Chapter 7 - [7] Development

-Point of View A-

Time passed quickly; in just one week, I managed to repair this dilapidated hut until it was livable, while stocking up on dry wood and sufficient food supplies. With a sense of safety in this dwelling and an abundance of food, I realised it was time to make more suitable clothing. The deer hide I had previously caught wasn't enough to face the cold weather, and with Ciel-sensei's help, setting traps felt incredibly easy.

Next, I needed to hunt a bear or wolf. However, these animals were not just ordinary creatures I knew; they were monsters. I felt anxious and worried about the possibility of facing these wild beasts, especially bears and wolves that always appeared in packs when I spied on them in the nearby forest. But fear wouldn't get me anywhere; I had to bravely confront this challenge.

As my determination to hunt a bear grew stronger to obtain its hide, Ciel-sensei provided assistance.

[Monsters in this world come in various types. The bear pack you encountered earlier is called Luster Grizzly. Their habitat is Lake Cuculu. They are a common type of monster found in the northern regions of the Central Continent. Physically, Luster Grizzlies appear as large bears with white fur and a single black stripe running vertically down the centre of their bodies. They usually move in large groups, especially during the winter.]

I thanked Ciel-sensei for this valuable information. One question arose in my mind regarding my location and situation, and Ciel quickly answered.

[You are in the Central Continent, northern region, and it is currently winter.]

I expressed my gratitude once again. However, I was curious where Ciel obtained all this information. Did it come from the memories of the child whose body I now inhabited? If so, it meant this child came from a reasonably well-off family. In a fantasy world, especially in medieval times, only children from the upper middle class had access to a good education. In other words, this child also belonged to that category?

[That's correct,] Ciel confirmed, providing reassuring validation.

Then, I prepared some essential tools, including a spear with a stone blade that I had crafted myself and a knife hanging at my waist. My shoes were made of woven wood combined with deer hide, and my clothing was also made from deer hide, offering protection from the cold weather.

With all these preparations, I felt ready to explore the forest in search of a Luster Grizzly that might have strayed from its pack. I was sure there had to be one lost nearby.

...

During my free time after completing my supply gathering and hut repairs, I spent about three hours each day training. Ciel-sensei became my guide in mastering the four blessings I had received.

I learned not to always rely on him for using every miracle I needed. First, I focused on my physical fitness. I engaged in training similar to that of modern military practices, undergoing a rigorous workout—much like what my friend's older brother often complained about during his military service.

My training included running, push-ups, sit-ups, and various other exercises for an hour. However, thanks to the miracles, I didn't feel fatigued at all, meaning I could still increase my training regimen.

Secondly, I honed the abilities of the four miracles. I learned to control energy and harness that power for a full hour.

Thirdly, I practiced combat skills. In this fantasy world, it was essential to have self-defence capabilities. My enemies wouldn't only be monsters; they could be anyone. I had to remain vigilant against people in this world, especially now that I was a Beastman.

Ciel-sensei also provided help in this area. He suggested that I practice using the spear, as its long reach gave a strategic advantage in combat.

It was indeed unfortunate, but without Ciel-sensei, I wouldn't know what to do in a place like this. I was very grateful to the Father in heaven for his assistance.

...

Carefully, I peeked from behind a large tree, spear drawn and ready in my hand. In front of me, a lost Luster Grizzly was drinking from the lake. It appeared oblivious.

With a swift motion, I threw the spear I had crafted with the stone blade. The spear soared like lightning, piercing the bear's back. Instantly, the bear woke with a thunderous roar of anger, shaking the surrounding trees.

I quickly ran with agility, dodging the giant claws that slashed through the air. The bear lunged at me ferociously, like a snowstorm wreaking havoc. I ducked just as the claw swiped past, narrowly missing my head.

Thanks to Ciel-sensei's guidance and Gabriel's miracle, I could read the monster's movements and quickly search for its weak points.

In a flash, I countered the attack by stabbing the knife I had swiftly drawn into the bear's leg. Its roar of pain echoed through the forest as it staggered back, giving me the opportunity to continue my assault. I rushed at the bear and thrust into its belly with all my strength.

The bear's blood flowed profusely, creating a striking contrast against the pure white snow. The bear roared in pain, trying to claw at me. However, I was more agile; jumping atop a large rock, I successfully evaded the strike.

With its wounds worsening, the bear appeared increasingly weak. Seeing my final chance, I leapt high into the air and landed on its back, retrieving the spear lodged in the monster's body.

Blood splattered on my face as I pulled out the spear, and the bear's cries echoed around me.

With a shout full of determination, I plunged the spear into the bear's heart. Blinding magical light erupted from the wound, searing the bear's body and silencing its final roar. Ultimately, the bear collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Panting, I felt a mix of adrenaline and exhaustion, as this was my first time battling a giant bear and being drenched in blood. However, I felt triumphant. Now, I had defeated the monster and obtained a hide that I could use to make warm clothing.

The following days would be much easier. With my new warm clothing, a decent shelter, and an abundance of food supplies, I felt more prepared to face the challenges of this world.

Now, my focus was on honing all my abilities. Every day, I trained diligently, seizing every moment to strengthen my physique and combat skills. When I felt sufficiently ready, the next step would be to explore the world outside this hut, seeking new adventures and perhaps new friends.

With renewed enthusiasm, I began to plan this journey. What would I encounter out there? More terrifying monsters, or perhaps treasures waiting to be discovered? With each training session and every experience, I was getting closer to unlocking my full potential and becoming more than just an isolated Beastman.
