
-Hours later-
I wake up, not on the streets, but in a bed, my abdomen wrapped in bandages, the room was more elegant than anything I knew. Chao's memory didn't help either. I had zero idea where I was now. What I did know was that I was safe to an extent. I got out the bed, my pants were torn a bit at the waist, and my shirt on the other hand was gone. I assume it was too badly damaged. I tightened the belt and opened the door. There wasn't anyone there.Â
"Is anyone there!?" I raise my voice, grabbing something off the dresser as I didn't get an answer soon enough. That was before I saw a little girl. Actually, let me correct myself, A short woman, her clothes were swamp green. An odd silence and tension filled the Hallway. The small object in my hand? a small ceramic dish that felt heavier in my hand with each passing moment as she looked at my bandages.
"Looks like you're awake." The small woman said.
