"…How could this happen…"
As I looked over Mimi's lifeless body, my blood ran cold, and my legs started quivering. Sylis, who had remained outside since I grabbed Mimi from her back, latched her hands onto my shoulders as she leaned into my back.
"Fervis, I'm so sorry… this… is all my fault!"
I quickly walked away from her and began to move toward the living room carefully, before doing so, I quickly returned my gaze to the girl that I left at the door. When I did, Sylis's puffy eyes and battered body caused me to feel a tang of remorse.
It would be easy to cast my rage upon her as a result of Mimi's injuries, but I realized that she was hurt as well. Also, it was likely if she hadn't rushed Mimi back to me as quickly as she did… she might already be dead by now.
"Come inside."
