Chereads / Maya’s Fate / Chapter 37 - Where Has She Gone?

Chapter 37 - Where Has She Gone?

Maya thought about the two men in her life, Lucas and Cole. Both were amazing in their own ways, but they were vastly different.

Lucas, her husband, was a complex person. He was intense, passionate and intentional.

He was the kind of person who would move mountains for those he loved, but could also be fiercely stubborn and resistant to change.

Lucas was a thinker, always analyzing and processing his thoughts and emotions, and sometimes struggling to express them.

He has a tendency to internalize his emotions, making him seem closed-off and can come across as aloof and distant to those who don't know him.

His face was chiseled, with sharp angles and piercing dark-hazel eyes that seemed to bore into her soul.

His features were strong, rugged and intense, giving him a brooding, enigmatic presence.

His eyes were like sirens, warning her of danger, yet drawing her in with an otherworldly allure.

Even when he smiled, his eyes seemed to hold a hint of sadness, a depth that made her want to explore and understand him better.

Cole, on the other hand, was a free spirit, a charming and charismatic person who radiated warmth and energy.

He had the most beautiful smile Maya had ever seen, with a beautiful set of teeth.

He was spontaneous and adventurous, always up for a challenge, and never afraid to take risks.

Cole was quick-witted and humorous, with a contagious laugh. He was a kind of person that valued honesty and authencity.

His face was a matserclass in warmth and invitation.

His features were softer, more rounded, with a gentle smile that seemed to be a permanent fixture on his lips.

Cole's eyes sparkled with kindness, his face was a haven.

Maya realized that she was drawn to different aspects of each man.

With Lucas, she felt a deep emotional connection, a sense of security and safety.

With Cole, she felt alive and carefree.

Her love for Lucas was stronger than whatever she felt for Cole.

As she weighed her options, she knew she had to consider what she wanted from life, what she needed from a partner.

Maya felt her eyelids growing heavy, her breathing slowed, and her body relaxed. She felt herself slipping into a deep, restorative sleep.

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the room.

The sound of birds chirping and distant traffic hummed in the background, creating a soothing melody.

Lucas groggily opened his eyes, his head pounding like a drum.

He was met with a wave of nausea and dizziness, and he knew he was in for a rough morning.

He sat up slowly, rubbing his temples, trying to remember the events of the previous night.

He felt a sharp pain in his head as he swung his legs over the side of the bed, making him wince.

He stumbled out of bed and staggered to the bathroom, squinting at his reflection in the mirror.

He looked like a mess, his eyes were bloodshot and his hair disheveled.

He turned on the faucet and splashed water on his face, trying to shake off the haze of his hangover.

Lucas cupped his hands under the running water and brought them to his face, letting the cool liquid soothe his skin.

He took a few deep breaths, trying to clear his head.

Lucas reached for a towel and dried his face, then gazed at himself in the mirror again.

As Lucas soaked in the warm bath, he felt his muscles relax and his kind unwind.

The water enveloped him, calming his senses and washing away the remnants of his hangover.

As he lay there, he remembered Maya's unexpected visit to his room the night before. He remembered the softness of his touch.

Lucas quickly got out of the bath, his heart racing with anticipation.

He dried himself off and hastily got dressed, not bothering to comb his hair.

He just wanted to see Maya, to talk to her and fix their relationship.

He rushed out of his room and dashed to hers, his feet pounding the floor with excitement. He reached her door and hesitated for a moment, taking a deep breath to calm himself down.

Then, he knocked on the door, his knuckles rapping softly against the door.

He waited for a moment, but there was no response.

Lucas knocked on the door again, a bit louder this time, but there was still no answer. He paused for a moment, wondering if she was okay, or if she was just ignoring him.

"Maya, please," he said through the door, his voice a little more urgent. "I need to talk to you. We need to fix this once and for all."

He waited for few minutes, but there was only silence. Lucas felt a pang of worry and frustration.

He didn't know what was going on or why she was shutting him out.

Lucas tried again, his voice softer this time.

"Maya, I know you're in there. Please, just talk to me. I want to make things right between us."

But there was no response.

Lucas was left standing there, feeling helpless and unsure of what to do.

He pushed the door open, his eyes searching the room. It was empty. He wondered where Maya could have gone to.

As he turned to leave, he noticed a maid approaching Maya's room with a cart of fresh linens and cleaning supplies.

He stopped and approached her, hoping she might have some information about Maya's whereabouts.

"Excuse me," he said, approaching the maid in the hallway.

"I was looking for Maya, but she doesn't seem to be in her room. Do you know where she might have gone?" he said trying to sound friendly and non-threatening.

"I'm not sure sir," she replied, her voice neutral. "I haven't seen Madam Maya this morning. But I can check the library and garden to see if she's there."

Lucas nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. "That would be great, thank you."

The maid nodded and headed off towards the library, leaving Lucas to wait anxiously.

After a while, she returned shaking her head.

"She isn't there, sir. A guard told me he saw her leave early this morning, before breakfast. She had a small bag with her."

"The guard said he thinks she might have been heading to the train station."

Lucas's heart sank.

The train station? Was she leaving? Without saying goodbye? He felt a surge of panic and urgency.
