There were some of the herd that needed immediate care. I healed those that still had life in them, but I was too late to save one of them.
'If only I had been stronger and hadn't tried to run ~' I thought angerly.
"No little mate, I would have told you to run. Spiked Devil Bears are known for their ferocity and constant hunger. I got anxious when I smelled it on the wind. We were too far from you guys to immediately help. I'm sorry." He hung his head in dejectedly.
I could feel the lingering anxiety, fear, and worry for my safety. Along with the loss of one of his herd.
'I'm sorry ~ ' I began but he just looked up at me and shook his head.
"No it's fine, they died honorably. I was worried you know? I'm glad you ran until we came to help. Don't blame yourself for that. " He said while coming over to rest his head against my shoulder.
I could feel the instant relief in his emotions as he did that. I could feel him also relaxing as tiredness began to overtake him.
Reaching up I patted his muzzle and said softly, "Go on. Go rest while we prepare this bear."
He stood there for an extra min before leaving to go lay down with the rest of the herd.
I walked towards the dead Spiked Devil Bear and wondered just how I was going to do this.
[Do you wish to butcher Spiked Devil Bear?]
[Y / N]
Debs helpful voice filtered into my thoughts.
'Yes~' I responded feeling something new happening to my body.
[You have now learned some Passive skills!]
[You have learned the Passive skill: Butcher (lvl 1)]
[You have learned the Passive skill: Cooking (lvl 1)]
[Cooking basic gift pack]
'Umm Deb what's with these new skills? I thought that it would just end up in organized boxes like before?'
[Because these items are not in your inventory you are learning the actual skills that is required to process beasts and monsters appropriately:
{Butcher (Passive Skill)}
---Allows one to see the best angels and know where to cut when dismantling a beast or monster corpse.
{Cooking (Passive Skill)}
---Allows one to prepare delicious meals from beast or monster meat amongst other things. ]
'Well okay then thanks Deb, I now have two new skills that I'm sure I was going to need to learn some point or another. Though I guess I thought I could get away with not getting messy a little while longer.'
Opening up my purse I dug around reaching for my knife that I always carried in there when I had been living on Earth. Found it! Pulling out the knife I wondered if it had also changed as well.
[Choas Dragon Knife]
[Item : knife]
[Quality : SS grade]
---An item from another world. It has been modified to fit the new constructs of this worlds items. The handle is made from the bones of a Choas Dragon, it's blade made from the Choas Dragons scales. EXTREMELY sharp and will not break.
Looking at the new design of my knife I had a feeling deep down in my gut, that ALL the items that I had brought from Earth would change a bit in some form or another. I thought they would come as they were, but I guess maybe I was expecting too much.
'Okay let's do this then.'
My new Passive skill Butcher was telling me to start from the neck, meaning I had to jump ontop of the bear.
That was easy enough, but I had to steal myself for cutting into it. I needed to make a vertical slit all the way down to its tail. Then from it's paw pads I need to cut horizontal. The fucker had four arms too, and his tail, I was just noticing was a long bushy thing.
The process wasn't exactly hard, the Choas Dragon knife made quick work of the hide and getting that off. I even folded it before putting it in my inventory. Removing all the teeth, claws, and spines was a bit tedious, but once Raji saw what I was doing he came over to help. He got the spines wile I plucked and pulled the teeth and claws. Those also went into the inventory with Raji watching with fascinating as I tossed things into what looked to him like thin air.
Now, on to the meat. Having removed it while dismantling the hide I had several piles of different cuts. Not to mention a pile of organs and the magic core this guy had had.
I think it'll be best to use the arms for today's lunch since what my new cooking Passive skill was telling me that it would make a good roast. Besides I didn't exactly have any pots, pans, or other cooking instruments...wait I had that cooking gift pack too.
' Deb can you open the Cooking gift pack?'
[Confirmed. ]
[1 basic pot
1 basic pan
1 basic kettle
1 basic cup
1 basic bakery roller
1 basic wooden cutting board
1 basic wooden ladle
10 cockatrice eggs
8 bags camomile tea
5 Horned Rabbits]
'Well well, that was quite the gift. Even though it said basic next to everything I was happy to just have any of it.'
Since I didn't want to deviate what my Passive skill was telling me to do I set to work lighting a fire and braking off tree branches to stuff the Spiked Devil Bear meat through. It kinda reminded me of kebabs back home.
'Maybe I'll call it Spiked Devil Bear Kebab'
Chuckling quietly I looked over to where the herd were resting. Their noses were raised and sniffing the air, it was adorable. I knew they had eaten but I guess this was making them a little hungry.
The kebabs didn't take too long to cook, taking a few sticks I handed them over to Raji. He had been quietly observing me the whole time. His hunger made him reach out slowly, but once he grabbed them and took a bite he started eating with greater gusto.
Taking my own sticks of kebab I bit into the tender meat and felt like I was in heaven. Even though this was only roasted meat, I had to hand it to the Spiked Devil Bear it was indeed delicious.
